We stayed at the Meridiana Hotel in early May. The breakfast was excellent with quite a variety of fruit, cheese, meat, pastries, and beverages. Our room and beds were very comfortable and the bathroom had a long deep tub, which was a pleasure since all our other hotels on our trip had only showers. We were able to walk to points of interest and restaurants, and the sightseeing bus line was only 2 or 3 blocks away. Staff was helpful about questions and suggestions for restaurants, and spoke many languages.
the hotel is very 1970's its not seen a paint brush in along time ! our room was facing the front on the 2nd floor when we first entered it smelt really musty and damp , we opened the windows and left them on the latch and it smelt better on our return later that evening, there was a hair dryer in the bathroom and the room was cleaned every day of our 3 day stay , the staff were friendly and gave us a map of the area , it was a 10/15 walk into the main part of town near the duomo, the area felt quite safe to walk around in the evening and there are a couple of bars nearby, the train station is approx 25 min walk away . breakfast was cold options meat cheeses etc we stuck to toast and crossants with jam , the coffee wasnt very nice there was fruit and earl grey tea ans juices to choose from , like the reception staff the dining room staff were also very friendly , we booked this hotel through groupon as part of a deal so the price we paid was ok as the location was good but the decor lets this place down badly
We stayed for 3 nights in Florence. The hotel was good value and about a 20-minute walk from the Duomo. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the lady serving the drinks at breakfast time. Might benefit from tarting up but that didn't bother us. There was street noise but we didn't hear anything during the night.
Our stay here was okay. The hotel could really use some updating. Our room was clean but dated, and the bathroom was quite small. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine, some good cold food options but it would have been nice to have hot food options as well. Loved the coffee bar, and especially the cappuccino! There's a grocery store around the corner, and it was great having a fridge in the room. The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but it's easy enough to walk there in about 25 minutes. The street noise wasn't too bad except for the ambulances driving nearby at all hours.
Location The hotel is located near the fortress and not far away from the centre of Florence. It is ideally situated for individual travellers due to its close proximity to the centre and the excellent public bus system. Distance 6 kms to the airport (peretola airport) 80 kms to the airport (pisa galileo galilei) 2 km to the nearest station (firenze s.m. novella) 1 minute walk to the nearest bus stop 1 km to the nearest fair site (fortezza da basso)
We stayed at the Hotel Meridiana a few nights the same time as a children's soccer team was staying there. The walls were kind of thin so you could hear the kids running around at night. We ate at the hotel for one dinner for a 5 course meal. The food was average but it felt like we were eating in a cafeteria with how loud it was. The rooms were nice and clean. It was a good location and was easy to catch a bus without having to walk too far. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Average Hotel -- rooms a little dated (and tired), very small room and bathroom, terrible mattress (like a futon). Staff was very helpful! Street side was noisy. Very limited restaurants nearby (only two?). We stayed here for 3 nights in the middle of a 10-day Italy trip. Our least favorite Hotel... Hotel is north of historical center -- about 7-10 minute walk to Basilica San Marco and Galleria Accademia. City buses were very convenient and easy for locations farther away -- we purchased bus tickets at front desk for €1.20 one way.
The hotel is good but was just average. The rooms are very small as well as their elevators. Though the location is good as it is very near the central of Florence which is just walking distance. We stayed here as part of our Expat Explore tour.
Just like the other previous reviewer. What he said was %100 dead on. Arrive late here to firenze. Hotel is old and the shower is super tiny. Beds was ok, not the best. Bus stop is near by. Must visit the Mercato in city center. Has the best food,
I stayed here for 2 nights during a 12-day European coach trip with Expat Explore, which started from London. I believe that this hotel was chosen by the tour company based on its reasonable price without compromising on comfort, and also its easy accessibility to the city centre on foot ( about 30 minutes of easy stroll). It is situated in a rather safe neighbourhood, as we did not feel threatened while walking back to the hotel late in the evening after having explored the city. I stayed in a room with a queen bed and find the bed and pillows to be comfortable. It is a rather basic room, equivalent to the 3-stars the hotel is accredited with, there is a writing table and sufficient storage place for my large luggage. Both the room and the bathroom were clean, the shower pressure was strong and the water was hot. Wifi was free and fast from my room. Just like any other major touristic cities in the world, hotels in central Florence will not be cheap. I checked the rates of this hotel (I didn’t pay, as it was included in my tour fees) and was surprised to find it to be very reasonable for its standard, and most importantly, for its close proximity to the highlights of the city. You can pay twice the price for the same standard, just to be in the centre. If I ever return to Florence again, I will most probably stay here for these 2 reasons.
