Ideal location. Wonderful staff and an over the top breakfast.

I came on a quiet weekday in the early spring and almost had the whole mansion to myself. All of the staff were friendly and caring and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I enjoyed exploring each of the common rooms in the house and sitting by the fire in the evening. The town was two blocks away and also full of friendly people. The room was very comfortable and in the morning the staff cooked a homemade breakfast.

The Gingerbread Mansion Inn has been on my bucket list for a few years. This year we took a road trip and stayed here for one night. It was wonderful! When we arrived, the staff was setting up for afternoon tea. In addition to many selections of tea, two wines (one red, one white) were offered. This was good for the hubby. The chef prepared lovely pastries; trays of cheese and crackers; and plates of chocolates. We helped ourselves to all we wanted. Several of the pastries were gluten-free and low sugar. We ate in one of the parlors near the front of the house and enjoyed conversation with some other guests. After tea time, we walked the short distance to town and had dinner. Our room was elegantly decorated with a private patio. Unfortunately, it rained, so we were unable to sit outside. The grounds are beautiful with walkways and lots of flowers and statuary. It is a very calming place to visit. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgable about the history of the house. The chef catered to special dietary needs and was happy to do so. This is a bed and breakfast and what a breakfast! Upon checking in, we were asked about what time we would like breakfast as it is not prepared in advance. We were served scrambled eggs with homemade sausage, toast, and jam; sautéed vegetables; and fresh fruit with choice of tea or coffee. All elegantly served on China, teacups and saucers. I recognized my grandmother's pattern. Hubby actually enjoyed himself and I loved every minute!
