great spot by river but traffic noise from the highway was deafening....Could barely enjoy the balcony plus sliding door was off hinges and very hard to open Pleasant enough
The hotel is CLEAN but sad, old, and it smells the part. The swimming pool is beautiful but permanently CLOSED. The restaurant staff are FRIENDLY but front desk staff seem to be miserable and not interested in having guests. And the hotel charged a surprise $40.00 parking fee that was not disclosed up front, and mind you, this is in Eugene adjacent to the mall, with literally acres upon acres of parking. Overall, it is probably acceptable if you have a conference hosted on-site, but otherwise, we would definitely recommend that you avoid the hotel all together. Not horrific, but was generally sub-par on nearly all counts.
Very nice hotel. Accommodating, letting me check in 2 hours early as I had been travelling ALL day and needed to nap! Right on the Willamette River...beautiful!
No microwave in the room.
Wonderful relaxing stay !!
Very personable staff. Our room could use a little help. The bathroom ceiling had lots of mildew.
The Valley River Inn was *the* fancy place in Eugene when I was growing up, but does feel like it needs an upgrade now. Its best feature is its location on the Willamette River, which has wonderful paths on both sides, for biking, jogging, walking, etc. On the other hand, it's in the area of the mall, which again used to be a really cool place, but now feels like a lot of parking lots and big box stores. Inside the Valley River Inn, it really did feel a bit shabby. I was in a room overlooking a parking lot. It seemed to me it took way too long to heat the room up, as though it maybe hadn't been used in a while. And throughout my visit, it took forever for hot water to come out of the spout. In addition, the shower was very hard to turn on-- as though the faucet was stuck or something. And, most of the times I had to flush the toilet multiple times because the flushing mechanism didn't seem to work. So I'd say: renovate!
Staff was nice, rooms were large but property is extremely outdated. Walls are paper thin so when the person next door starts talking on the phone and watching TV at 5:30am you hear everything as if they were in the room with you.
No problems
Wonderful property with nice amenities. We have stayed a number of times and will be back. There was a slight hiccup at check-in just due to Covid19 related problems but they made everything right by us. This has been my go-to hotel while my daughter has been at the University and i think I'll be staying there for years to come.
This hotel is incredibly convenient for those staying in Eugene. Despite it being close to a freeway, the hotel is quiet. Furthermore, the hotel offers rentable bikes, which is a plus. The only gripe I have is that parking is not free.
When I arrived it was covered in about 15 cops maybe more and it didn't seem very welcoming. I was looking forward to it since I've been on the road for a long time.
Great location on the Willamette River with access to the associated trail system. Several restaurants nearby.

We appreciate your feedback, Spencer. While we're happy to hear our hotel was clean and our restaurant staff was friendly, it's unfortunate your stay was anything less than perfect. We apologize for the condition of our hotel, the service you experienced from our front desk staff, and that our outdoor pool is closed for the season and will reopen towards the end of May. We offer self-parking to all of our guests for only $10/ night, and this information is readily available on our website under "Frequently Asked Questions". We care deeply about the happiness and satisfaction of our guests, so we'll be addressing your concerns with our team moving forward. We do hope to see you again soon so we can share a more positive experience with you
