Disorganized, unprofessional. Booked >2 wks in advance. When we arrived around 4:30PM, we were informed our room was not ready, but would be told when it was. We waited nearly an hour at the bar with no news, so we went back to the front desk where employee told us that our room was no longer available and that we would need to stay somewhere else (unlikely in Estes). I asked if they would make those accommodations for us, but was told no. I asked if they could contact their manager, but instead, I was given the manager's phone number and told to call them myself. Of course, the manager didn't answer. Expedia tried to reach out to the property but they also did not get anyone to answer for 40 minutes. Eventually, they got in touch with the property, and told us that the room would be available after all. It was nearly 8PM when we got back to the hotel. We were told we'd receive a $50 discount for the inconvenience, yet that hasn't happened (yet?). For breakfast we had a cinnamon roll, banana bread, a cup of tea, and a latte. $25. The atmosphere and location of this property is great. The room was clean. They had a fire pit and some free s'more ingredients. Side note: The bar/kitchen staff (Derrick I think), was more invested than the front desk. I think he was pulled to help clean several rooms for us and other guests who were in similar situations. He offered us food on the house (sadly we already had dinner). Nice guy. Overall, management is lacking.

Unfortunately the check in experience on Friday night really put a damper on our stay. We showed up with a four-year-old and a two-year-old, ready to settle in and get ready for the glow parade. Unfortunately, our room was not ready, and there was not really a proactive approach to finding out when it would be or if it would be which is not a great response when you are traveling with two little kids, do not know if you’re even going to have a room that night. We were unsure if we needed to drive home and waste our money on our dog boarding or if we were to stay and wait for our room. The front desk staff was clearly overwhelmed, even disappeared in the office for a while while the line grew and my frustrations grew. I feel like management should coach staff on dealing with these situations we were told the room was not ready because of housekeeping shortages and it was not ready until after 7 PM when guaranteed for 4 PM check-in. We were told to “just got have a long dinner” and came back at 5:30 and there were still no updates. Room was finally ready after 7. I’m more upset that this was stressful on us and our kids and the staff didn’t seem to proactively try to handle the situation and was not very apologetic or empathetic.

Our check in was delayed by over an hour. Our hotel room had dead flies, and hair in the drain. The heat was stuck on in the room. The hotel room was also very noisy. The excellent food at the restaurant and coffee almost made up for it.

We were casually (and uncomfortably, unprovoked) informed by the bartender that the property had been bought out and that was why they were pinching pennies around the property. Stairs/balconies were covered in bird droppings, amenities offered on website are no longer available, I could keep going on and on. Super underwhelming experience and will not stay there again

the spots in the bathroom were drywall was fixed should be painted. The hallway between bathroom and bed area could use paint touch up too. I get in prime season this maybe tough to do however its quiet now so perhaps touch up paint in rooms not used. It seemed like the floor was buckled up or coming loose as you walked over some spots too. The pigeons sitting outside the door all night were loud so maybe put something on rafters to deter them from nesting / sitting there all night so they don't keeping guest up. You can hear them inside room. The staff was excellent. The Trailborn just has so much potential to be an even better stay with a few tweaks.

This was a lovely hotel. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and it was nicely decorated. The restaurant/bar had a tasty menu and a full bar. We would definitely recommend.
