This was to be my last stay on a business trip that had me in 5 cities in 5 days. On my way to Arkansas I was flying out of Houston through Dallas to Little Rock. Shortly before we were to leave Houston A very strong storm hit Houston and closed the Airport for over two hours. The airlines were not sure when planes would be able to land but kept telling us their was a chance we would make our connections. About 7 PM the airlines told me I would not make my connection in Dallas and I should get a room in Dallas and they would put me on the first plane in the morning to Arkansas. I imediately called Avis and told them what had happened and they were wonderful and had a car waiting for me in the morning. I then called the Holiday Inn in El Dorado and explained the situation to the person on duty at the hotel. He told me I would be charged for the room since it was after 6 PM. I told him at 6 oclock I still expected to be in Arkansas that evening and had just been informed by the airlines I would not make it. He said it was corporate policy, I would be charged for the room and there was nothing that could be done. After some additional conversation on my situation and his issistance that nothing could be done and I would be charged for the room I calmly told him we all had to do what we had to do and apparently he had to ignore my situation and charge me for a room even though my not getting there was not my fault and what I had to do was never spend another night in a Holiday Inn and see that no one else in my company did either. As it was I paid for 4 hours in a room at the Dallas Airport and for a night in a room in El Dorado AR at a hotel that I never saw. This is not what I consider to be good customer relations ot the kind of attitude that builds customer loyalty.
