We booked this hotel through Say Hueque, who planned our Patagonian tour. This hotel was listed as a mid-range property. It had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and spoke English very well. The room and bed were comfortable; the bathroom was attractively tiled with up-to-date fixtures. Weather in February is spring-like, but one night we did open the window to get cool air. (No AC) The included breakfast was extensive: eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit, many rolls, pastries, granola, yogurt, ham, juices, coffee, and more. We enjoyed a relaxing morning overlooking the lake before our tours each day. We did not eat other meals here because of the timing of the tours, but we did walk 4 blocks along the main road to restaurants late in the evening (after 8 pm). The lake is across the divided highway and there is a walkway along the shore for bird-watching. The distance to town and many steps leading up to the hotel and to some rooms means this may not be the place for someone who is not very mobile or who uses a wheelchair. I don't remember using the internet due to our schedule, but we did have cell service. (T-Mobile)
Very good experience. The room was very good, bed was comfortable and bathroom satisfactory with enough hot water. The only problem is that the hot at night was unbearable. The hotel should have considered to have an ac in place. We tried to open the window but the noise from main street made us close it again. Breakfast met our needs and had enough variety. Receptionists were friendly explanatory and helped us a lot picking and arranging excursions. I recommend this place!
The Hotel is at the end of the main road in a very good location facing Argentino lake. You can walk to almost all places in the main center of Calafate and it could be also quit as it is not totally at the center. The hotel is a Scandinavian style, the room was small but effective and most placed was occupied by the bed. Bathroom was renovated. Breakfast was good and the personnel although not smiling a lot was helpful when asked. Wifi was good in all places. Tv channels only in local language but as almost everywhere in Argentina.
Great hotel near perito moreno. Good location good breakfast and overall great experience. Laid back and great music at entrance living room!!! Staff is friendly. No need for a car to go to center of town.
We stayed at Mirador del Lago hotel for three nights in April 2017. We took a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and check in was fast. We got room 110 located in the corner on the ground floor. The room was quite small and most of it was occupied by the kingsize bed. The room had a wooden Scandinavian feel to it with wooden floor in the entrance, wooden panels on some of the wall and the bed also had light wood details. There was a small step up from the wooden entrance to the bed area which was a bit annoying – I managed to stumble on it a few times. There was a flat screen TV on the wall but it seemed like all the channels were Spanish speaking and movies were dubbed. There was also a desk and a chair in the room. There were no international plugs but we did bring a converter so we were able to charge all our gadgets. The wardrobe included a few hangers and also a small safe. The small fridge contained some drinks. A bottle of water was 40 pesos so it is cheaper to go to the local grocery store to buy water. The bathroom seemed to be newly renovated. It was small but looked great with greyish tiles. There was a small sink and a shower cabinet. There was even a heater for the towels. There were the basic amenities like shampoo, soap and conditioner. Breakfast was good with a standard selection of bread, cereal, scrambled eggs and bacon. The town is named after the calafate berry and they had this jam so that we could try it out. In addition they had a good fruit salad – it seems like this is a standard at Argentinian hotel breakfasts. The coffee at breakfast was not very good. I don’t know if it was instant but it was served from a big container. They could make proper coffee for us but at an additional cost. The location of the hotel is good. It is located a bit in the outskirts of the city center but we could easily walk over to restaurants and shops. All in all we had a good stay. It would have been great of the room was a bit larger but the bed was comfortable and provided a good night sleep. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Stayed 2 nights (24-26 Sep 2016), booked an Economy Double Room on Expedia for USD93/night + USD38 tax for 2 nights including breakfast. Arrived El Calafate by bus from Puerto Natales, thought it's 15 mins away so decided to walk over. I had a rucksack and a handcarry suitcase, at the end took me 30 mins as the road was cobbly, when I got to the hotel, there's an unfinished uphill pavement covered in rocks. Location is good since it's on the main street, felt safe walking back after dinner time. Only 15 mins walk to the main area and lots of restaurants along the way, a supermarket closeby. Tours I joined picked up and dropped me off here. After checking in, asked the staff whether someone can help me with luggage to the room, the staff looked a little surprised but helped me. My room was near the end of the corridor on the ground floor, view was looking out to the street. Room was decent size, with chairs and lamp oddly placed. Bathroom is ok. Had dinner at the restaurant on the first night, ordered chicken which was quite dry and tasteless. Breakfast time was very busy and almost full as the restaurant was not that big and I guess a lot of guests joining tours have similar pickup times? Good selection with all that I was looking for. Left my rucksack there for 2 nights as I didn't need everything for El Chalten, they stored such for me. Staff helped call to book transfer to the airport when I went back to collect my backpack. Overall, stay was ok, like the location, room size, breakfast and some staff was friendly, not keen on the room decor and furniture.
Good place to base the discovery of an amazing region. Nice facility that matches quite well with the environment. Convenient located, walking distance to restaurants, stores, etc in Calafate. Friendly staff.
Set in a charming building facing the Argentino Lake, Mirador del Lago Hotel offers rooms with stylish décor, and breakfast, 985 feet from the city centre. It features a lounge with a fireplace overlooking the lake. With classy décor, rooms at Mirador del Lago Hotel feature cable TV and minibars. Some rooms enjoy scenic lake views. The hotel isn't dead in the centre of the town but it's still close enough to walk to all the shops and restaurants easily, plus it is very well kept, clean and modern with pleasant and attentive staff.Perfectly located hotel en el Calafate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were great, though a bit warm. But very clean and modern and the wifi was good. Beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean and modern as well. Breakfast was okay but was the same thing everyday and we grew tired of it. The box lunch was big but not very good the bread was dry and crumbly made a huge mess. We used it as a base as we traveled to other areas by the local bus and the hotel checked our larger luggage while we were abroad. During our stay flights were delayed and the hotel was very accommodating to all the stranded passengers. We were lucky our flight was only delayed 1 day. We would stay here again.
I was hesitant to book the economy room after reading the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Clean, nice, comfortable rooms, nice breakfast, nice waiting area, walking distance to the town center. Some people at the reception desk are not very into customer service, but there is one gentleman whose attitude and great service made us forget all the rest. Very very recommended hotel in El Calafate.
As the name implies, this hotel has a view of Lake Argentina, from the lobby, cafe and some rooms facing the road. Staff are friendly, especially Carlos at front desk. Location is right on the main street, Ave. of the Liberator, honoring San Martin who liberated much of South America from Spain. It is about quarter mile from the very busy part of the street with all the shops, restaurants and the noise. We liked the quiet and the short walk to the busy area when we wanted. But a 24 hour pastry shop, grocery store and a nice restaurant Pura Vida across the street are much closer if you don't want to walk or take a taxi. Grocery store is handy to get drinking water or pack a picnic lunch on the trails as we did. No better experience than a picnic with glacier or lake view on a trail. All in all a comfortable hotel.
