Mirador del Lago Hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst touring Patagonia. Located at the end of the main street and close to the lake, it offers you options of shops/restaurants (c.10 mins walk) as well as walks by the lake. As we were on tour, I chose to use their laundry facility - picked up at 9.30 and was back when we returned to the room at 6.00pm - excellent service We had a free day so we decided to go horse-riding. The hotel booked it for us with only a few hours notice. The guys on reception were always friendly and helpful. The bar is a bit forgotten about - if you want a drink, you seemed to have to go downstairs to the restaurant to order and for someone to come up and service you which seemed a bit daft. Our room was really nice and clean - was a little hot, but was safe to leave the window open. The bed was really comfy and, for a change, there was no duvet, just sheets and blanket which was lovely as in all the other hotels the duvets had been too hot. Breakfast was ample - quite a lot of choice and the room had a good view over to the lake.

The location is very nice overlooking the water and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. We had two rooms on the bottom floor and they were clean and fine. I am sure the upper rooms facing the lake are better. Breakfast buffet was great. Service was just so/so...

We were travelling with our 2 small kids and the room was perfect to accommodate the four of us. Comfortable beds, spacious room and great shower. Walking distance from the main city's shopping area, with many restaurants. Good breakfast, with different options of fruits, breads, eggs, etc.

If possible I would give the hotel 4.5 dots. Loved the layout of the room we had - there was a little window seat in a bay window - great for reading. From it you could see a sliver of Lago Argentino. So be mindful if you really want a full view of the lake. The room was clean and quiet - we were well back from the main street. Others in our group had noise issues (just one night) as Festival del Lago was underway that week with bands playing on the street. Our only quibble was the room temperature. It was quite warm and we needed to prop the room door ajar and open the window in our room and in the hall to get a cross breeze. We had room service dinner one night - the sweetbreads were good and something you don't often see on the menu.

The hotel was a disappointment for us considering the price we paid. The rooms are very basic. The service is efficient but cold(no one ever smiles). The breakfast was good. The location is not in the center so we had to take taxI everywhere.

Mirador del Lago is convenient for day excursions and for a short walk into the center of town. Our room had a balcony and great view of Lake Argentino. The bed was very comfortable and we had a bathtub as well as a shower. The hotel prepares box lunches for those who go on an all day excursion like we did at a reasonable price. The restaurant in the hotel is pretty good and the breakfast was a nice addition. The staff was helpful, particularly Alex who works at reception and was very friendly and welcoming, answering our questions whenever we needed.

This hotel has a great location, central but not too central (walking distance of main drag). Its infrastructure is great (spacious reception, large rooms, good beds) but regrettably it is administered as a 3 star. The breakfast is so so (in Argentina!), the service is definitely lacking (one example, once we arrived back at 2pm and the room had not been done, at the reception they thought that was OK). There is no clear help for the luggage and there is no infrastructure to roll in bags, you just have to carry them up the stairs.

We spent one night here in transit to El Chalten and although we expected a room with a view given the hotel's name we had no glimpse of the water from our room on the ground floor. The sound proofing is terrible and we heard screaming children in a nearby room until 11pm. The room was uncomfortably hot and yet when we opened the window for some air the traffic noise was excessive. The restaurant was fabulous with excellent service and delicious food.

Great location with very helpful and friendly staff. Wish we could have stayed for more than one night. Our room overlooked the beautiful Lago Argentino and we had a small balcony. Alex at the front desk helped us arrange a last minute trip to Perito Moreno Glacier. What a treat! We had lunch at the hotel bar ~ limited choices but delicious. For dinner, we had several restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the hotel. I recommend staying here but get a view room with a balcony.

We had a room facing the lake, with a small porch. You are a bit of a distance from the lake, but it is beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. They also have a nice restaurant for dinner, if you're too tired to go anywhere. The walk downtown is pleasant and easy, and we went there a couple of nights, which was fun. There are beautiful birds on the grounds (black-faced ibis) and on the lake (flamingos, black-necked swans). Carlos, at the front desk, was helpful and friendly.
