Staff very friendly and helpful , very clean room and comfortable bed and we had a nice complimentary breakfast. Really enjoyed the Kurig coffee machine in the room Would definitely stay again at this location
The hotel has a lot of interesting Indigenous artwork, and the largest dreamcatchers I've ever seen. At first I wasn't sure if the place was mocking our culture or just really liked dreamcatchers. Turns out it's First Nations owned, so I guess we just differ dramatically in taste. The lobby was a comfortable place to sit and do some work or talk with colleagues. There's a huge fir tree, which must be terrific round the winter holidays. The food was great, with lots of variety. My room (228) was a bit of an odd duck, made of two main rooms joined by a long hall, making it shaped like a barbell, plus a bathroom. It doesn't have a closet or a safe. It has a door to an adjoining room, which isn't ideal if you're staying in it alone. The chair in the room had a broken foot which I discovered when I sat on it, although hotel staff were good about it when I reported the problem. The staff are friendly and helpful. In a different room a stay here would be fine. Best if you have a vehicle; the area isn't very pedestrian friendly.
Stayed here two weekends in a row for one night. Great location for accessing shopping, movie theatres, and some restaurants. The check-in was easy and quick. As a resident of Fort McMurray (had to show ID) we got a Junior Suite (2 queen sized beds) for $109/night, which included breakfast. Its a better rate than online booking services (which don't include breakfast). The room was very clean, the beds were super comfortable (although could use a couple more pillows on each bed (3-4 instead of 2). The included breakfast was a buffet with fruit, oatmeal, toasts/croissants/danishes, sausages and bacon, plain scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs with veggies in it, french toast/pancakes. It was all hot and fresh. Lots of parking and had not issues with the safety of our loaded vehicle (I did cover the contents with a black blanket). There is an onsite restaurant/bar, but we used Uber to go elsewhere.
We had a great stay at this hotel! Upon checkin our room had been put out of order (2 bed suite) so we were assigned a one bed suite (with baby and pet) that didn't work too well for us but as they were fully booked there was no alternative at the time. Mukesh had taken our booking and worked with us to find a solution and give us different options to accommodate our small dog and space needs. On checkout there was a billing issue and he also rectified that quickly when I called in to clarify. The cons we found - depending on your room location the railway runs along the entire one side of the hotel, so having a kiddo stay on that end (one of our options when our room wasn't available) wouldn't have been a great night, room service is crazy expensive with additional fees ($53 for a wedge salad and spaghetti and meatballs +$5 tip), and would skip that option next time altogether. Because we had a dog we were on the first floor section that was specific for pet rooms. I always find that when hotels are laid out like this and don't let pets in most rooms (to be spread out) that the dogs can be really loud as they hear each other and will bark. There was a dog next door barking a lot until almost midnight and the walls seemed paper thin when we could hear it's owner yelling at it. BUT - had we received our original room booking and not been with a pet in the pet section I think our stay would have been about perfect. Great location and close to South Common for shopping, restaurants, etc. And the staff are incredible :)
Although this hotel is between a highway and a railway, the hotel is a very pleasant place to stay. The staff are so friendly and kind. My husband and I screwed up on reading our invitation to an event at the hotel, arriving early and needing to leave later. The hotel staff were so understanding...gave us a late check out and didn't charge us extra. We'll stay there again.
The Sawridge Inn has clean good sized rooms and well maintained facilities. We and our dogs were welcomed in modern ground floor nonsmoking smoking room. They provided each dog with treat bag containing poop bags. Outside there was good grassy areas to exercise and potty your dogs on leash. Across from the front entrance there was a poop bags dispenser and trash place to dispose of used bags. Each morning we had a great hot and cold breakfast buffet. One day we took advantage of happy hour specials and enjoyed dinner on a relaxed environment. Menu had reasonable selection at competitive prices and quality to nearby alternate dining options. Location was convenient for access and getting onto major roadways. The hotel is located between major street and CPR rail line. So there was some car and rail traffic noise outside but inside we were pleasantly surprised how quiet our room was. We saw a good mix of families, business travellers and responsible dog owners enjoying the facilities during our stay. Staff were very pleasant, professional and attentive. Overall great value and comfortable and welcoming.
This is our 3rd stay at this hotel. We are so pleased with every aspect. The staff are wonderful. The rooms are great and the price is incredible. We love the breakfast. We are in the city once a month to attend concerts, go to meetings and appointments- this is our hotel of choice.
As soon as I walked, Victoria greated me, and checked me in. Whoa, what professional and friendly service. Every encounter with staff for my whole visit was just as pleasant. The chef nailed the salmon, it was perfect. Breakfast bar beats every American chain and the only equal I had recently, was in Germany. I will definitely be back.
