WE HAD A WONDERFUL STAY AT THIS HOTEL BEAUTIFULLY RENOVATED HOTEL, OUTSIDE OF LOW WATER PRESSURE IN THE SINKS AND SHOWERS, EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. TRY THE HAGGIS, IT IS ACTUALLY QUITE TASTY.

At best a 4-star hotel. I don't think the room is worth more than $200 per night. It would be way overpriced if that was the price in BP. Although the room was large, it was long and narrow. The lighting was inadequate. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. The room and bathroom are very clean, however, the plumbing was a disaster. Every time I tried to adjust the faucet for the bathtub, the shower would come one. Also when I went to open the drain, the entire drain mechanism came off in my hand. They couldn't fix it and I changed rooms where I had the same problem. The staff is very helpful. I found the public spaces like the Peacock room very uninviting.

The hotel is in a PERFECT location. It is a short walk to the Castle, and on Princes St, a central commercial destination with a beautiful park. The building is gorgeous and the rooms fine. There is a lot of construction going on so the front lobby was non existent by the time we left but hopefully it will make the place even more pleasant.

Beautiful, spacious, immaculate room and bath. Nice location and a most accommodating staff. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

From the moment I stepped in I felt as if I had been transported back to a finer and gentler time. From the old clock that had been in the original railway station, to the grand staircase, no detail had been overlooked. It was luxurious and comfortable. The staff were all welcoming. When I checked in I was given a room upgrade (I'm not sure why.) I had the most beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle and since the tattoo was on I got treated to fireworks each night. The staff bent over backwards to make sure that all my wants and needs were being taken care of. I'd like to particularly commend the restaurant staff and the team of concierges who helped me with everything from booking tours to helping me with driving directions to remote parts of Scotland. Across the street is the not to be missed bar/restaurant/club Ghillie Dhu. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Our stay at the Caledonia Hilton all went well. The rooms, the food and service were all great. However, there was one standout performance by Malcolm at the concierge desk. He was the absolute best concierge we have ever experienced. Great help with travel plans, restaurants, helping with airport and rental cars. He even told me the right club to hit off the first tee at St. Andrews! Simply remarkable.

We traveled to Edinburgh for my daughter's wedding at the castle in St. Margaret's Chapel. Our hotel was located right in the middle of all the places we wanted to go - plus I had a front row seat to the best view of the castle in town...right from my hotel window. The staff was helpful and courteous and the concierge was the best I've ever had!

The main floor of the hotel was beautiful and the waitstaff at the main restaurant that served my included breakfast was always friendly. The tea and shortbread in the room were a welcome treat at the end of a long day of touring. The room, though a good size, was average and after a couple of days, the outdated bathroom started to smell musty. While I appreciated that the concierge had an iTouch charger (mine didn't work, even with an adapter) only some of the workers knew where to find it. I was also surprised how little the concierge knew. They didn't know where to pick up the night bus to the airport or how to get a train to Glasgow. Overall the hotel was nice, but not great. The location was good, but the hotel needs some TLC. While I enjoyed my stay and I got a good rate, I would not have guessed that this was a 5 star hotel. Everything in consideration, I would give it high 3 maybe low 4 stars at best.

We only stayed in the hotel one night en route to northern Scotland. The location was great- we were able to walk to the main highlights of Edinburgh very easily from the hotel. Breakfast was wonderful- including an omelette station! The concierge was also very helpful. The only difficulty was in driving to enter the parking lot of the hotel- it is a one way street and very confusing

Good location for touring Edinburgh by foot. Elegant hotel, wonderful breakfast, good gym facilities, comfortable room. Charge for internet access was excessive.

This hotel is very nice. The rooms are small, but very clean and quiet, The breakfast is very good. the concierge service is very helpful. They are efficient and accessible. The front desk staff wasn't terribly welcoming, but the concierge staff was. We were able to buy castle tickets and obtain a taxi right there. This hotel is centrally located downtown, so that was nice.

The staff was fantastic and very helpful. This hotel was in a good location, but the room did not live up to expectations. It was nice and clean, but not very big. The bed was not very comfortable and I could hear all the doors on my floor slam every time someone went in or out.

Our room was very nice. Roomy bathroom with great shower (2 shower heads). Hotel updated recently. Comes with big, comfy robes. Had a great view of the castle. Only negative is that it is right on street - so all nightlife activity from outside can be heard.

Perfect location in central Edinburgh. Wonderful staff. 2 great restaurants. Excellent breakfast buffet. Close enough to walk to just about anything. Very comfortable rooms.

Overall great experience. Was attending the Fringe festival, where I was involved with a play that was showing. Reception gave me a nice room upgrade from a good deal I got through orbitz. Room was on the top floor, nice view, big bathroom, and quiet. I was able to get lots of rest and pick up a good rhythm between the play, events and activities.

The hotel is old but well cared for. Every employee is kind and helpful. Breakfast is a treat, especially if it is included in the price, as it was for me.

The staff and the service was absolutely sparkling and made up for the lack of maintainence and poor ventilation. Looking past that the hotel is an historic hotel, things like ventilation and rotten window frames need to be fixed.

Very clean and comfortable room. The hotel is elegant and centrally located to the old city center. The breakfast was out of this world and the staff were very friendly and helpful! I will definitely return in the future!

Very good hotel in an excellant location. Service 'spot on' as expected. Single room was small with a single bed and quite noisy (water heating system?), although great view of city.

Enjoyed my stay at the Caledonian- great location, great room, nice big bathroom. The buffett breakfast was great. Also went to the spa and had a good experience- wouldn't say it was the best spa though. The only downside is that I woke up one of the nights with the noise outside. The location is so central that on a weekend night you might hear noise from party goers outside.
