We loved it all but the steep stairs were a bit daunting. Would choose the downstairs unit next time.
Very clean, great location, great service and convenient for everything.
After Viv, the proprietor of Sherwood, was encouraged by her friends to open a B&B she pursued it and here we are. Couldn’t have been a better decision. Viv understands the service and hospitality industry and it is a bonus that she created a wonderful house to share with her guests. The Sherwood has typical smaller guest rooms, but is fine for what it is. A room to sleep in, and if needed, watch the TV for a bit. The home is wonderfully renovated and shows great care for details. The breakfast is excellent with soft classical music to accompany. Viv greeted us at the door and asssisted with all our questions from start to finish. SHe has definitely found her groove and I would recommend the Sherwood to anyone. Probably the only things I can say that are negative is there is no sitting area, but we were not there to sit, but see. Anyone who wants a place to hang and read or socialize will need to go to a local pub...of which there are a number. Viv recommended the Old Bell, and it was so good we ate there a few times. Highly recommend!!
I was at a conference at the University of Edinburgh. The guest house is very close and walkable to the old city and Arthur's Seat. Viv, the hostess was very friendly and helpful, and there was a very nice spread for breakfast. What else could you ask for?
