Loved the neighborhood and was a perfect studio/1bed with loft bed for our family. We were able to walk to restaurants, shops and still easily walk to Edinburgh Castle and other sites. It was a nice to see how those living in Edinburgh live vs being in a hotel.
I stayed one night here after a works event in Edinburgh and I just love this place. The apartments are well thought out, warm, clean, quiet and really well located. Don’t be put off by them not being city centre, it’s literally 10 mins on a bus and there are loads of great bars, cafes and shops right on your doorstep. Great for business but I’d also recommend for a great value family stay.
We stayed here after Hogmanay. Beautiful modern apartment. All mod cons and great location. Shops and coffee shops around the corner. About 10 minutes to the castle ( £8:50 approx in a taxi). Highly recommend.
We decided on a night away at the start of January with our two young girls, we stayed in apartment one, it was very cosy and warm and decorated to a high standard, both the double bed and sofa bed were so comfortable we actually slept in. The apartment had everything you needed and the WiFi connection was brilliant. We had one small problem that the kettle would not work but after calling this was sorted straight away nothing was any bother, we certainly will be booking again. Thank you for a lovely stay
Despite the high score that this residence has, the treatment I had was terrible. I made a reservation in it for 1 day, but unfortunately I ended up losing a flight connection, not being able to be present in Edimburg at the time of check in. I tried several times to ask for the cancellation of the reservation, although I knew that it could be denied, I thought that they could understand me a bit, reaching an agreement. Although 2 days to check in I did not get a single email at any time, they simply debited the total amount and ignored me. Manages totally indifferent to the client. That lack of respect. Very bad indeed. I have always been super well treated in Edinburgh, but with this residence I have a very bad experience.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city which I visit often as my daughter lives there, however I find the cost of hotels ridiculously overpriced, even the budget selection. The Merchiston Residence originally caught my eye as it is within walking distance to my daughters flat, the cost was pretty reasonable - for a 2 night stay £250. What a pleasant surprise on entering the premises though, we were in the basement studio (which although small) was decorated and fitted to make wonderful use of the limited space. The decoration was of an exceptionally high standard and fitted with the best quality kitchen appliances, and was very, very clean. The flat contained everything you'd need, including a large flat screen TV and DVD player. Bathroom was spacious, fantastic shower also, I would certainly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Edinburgh.
Wow wow wow what a great apartment. You will find it hast to go out as so lovely, clean and contemporary. We got rained in the first day and had a problem tk get the heating on. The staff could not help enough and came with an electric radiator within 30 mins. Location is great 2 buses go to the royal mile and take 10 minutes taking you through historic buildings. Local cafes and bars are lovely breckie and evening meal. Busy and locals always a good sign. I would come back next week if I could it was so chilled.
We visited Edinburgh for the fringe festival and we were immensely pleased with the comfort at this place , the overall ambience and the convenience close by. Also it was nice to note that there was no compromise with any of the appliances or cutlery etc ( no ikea stuff around ) and super luxury bed sheets n linen . Our boys loved their loft beds as well not to forget the DVD player with a nice selection of dvds . But the most important was the great daily housekeeping service! Thank you all at Merchiston 👌🏽
We were in Edinburgh for a few days and found out about Merchiston Residences through TripAdvisor. Made the reservation and got the confirmation. A few days before our arrival we received an email with the code for access. The one downside was that it didn't confirm the address of the location for the Residences we were staying in and went to main office instead of unit. When we got there if was on the top floor of the building which was a bit tough with heavy suitcases. Got into apartment and it was small but very nice. Everything was compact but had full kitchen including combined washer dryer which at this point in the trip was very useful for wash a few personal items. Picked up some times at the nearby grocery for breakfast and snacks which was nice instead of having to go out to restaurants. When we finally got a sense of the neighborhood and location was actually very nice to be in a neighborhood location instead of the the more active center and many buses nearby to get you around quickly. Nice option to a typical hotel type setting.
My wife and I stayed at the Merchiston Residence for 2 nights during a trip to England and Scotland. We stayed in a very nice studio located on a quiet street. The studio was very clean et very well equipped. There is no staff on premisses, but the concierge over the phone is very efficient. The building is located about 10 minutes from center by car or cab. I would definitely return.
