Angel's Share Hotel

Edinburgh's Angels Share Hotel, located on Hope Street, provided a 4-star stay and an extraordinary experience.  The small boutique property is located within walking distance of the city's famous Prince's Street and Waverly Railway Station.  What separates this hotel is not just superior customer service but the attention to details in each of its world capital-themed rooms.  We were originally scheduled to check into the Barcelona Room but promptly upgraded to Casablanca.  Roomy and spacious with good views and sitting areas, the accommodations featured a huge bathroom with a separate shower and tub; ample closet and storage space, along with ironing board; complimentary coffee and tea service; excellent bath and bed linens; a noteworthy selection of free local magazines; and of course, free wi-fi.  The customer service is exemplary; the price point, more than fair.

Spent the night here before going to a show nearby. Room was lovely(Andy Murray!!!),bar beautiful(pic included) and staff welcoming and friendly. Very central for visiting Edinburgh and a stone's throw from most attractions. Didn't actually dine here as we had already booked near the show venue but will definitely be back very soon.

Checking process was good and staff were very friendly and helpful. I arrived early, so the hotel offered to look after my luggage until check in time. My main complaint was the room. They are all themed on famous Scott’s, and I had the Kelly McDonald room, which was very poky to say the least. The toilet flush was faulty, as was the riser rail in the shower. Probably OK for one night, but after three was getting a bit claustrophobic. Having said that, I did see other rooms which were much bigger.I had lunch in the hotel restaurant which was good, as was the full Scottish breakfast.

My friend and I stayed in the Angels Share hotel just for one night, as we were had booked a tour at the Edinburgh Gin Distillery, which is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is very quirky, especially as it is named after famous Scots! We hoped for Gerard Butler’s room but sadly it was occupied. We were in Amy McDonald’s room, which was lovely, clean and very comfy bed! The hotel itself had a lovely relaxing atmosphere, modern and sleek and the staff were very friendly & helpful. We didn’t eat in the hotel as there are a few bars and restaurants all within walking distance.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a hotel at the edge of downtown and the West side. This hotel was 1 block from the airport bus drop off and walking distance to it all. Room was spacious and very clean. There is an elevator and a nice restaurant and bar on the ground floor. Each room has its own celebrity identity which was so fun. Price was also comparable.

This hotel totally lived up to our expectations. We stayed in the Annie Lennox room. It was very clean and very comfortable. I notice some guests had complained about noise from the bar, we didn't suffer from this, although we did notice a lot of street noise, but that's to be expected in the middle of a busy city, I'm sure we wouldn't have heard this if we had shut the window. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, advising which buses to use etc. We arrived earlier than our check in and were allowed into the room as it was ready, which was a bonus. Couldn't fault this hotel at all. The daily Tunnocks tea cake was a nice touch.

My wife and I stayed for two nights for our minimoon. Our room was ready and waiting for us on arrival and the extra items we ordered were sent up shortley after our arrival. When we checked out we were allowed to leave our bag in a safe room until closer to out train departure time. Facilities were fine, nice bathroom and decent enough bed. I know each room has a theme but having a giant picture of Dennis Law above my honeymoon bed was very strange. While there was nothing wrong with the hotel I think if returning to Edinburgh I'd use a budget chain.

We booked this hotel more by chance when looking for somewhere interesting to stay in Edinburgh. So pleased we did...all the staff were young and friendly. The bedrooms are named after a famous Scottish celeb. We were in the Gerard Butler room which had a huge photo of his face above the bed. The room was spacious. There is a mini bar offering drinks at high prices but we didn’t succumb. Comfy king size bed and great shower. We ate in the bar on the first night and as guests we received 20% off the food menu. The food was delicious. The bar itself is a delight looking more like a sophisticated night club. I could almost imagine the chandeliers turning into Disco lights at the stroke of midnight and the barman becoming a DJ! All in all a great experience and I would recommend to anyone staying in Edinburgh for a few days. We will definitely return.

Stayed here as it was convenient for the Ghillie Dhu for my sons wedding . A bit confusing for signing in for the hotel as is just a tiny desk in the restaurant ! Have to say the staff were all lovely though !!The rooms are lovely once you find them so many stairs and levels room 205 is on level 3 !! Rooms are all quirky and different but a bit on the small side not much room for moving around !! Price is just room only breakfast extra and we all had bother with our room keys not working ( we had a lot of family staying for the wedding ) but all in all a good stay . Really good discount at the NCP car park in castle terrace by the way !!!

Stayed here with my boyfriend the last weekend in July for a birthday treat. Wanted to stay in the city centre and for 2 nights we found the price offer for Angels Share better than any of other boutique hotels around. We stayed in the David Coulthard room which had large double bed, lots of fluffy pillows, mini bar and fridge, plenty of wardrobe space for 2 and sliding door bathroom. Window looks out onto the alley behind House of Frasers (not an issue as paying for the more basic rooms in a city centre hotel you can't be fussy over not having a view) Have seen a few other reviews mention double rooms being small but we found it a good size for us and appreciated the high quality of a slightly smaller room than the basic facilities in larger rooms in chain hotels. Bed and feather pillows were extremely comfy, window opened fine to let in a breeze though unfortunately with it being a Friday night there was noise from the bar downstairs but only more so when the door to the bar was opened (again, staying in city centre at the weekend, this is to be expected) Service of hotel staff was also excellent - both when I arrived early and on the day we left we had several bags and asked if they could possibly be stored somewhere until we came back from our day out which the woman on reception said was no bother at all. Only one minor issue was that when we went to take sparkling water from the mini fridge we found a previous occupant had drank both and filled them up with tap water - however we didn't even notice this until after we had taken them out the fridge and saw the seal was broken so easy thing to miss. We had a lovely weekend overall in Edinburgh and staying at the Angels Share made it very special.
