Hotel is in a quiet area; good location for sightseeing. Pleasant room on ground floor with 2 side chairs and sheers on the windows (in addition to drapes) for privacy. But it was chilly. I was told heat wasn’t working, and they gave me a space heater, which helped. While the usual tea/coffee were available in the room, other items on that tray (peanuts, Pringles) were part of the mini-bar for which one paid, so beware. Also provided were a thick bathrobe and slippers, fast WiFi. This was an older hotel with some rooms more modern, some with interesting architecture. Bathroom had the usual toiletries but shower left something to be desired as there was no shelf for shampoo or bars to hold onto – other rooms were different, I learned, some with beams overhead and a bathtub as well as a shower. The outlet I used for charging my camera and computer was turned off when lights were turned off at the wall switch – don’t know about other outlets since I used one at the desk. Breakfast was excellent with many choices: yogurt, various proteins including bacon, sausage, usual lunch meats, eggs, and smoked salmon, a favorite. Then there were several kinds of breads, sweet rolls, little waffles, and croissants in addition to cereals, and fresh fruit: excellent. Dinners were delicious (family operated); lovely to have cloth napkins at all meals.
The best thing is the breakfast room. Though for the 21€ to pay for breakfast you might expect more than you get. The room we had was also not as expected from what we saw advertised what looked like old factory charm. In our opinion the room was below 4 star standard, a bit run down. Though the staff is friendly and it was clean.
Does not look like much from the outside but looks can be deceiving. Very good property, I had an excellent room overlooking the river (a bit noisy during the day). Well located within easy walk of the old city. Good sized bathroom and all the room amenities that you could want.
One room was beautiful, very Tudor type style, gorgeous canopy bed and extra large tub. The other room felt like a motor lodge, much smaller with with broken furniture and faulty equipment. The hotel elevator was really faulty. The breakfast was amazing, gorgeous views and excellent food no drink selection for breakfast. They let you hold your bags there until check in and they held onto our passports while we toured Ghent, which was very worth visiting. It would be nice if their bar was open. What confused me is we each booked separate rooms but we were both supposed to get similar rooms as they were the same price, but one of us got a nice room while the other got a not nice room.
beautiful hotel in such an amazing city. I recommend you to choose and try here. But you need to have a chance for the weather. The location was fantastic and the service was good as well. You can go the city centre by walk and see all the important places in Ghent.
Nice medium range hôtel. Rooms are original and spacy. The ones with views on the canal are charming. Good location in the very center of Gent. Parking at the public car Park would be recommanded as the neibourghood do rarely allows parking. Breakfast is definately too expansive if not included in a package.
Booked to stay here based on good reviews. The hotel is well located and a short walk to central Ghent - approx a 15 min taxi ride from Sint Pieters station. I had a room on the third floor over looking the river - room itself was very spacious, if a little dated in terms of decor. However the walls are very thin and you can certainly hear your neighbours in the next room, (and on one evening from the room next to theirs (as my neighbours then banged on their wall to shut them up!)). Also during the day be aware that commentary from the frequent boat trips in the river below is noticeable in the room. TV, in room coffee machine and Wifi coverage all good. Bathroom is a decent size with bath and shower. Breakfast buffet was extra at 21 euros per day and whilst the selection was good and the breakfast room was large and airy, I felt it was overpriced for what you get each morning. Staff on front desk were helpful throughout.
Stayed here overnight on a business trip. Its a small and cozy place in an area close to port of Ghent but it lacked a restaurant. I had to walk out and find a place to eat which is the only trouble for choosing this while on a busy trip.
Hotel was part of a very affordable Eurostar package and did not disappoint. Just up from the market square, but in a quiet-enough area. Room 210 was spotless, spacious and warm and had everything we needed; overlooked a side road. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on this, but the bar was well-priced. Staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the communal-use landing area around the atrium-style lighting installation. Wifi was good, too.
Good Points: The location is great, near lots of food shops, bars and cafes The room is really clean Short easy walk from main train station, 20 minutes the buffet breakfast has lots of selection, but the fried eggs were cold as left out. bad points don't get asked for id when you check-in, big security issue, you could be anyone only get one sachet of coffee per person the room is really old and needs a major refurb, furniture from the seventies and looks out onto a car park. not a place to stay if you want a romantic break away.
