Fine hotel in the centre of Gent. Room could use some renovation on some places and the badroom floor had some strange rough tiles. However for two nights it is fine. If you do not have breakfast in you booking it is very expensive to arrange this seperately. No problem however, at the other side of the market there is a nice boulangery called Paul which worth the visit.
Stayed for three nights in this really good hotel Great location by the river, room was ok size but could have been bigger and brighter Great buffet breakfast on top floor Definitely would stay here again
The rooms are massive- a four-poster bed and the little girl had her own section with a child's bed. Lovely old design. The bathroom was fantastic- a massive shower! The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of tasty food. The hotel is situated a few hundred yards from town which was very handy. Would definitely return here again.
We didn’t stay at the hotel but discovered it is one of the best places to grab an international breakfast among friends. Great views, friendly staff and a large variety of quality products to cater for various breakfast habits and cultures.
The reason why we picked this hotel was the location. At the water and close to shopping, food and sightseeing. Parked the car at “parking Vrijdagmarkt” not that cheap (€26/Day) but above ground, at least as expensive. It is a 2min walk to the hotel. We had an executive room, bit more room because we needed the babybed (placed free of charge) Room is clean, Nice authentic with the brick wall. Large bathroom. Minibar (not free :) and a lovely view at the river “Leie”, during the Day boats pass by. Skipped breakfast, not big eaters, because of the price €21 Did not use gym or sauna (€9/hour) Would Recommend this hotel for the location
Very pleased with this hotel for the price we paid. Breakfast was excellent with a great range of hot & cold food. Small bar with a long list of beers to work through in happy hour! Walkable to everywhere. Only thing is if you just have a standard room they are on the ground floor with thin walls so can get disturbed.
Front of house staff and restaurant staff were exceptional, until it came to the final bill when a night porter prepared it at 5.15 am, and we were overcharged city tax by four days - he was not prepared to sort the issue and this is being dealt with on our return home. Also, housekeeping was a bit of a let down as was the bed linen and towels, all of which have seen better days. The king size bed was in fact two singles pushed together and we kept falling down the middle!
We stayed late November and had a great time. Ghent is beautiful and this Hotel is in a perfect location to see it all. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and we all slept really well and awoke to a well presented breakfast with plenty of choice. I'm not sure there is much more to add and we plan to return to Ghent next December to enjoy the Christmas markets and will probably come back here
An excellent location. It is close to the Friday market and easy walking to other areas. It is on the river, though you get little sense of this even in the breakfast room on the top floor and overlooking the river, Even the corridors were warm, unusually so and the room was fine. As others have said, not glamorous, but fine - and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom floor was a sort of rubber - not a good choice in terms of look as it gets discoloured due to water etc, but no other issue beyond that. The breakfast was excellent and the staf were courteous and helpful
We stayed here for our city break. The staff were helpful and friendly. Service was efficient. The rooms are not glamorous but are clean and equipped to a satisfactory standard. Lovely high ceilings making the room seem spacious. An international breakfast is available. Easy and convenient fir visiting this beautiful city. Would come back.
