The room was awesome. The only issue was a thick layer of dust on the ceiling fan which we cleaned off to use. The breakfasts are very good. The staff was invariably courteous. The location is perfect. We will be back.

1898 Deluxe

The General Palmer is right next door to the Durango Silverton Railroad so it is perfect for anyone planning to ride the train early in the morning. It is also a good way to immerse yourself in the past before getting on an old railroad. The beds and linens are very comfortable and the hot water for my shower was instant and plentiful. There is no desk in the room where you could plug in your laptop and work though there is a flat screen tv, marble countertop at the sink and the clothes closet smelled of cedar wood. It is old style elegance. The elevator is tiny and has a retractable cage. It was the first elevator in Colorado. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Chandler.
