Staff of Jessie, Sarah, & Mason were helpful which we appreciated with the problems of the room. Heater couldn’t be used & door lock had issues. Both problems were addressed. Room was small & the stairs were OK but would be a problem for many. No elevator for use in this wing. The morning we departed the stairs & railings were slick! Location was a plus!
Beautiful hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. Comfy bed and pillows. Very clean.
Great location, walking distance to great restaurants and bars.
Main thing likeable about this hotel is the historical intrigue as it was built in 1898.
Wonder place to stay. Perfect location. Wonderful staff. Will definitely stay here again
The General Palmer is an atmospheric hotel with period decor and fantastic location. I walked to my dinner restaurant and enjoyed the complimentary coffee and delicious cookies. I was able to leave my parked car in their private lot the following day as I journeyed on the Surango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. A most pleasant stay.
Very neat special spot with comfy beds Loved the elevator too
room was beautiful and clean but it was 80degrees in the room, they furnished a fan but it was still too hot for sleeping
It is right downtown Durango so you can walk everywhere. Shopping, restaurants theaters and train station. Hotel has an excellent ambiance. I will definitely stay there again.
The hotel was very nice and the evening attendant was very helpful. The breakfast buffet could use some improvement. Overall, we'd go back.
Nice room, great breakfast. Friendly staff, on Main Street.
Beautiful vintage Victorian hotel in tourist/college town at Fall change of leaf colors season. The season was visually beautiful, but night times were quite chilly. That was a problem with our hotel room, because we could not figure out how to make the thermostat work!
The hotel was very nice. It was located downtown within walking of restaurants, brew pubs, and shops. It is right next to the train depot so be prepared for the train whistle early in the morning. The room was nice and the hotel had a very historic architecture and quaint feel. The only draw back was the old elevator took a little getting use to work.
The General Palmer was a great stop for us on our trip through Southern Colorado. The hotel is a beautiful combination of Old West charm and modern convenience. Very conveniently located with good breakfast options.
Beautiful old hotel in the downtown area, well restored and maintained; delightful and comfortable room with upgraded amenities (except no mini fridge). ADA facilities lacking: no handicap parking, stairs at entrance, elevator is tiny, most difficult and challenging to operate, lack of assistance by staff. Front desk staff is lacking in common courtesy; refused to assist with luggage, they don't greet guests as they come into the hotel unless they specifically go the front desk, one young man needs to leave the hospitality industry altogether. Fortunately he has a counterpart who should be put in charge, as he understands Four Star service and commitment; probably the most courteous person we met on our entire trip. Apparently the General Manager is never on site as I could not get a response from them in the 3 days we were there.
