The room was awesome. The only issue was a thick layer of dust on the ceiling fan which we cleaned off to use. The breakfasts are very good. The staff was invariably courteous. The location is perfect. We will be back.

Fantastic stay

I wish all hotel stays would go as well as our stay at the General Palmer. Wonderful staff, spacious room with comfortable bed, and excellent downtown location. Would definitely stay here again!

Our only complaint, and it's a small one, is the room size. Everything else, particularly the service, was fantastic. Great town with many restaurant and shopping choices. Hotel is a grand, old Western downtown hotel that is well preserved

The Hotel was historic but at the same time very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful with local suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Being next to the Steam Train added to the experience. Our room was in a secondary building and had no access except for a staircase which was not a issue but could be for some with mobility challenges.

Hôtel parfait pour séjourner dans le centre de Durango. L’hôtel a énormement de cachet car ancien. Il est propre, très bien entretenu et la literie confortable. Certes le prix de la chambre est élevé mais il en vaut la peine vu le style et la localisation en plein centre à côté de la gare. Le personnel est au top. Le petit dejeuner est correct et il y a des fruits frais. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel pour Durango

Mixed experience!

This hotel was great for us as we were visiting for the Durango-Silverton train and the location is perfect for this! However, because of its proximity to the train, it is difficult to get a good nights sleep due to train horn/whistles being sounded from very early morning as they get ready for the day with train movements next to the hotel. Obviously, for us this wasn’t a problem as we were getting up for the train anyway, but is worth knowing if you’re not going to be riding early. Other than that, staff were all great and friendly, room was clean and for such an old hotel the building was in good shape! Good location for walking into Durango too. Plenty of free parking.

Great historic hotel in downtown old Durango

Beautiful historic hotel that allows walking to all of downtown Durango. If you're taking the Durango Silverton train it’s a 5 minute walk at most to it. Rooms were spacious and very clean.
