A very comfortable hotel only 5 minutes walk from the main railway station. My superior room was very large and comfortable with everything you would want including free Wi-Fi and coffee making machine. Good quality breakfast with lots of choice. Very friendly bar with good choice of drinks.
If the room was small - the bathroom was tiny. Just about enough room to get round the beds - and the bathroom was like a cupboard! The there was probably about 100cm by 30cm of floor space empty between the shower, toilet and basin. Dead, squashed fly on the net curtains - and bedside shelves that were nowhere near horizontal. For a mere £150 a night - I'm feeling more than a little robbed!! That said - Breakfast was quite nice - parking was good - but both were extra € Would I stay there again - quite simply - no way. I've stayed in Travelodges and Premier Inns at a fraction of the cost with way better rooms, beds and bathrooms.
We arrived at the Mercure a day too early and at midnight!!! We had booked the wrong day. The night time staff found us a room without any fuss or incurring any charge, which in this day and age is pretty amazing. They then went outside their job description and found us a camp bed for our daughter to sleep on. We were very impressed with how helpful these two staff were and so very grateful for their kindness and dedication to their job. Thank you.
First the good points:- We arrived before midday and were able to go straight to our room. Bedroom was modern, bed comfortable, kettle to make tea/coffee, aircon & wifi worked well. Water was hot and towels fluffy. Breakfast was quite comprehensive. Staff reasonably friendly. Drawbacks: Bathroom was very small, the floor tiles were very grubby, and stepping into the bath was quite difficult because the side of the bath is quite high to climb over, and a little slippery. We are not large people and quite agile, so this was disconcerting. We complained about the floor tiles, and after the maid scrubbed them they were not so grubby, but still not clean. Its position is quite good - about 300 metres from Dusseldorf's main station (Haubtbahnhof), which is just 15 minutes from the airport using train S11 (€2.70 each way in June 2017), and about 1km from the main shopping streets and a little further to the Altstadt and the Rhein - and easy to walk to/from all of these. As I said in the title, it was OK for a weekend.
Second time I've started here now. Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms include a bath and shower. Check in is usually swift but check out on both occasions has been very lengthy. Not enough staff to minimise the waiting time at peak times. The restaurant is small but quite reasonable with good choices. The hotel bar is also small but offers a wide selection. Excellent breakfast buffet with both hot and cold items. Getting taxis in the morning can be lengthy so prebook.
Location of this Hotel is good. Easy access to main train station. Have several restaurant & bars around. Which is very nice. The Hotel Rooms and bathroom are pity small. They don't keep any Mini-Bar / Fridge in room, which is very bad. Safe-box in room is toooooo small.
We usually stay in Mercure Nord when we are in Dusseldorf, but thought we would choose a more central location this time. While we found the hotel to be comfortable and the staff friendly, it's proximity to the red light district and a busy and dusty main road detracted from the experience.
Went there on a quick business trip. Room was clean, bed confortable, bathroom clean, breakfast rich in options, very quite to sleep - overal to be recommended for central business visits. Service was swift and efficient.
Great location - short walk from the main railway station. Requested a quiet room and I had a rear facing room on the 1st floor. Check in fast. Restaurant has a good selection of food if you have a late check in and the bar is great to relax. Staff great at check in.
The hotel is located in a very good place with very easy access to main train station, down town, city attractions and Brand markets - konigsallee. Rooms are clean and daily makeup is done. Reception staff are friendly. Breakfast is very good. Early check in and late check out is possible.
