Having read a lot of the reviews (good and bad), I was curious as to how the hotel was going to be. The location is great and within walking distance to Bournemouth town center. The lobby is pleasant and the staff very helpful. The elevators are very small, just enough for 2 people. The rooms are clean, light and airy. Plenty of extra pillows if you look in the closet. The value of this hotel is with the extra's. The free breakfast is great. Some of the other reviewers complained about it, but I didn't experience any of their issues (one complained about breakfast ending at 10am...? C'mon!). The only issue I did see was the dis-organisation. The dining room is very big and the staff they have work extremely hard to keep food items on the buffet line while clearing tables. They seem to clear tables piece by piece, instead of clearing one table and moving on to the next, leaving guests looking for somewhere to sit. I think a manager in the dining room to keep things running smoothly would be a good idea. Other than that, the food is very good, with plenty of selection. The hotel staff are superb. Most of them are Eastern European, but that's most hotels here and there was never a language issue. They're also very friendly and helpful. They had nightly entertainment while I was there and the bar did seem to have an "old people's home" feel to it, with 50-60 older guests watching the show. But then again, these type of caberet singers never did attract the young crowd. Parking seemed to be a small issue too. I parked on an adjacent street, which was only 2-3 pounds a day. Overall, it's a very good hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. And for $83 a night, you definitely can't beat the price.
