Due to meetings in Donegal I needed an overnight stay and from trip adviser found the Mill Park based on the general reviews. I asked my office to book and lodge a credit card to cover the room and any extras. Room booked and confirmation received. On arrival, premises looked good with plenty of parking. Location overlooking the dual carriage way not great but a the rear it was better. Walked into reception to be faced with A4 paper stuck over door apologising for the renovation works taking place. It’s a pity that advance warning wasn’t provided to guest who had booked rather than face this racket on arrival. The noise at 1730 was so loud even the receptionist couldn’t hear me speak my name. ( possibly not helped by the fact my name on the hotels form was badly spelt - first and surname!) There was further issue over the credit card used for the booking......it was to be used for paying the room and extras yet the receptionist insisted it was just to hold the room...... Eventually it was agreed that it would be used as intended. I asked for a room away from the noise of the builders and this was provided. Large room, double and single bed (not sure why as I was a single guest). Furniture did feel a bit dated and looked like it had been taken from an OAP’s living room 😉 Pleased to see a walk-in shower unit. TV was ok but lacked any real selection of channels beyond local ones. 4mths working around Ireland and generally there is a good selection of international channels. WiFi was free but extremely slow.......almost walking pace and this didn’t change anywhere in the hotel. Noise was an issue with the room door hardly holding back noise from people walking past and the water pipes in the room making cluncking sounds periodically along with the next rooms guests flicking the electric sockets with the noise transmitting. I was so tired I managed to just ignore the noise. Due to the building work the main restaurant was closed so only food was in the bar. As a result it was packed. I was found a table and can say the food and service was the best part of the stay. Thanks. Finally breakfast was in an area over looking the reception......odd given the works and even stranger when the building works started again at 0800 whilst I and others were having breakfast. Not great! As I said, I had high expectations and feel let down but will try the hotel again hopefully with the works being finished.
This a hotel has newly renovated very large rooms and new bathrooms. I have a walk-in shower, so unusual in Europe so I don’t have to climb into one of the huge tubs. Beds are comfy and nice big towels. The breakfast is a typical hotel breakfast but well stocked and fresh fruit, yogurt or typical breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage. Great way to start a busy day. Close to town in 10-15 minutes.
Rooms were spacious, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very good. The Easter Bunny delivered easter eggs to all the kids staying in the hotel on Easter morning whuch was a really nice touch! Overall we were really impressed and would happily stay here again if we were in the area.
Location may not be the best if you want to walk around the town at night but I couldn't fault the facilities, service and food. Double room was spotless, spacious, and had everything from tea/coffee making facilities, excellent wifi. Only let down was the finish in the bathroom. The ceiling needed some attention, paint flaking. Was first down to breakfast in the morning and there was everything on offer.
A lovely hotel just outside Donegal town, in a country setting, with super breakfast and a very good restaurant. The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom spotlessly clean, with an excellent shower and bath. Staff were friendly and helpful and, in the restaurant and breakfast areas, amusing and particularly personable. We will return.
Stayed here a couple of times and got the impression my business didn't really matter to them. Every visit I experienced something unpleasant. One visit I stood at reception for 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged when I tried to check in. The staff clearly saw me. Another visit a waitress screamed at me when i attempted to sit down at breakfast but this seat was reserved apparently - didn't state that anywhere. Another visit I was given a room that must absorb all noise on that corridor and adjoining rooms because I could not get a wink of sleep all night. It seems you don't matter if you are not a tourist. There is a lovely man working in the restaurant ( from Dublin I think) only pleasant staff member I ever encountered there. Horrible experiences
Hotel is very nice, spacious king room, nice breakfast buffet. Just a 5 euro ride from the center. Service was friendly, we stayed 2 nights I would gave preferred to be in the center of town to make it easy to go out to pubs and restaurants
once again we had a very enjoyable break our room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated we ate in the café bar both nights and enjoyed our meals from an extensive menu the café bar has just been revamped and looks very good This hotel and the grounds are kept in pristine condition we know when we come here we are always well looked after
Friendly, helpful staff. Spacious well presented room opening onto a patio area. Excellent breakfast with great choice. Great location with plenty of parking. Television channels were very limited, would benefit from having sky tv
Comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. It was only an overnight stay but we were very happy we chose Mill Park. It met our standards and we are picky. It also had a pool for families and good parking.
