Third time here...once again a lovely welcoming stay. From the welcome at reception with a warm glass of apple and cinnamon. Every thing was awesome. The gluten free options were much more than we have experienced anywhere else. Big thanks to Peter who served us at dinner for catering so well.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding at Lough Eske on 20th October 2017; from the moment we booked the date to the day we left after the wedding we were treated wonderfully. The staff, lead by Stephen and Gertz, were amazing, the food was gorgeous, the room stunning, the bridal suite beautiful and the whole experience was perfect from start to finish. Our guests have been gushing about every aspect of the day and the attention and service they received from the hotel staff. I would highly recommend this venue for any couple getting married.
Stayed here last night with friends. Staff were so helpful and friendly from reception, afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast. Rooms were lovely and clean with very comfortable beds. It was a very relaxing enjoyable stay.
Last year during our tour of Ireland we stayed at some lovely castle hotels so I guess I was expecting the same level of service and experience from Lough Eske Castle Hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Lots of places to walk and enjoy the outdoors, one long walk that we took around the lake included quite a bit of time on a road that can be busy. Check in and check out was efficient No room at the spa, and didn't use the pool. Bar area was nice, friendly staff Breakfast was ok, staff very. nice Dinner was ok Hotel was a convenient location to tour Donegal, drive to Slieve league and Glenveagh park and castle. Over all experience at the hotel was ok, not great and not bad just ok
This beautiful hotel has made it to our number 2 favorite places to stay (on this Island anyway) and we loved our overnight visit. Not only for the stunning drive down to it but for the ambiance and and service. From the second we arrived (with the concierge running towards us on our way up from the carpark to get our bags) to leaving every member of staff in this hotel is trained to a very high standard, polite, always saying hello and smiling and couldnt do more to help you, they are a real credit to the hotel. Our room was a great size (i think it was an execute room, the wife booked so not sure) massive bed and great bathroom with every little extra you would expect from a 5 star (trust me we have been to a few and have fallen short) to even the candles by the bath with the matches beside them. Everything you need for a pleasant stay is available and a very helpful concierge explaining it all to you as well is a nice touch. Our room as right at the back 315 i think and it was quite a walk along the long corridors, so id recommend you ask for a room closer if you aren't as able. We went for a walk in the afternoon (and that morning) around the grounds and down to the lake for a few photos and the walk up and down and the hotel itself are beautiful. Its great being somewhere with no traffic noise and a country setting. There are umbrella's at the doors just in case you get caught out. We had a few drinks in the the bar before heading to get change (price was pretty standard about 12 euro for a couple of pints, with an extensive list of drinks to choose from to keep you happy) then we ate in the main restaurant for dinner and again the staff were amazing from first walking in, explaining everything and looking after you. We had 2 courses (with an amuse-bouche and sorbet accompanied) with breads as well and a few drinks. Came to about 110 which was very reasonable and to a high standard, the chef is an artist !! My wife is a vegetarian and the food she got was unbelievable. My only one issue was i wanted a T-Bone, which after the order they came back to apologise as there were none left, they gave us a drink to make up for it and my choice of other steak was perfect anyway. Gives us an excuse to go back now. We had a few more drinks that evening in the bar and out in one of the many hide away rooms by an open fire before passing out on the most comfortable bed i have slept in lol Breakfast was also good and you are given warnings that at busy periods you may have to wait for a while, but luckily we were in and seated in no time. Plenty to choose from to eat, all in a buffet style with a small selection of items on the menu for ordering if you wish. I imagine it might be quick busy when the hotel is filled up. It would be the only bit i would change as i prefer (still had no issues mind you) have my breakfast served to us, just finishes of the experience. There is a Chef making amazing omelettes at the buffet area with every fresh ingredient you can think off which was nice. In summary, a great stay, beautiful setting, attentive and some of the best trained staff we have come across on our travels and are looking forward very soon to heading down again for another stay and definitely making it a longer one as we didnt get a chance to get into the Spa on this occasion. Highly recommend this as a must do experience.
Booked two nights for a get away, very disappointed, fires allowed to go out, cold reception lounges, bar area uncomfortable, bar food excellent, spa is an outdoor walk from the main house, poor facilities in the spa, small pool and even smaller thermal suite. Evening meal dining room food not great selection, nothing for the basic diner, breakfast food temperature was cool at best.Carpets on landings dirty, premises generally unkempt for a claimed 5 star establishment, hotel seemed to be understaffed. First and last visit I think.
Exquisite accomodations. Everything you'd expect staying at a castle. All of the staff were exceptionally welcoming. The grounds were so lovely with plenty of walking paths to Lough Eske. We wished we could have spent more time here and taken advantage of the spa. A true getaway.
We had a fantastic stay at Lough Eske. Everything was excellent from the get-go, including the friendly welcome by Tom who kindly assisted with our bags and parking. Dinner in Cedars restaurant was flawless, as were the cocktails in the main bar. All staff in the hotel were first-rate, in particular, Gary, who served us during the breakfast service and was highly attentive throughout. Knowing we had a long journey ahead of us, he very kindly provided us with some coffees and provisions for the road! Absolute gentleman and professional.
This to me is a first class or 5 star accommodation. The rooms were large and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds very nice and great restaurant. Location was ideal for a central home base.. If ever back in this beautiful part of Ireland we'll be staying here.
Spent a two day spa weekend in this heaven on earth, would highly recommend this hotel for anyone needing a break from reality, friendly helpful staff, fantastic food and fabulous bedrooms. The atmosphere is so relaxing, the likes I have never experienced in any other hotel. We ll definitely be booking again.
