This is an extraordinary resort. Apparently World Travel Awards have it as the World's Leading Luxury Resort and my family (Australian / Japanese) agreed wholeheartedly. It was spectacular in every way and the service was exceptional - so much that one of my daughters was literally crying about how nice everyone was. Full credit to Seif Hamdy and the entire crew at the resort. The only negative thing is that we won't be able to find another resort as good as this one anywhere so I think we have peaked!
I heard about Da Nang intercontinential through one of the travel magazine, and we booked our room couple months before using my ihg reward point and award night from the ihg credit card. We just booked a standard classic king, but the room is pretty big, the room interior design was nice, the shower great, i and my wife especially like the big shower next to the bathtub. the resort is huge so moving from one place to another would take sometime by walking, however the resort offer puggy cart to transport us in minute, we can call the puggy carts at any restaurants inside the resort, bar, gym, and also in our hotel room. The receptionist told us to call the puggy carts 10 minutes before, but it took around 3-5 minutes for them to get to our place. We went to three restaurant during our visit, The Citron, La Maison 1888, and barefoot. La Maison has the best food overall.Citron has good authentic Vietnamese food. Barefoot has good mediterranean food using local seafood. What we like best about this resort is the high quality of customer service they have provided during our trip.
The Intercontinental Da Nang is an absolute paradise. The best features of this resort is the beautiful views, the pools, the extra large room & comfy bed, the restaurants and bars within the resort and most importantly the staff who are so incredible, they went above and beyond in every way to ensure we had an enjoyable experience and the best holiday. It was so much fun riding buggies around the resort and the cable car to get around. The weather wasn't the best during our stay, so we also took advantage of the Spa for a facial, which was a beautiful experience, as well as the private cinema for movie nights and the themed Karaoke rooms which was so much fun! Overall the Intercontinental was a pleasurable experience, we really felt spoilt the whole trip.
We were there over the new year celebrating our 10th year anniversary. The resort was still brimming with guests, yet it never felt too crowded. We booked a Club's room so we had quite good attention given to us. A New Year cake was prepared for us, to celebrate our 10th anniversary they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and bouquet in the room. Every staff who served us knew it was our 10th anniversary. Well, I guess it's an important occasion so they had our room number and details on file. But here's what blew our minds away (and I have the people to acknowledge in this too, so I am hoping I got their names right). - Nguyen, the butler supervisor. Clearly a bright person with confidence with a natural flair for caring for her guests. It was never mere courtesy chitchat, there was a genuine heart for listening and would always share whatever her stories were that were relevant to us. The great news for all introverts, the staff are so empathetic and caring that they know when to stop talking without you even feeling like they speak too much. - Dat, the server, was creative and brilliant with always wanting to take his standards of cocktails and teas to another level. He always invited us to try his concoctions and they have never failed our tastebuds. However, 2 days before the end of the trip, my partner fell sick. He offered to brew a traditional tea that would take 3 hours to make. We were eager to try it to have it work, and he proceeded to make it the next day. Unfortunately, my partner got so sick that all she could do was rest in the room. Dat had prepared the tea, didn't know where we were, but he waited till past his shift when we didn't turn up. The next day when we appeared at the lounge, he came back with the tea. And it tasted so good, yet it felt like it killed every virus there was in the body. - Because of my partner being sick, we had one whole day spent in the room only. The next day was supposed to be our check-out day. We were told previously that late checkout wouldn't be possible because of the high occupancy, so we were ready to leave the room at 12noon in spite of a 8pm flight that we were catching. We went to the lounge for breakfast, and lo and behold, Ty Na the Assistant Manager told us that Viet (club server) had told her that my partner had been sick and missed an entire day to enjoy the place, and Ty Na had arranged for a late check-out for us... a 6pm late check-out. We had almost a full day given to us thanks to their kindness and the extra mile they decided to go. - Nhi (Club Lounge Hostess), Ly and Minh (Club servers) were always a delight to be around. They brought sunshine to the space every time we enter the lounge (which is perfect for rainy days). - Trung and Oanh (Citron staff) were attentive to us. Trung gave us complimentary mocktails when his staff were talking just slightly too loudly (in his point of view, not ours) in front of our table. We get it. It is a 5-star resort, such service is expected and we should not be surprised by it. But have you ever had service action that was given but you did not really experience the care behind it? This was not it. The staff clearly had humble hearts of care for us. It was a humbling experience for us even. Besides, the best service come from the people with the genuine hearts to serve. And these people were it. TL:DR: This is a great place to rest, great place to rejuvenate, great place to get creativity juices flowing from the peace, and, this is actually a great place to fall sick even. I'm not a fan of writing reviews because it takes up too much time and brain space, but this resort and how its people have been, are worth more than that time and effort required.
Everything you read about and hear is true....and then some! An amazing experience, the true definition of luxury where quality product meets exceptional service. Add to your bucket list for sure...a must! Great for families with kids OR without ...so much to do.
First time but clearly not last time at this exceptional resort. Wonderful stay i an oasis of beauty and smiles. From the moment I set foot at the airport the service of Intercontinental has been way beyond my expectations. The hotel is beautiful and even if it is a bit decentralised for some and makes up for the distance on many many counts. Being a platinum member clearly helps but from what I heard by other guest the hotel staff goes to great lengths to keep customers happy. Beautiful scenery, amazing spa, lots of choice for food, kids friendly pool and lots of activities for them, beautiful beach,... There is a micro climate above the resort so you never what the weather will be like but even if it wasn't good during my stay I truly enjoyed spending time there and will surely come back.
Love the design and details of the hotels rooms and facilities, amazing mix of modernness and Chinoiserie. Staffs are very professional and friendly, especially towards children. There were couple servers at Barefoot played with my son and another staff on the beach played with him as well. The spa experience is also great too! A perfect experience for our family holiday!
Amazing. The resort belong to the peninsula so it's quite private and good place to relax. It took a lot time to move between the resort and the city town but I think it worth. The high recommend for their services. The staff is friendly and helpful. I will back there for the next time in Da Nang
We stayed here as a family of five over the holidays for a couple of weeks, its about a 40 minute drive from the airport along a beautiful coastline past Danang. On arrival this hotel was amazingly beautiful carved into a mountain, check in was straightforward with no queues. Basically there are three levels to this hotel sky, earth and sea on arriving its slightly daunting thinking you might need to navigate steps etc as this is a big resort fear not ! Not only do they have efficient buggies to ferry you around (buggies take no more than a few mins to reach you) they have a funicular which transport you to different levels of the hotel! We had two adjoining suites which had wet rooms and beautiful views of the oceans, the monkeys roamed around at their leisure to the pleasure of the kids. The property itself is gorgeous and very well maintained, they have a great children club and brilliant separate pool for the little ones along with another adult pool with great cabanas and although it was peak season we never had an issue with finding somewhere to lounge theres a nice touch to staff bringing complimentrary water, fruit and ice cream, theres also suncream just in case :) the gym was huge and never busy. The restaurants are plentiful and food good but the country itself lacks in certain foodstuffs, it is all imported therefore a tad expensive.Every single staff we came across did everything to make us feel welcome the management team are exceptional Juan,Mohammed,Dora and Chef Didier Jacobs who went above and beyond making sure all the kids dietary requirements were met,he also cooked some amazing meals for us,we felt extremely spoilt!! We had a few adventures into Hanoi and booked some local sightseeing through the hotel which were highly enjoyable, concierge were knowledgable,we even ate at a few restaurants in town. All in all this is probably THE best hotel in Vietnam not too be missed if your thereabouts!!
We were very much looking forward to a break here over the Xmas period. We noted the glowing reviews, but sadly were very disappointed. We are Royal Ambassador travellers and on this particular trip (holiday) , we used mainly points. ( and club lounge) .Perhaps it is due to this that our room was far from the usual Intercon standard. The room was dark and dingy, the outside light was broken, the tv constantly went on and off, the ladies makeup mirror lights were broken, the soap dispenser didn’t work and the safe was broken. These things were fixed the next day, however you rarely find problems such as these in Intercontinental rooms! The club rooms are located a fair distance from the club lounge. You phone for a buggy and it is a 10-15 minute wait and 10 minutes to get there, often stopping to pick others up on the way. We witnessed 2 crashes and i was left in the buggy as it started to roll downhill. Several times the drivers couldn’t find our room. The club lounge service is terribly slow. Most times it took 25 mins to get a hot drink. We ordered one meal there, taking over half an hour..... there was nobody else in the lounge. You can order breakfast in the club, but again it takes ages and arrives cold. In the end we walked next door to the main buffet restaurant. The staff were all lovely, helpful and friendly, but lacked the “edge “ and experience required in a club lounge. We were never able to identify the club lounge manager which may be something to look at. The resort is located in a stunning spot, the staff all went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They run a free shuttle to Danang and Hoi An which is helpful. There are many things to in the resort.. eg, spa, lantern making , cooking classes and even a free movie theatre. Sadly , it rained the entire duration of our stay. We managed a couple of hours round the pool, and beach and the service there was faultless. As Royal ambassador members I hope you take on board some of this..... particularly regarding the club lounge. It seems to rate second to Citron. Not ideal!! I wish you all the best for the future.
