After having had an almost 8 hour flight to Ho Chi Minh from Melbourne and then a connecting flight from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang, a quick hour flight arriving at night time, I was very much looking forward to settling in to my accomodation, which is only 14 kilometres from Da Nang International Airport!. I have stayed at many Sheraton properties around the world and of course, my home country of Australia, but this was my first time to Vietnam and stayed at Sheraton Grand Da Nang, which is a very impressive looking property on the outside. On arrival, I was greeted by a very grand hotel lobby with flights of stairs on either side , Table 88 all day dining and the Tea Lounge, where you can enjoy high tea or simply a hot/cold beverage I was offered ginger tea and a warm towel by one of the many very friendly hotel employees!. Perfect way to kick off my stay!. My room was on the 4th floor, in Hotel 1. It had partial ocean views and views of an extremely long pool, the biggest of the pools there. There is also Hotel 2 and 3 on the same site but in different buildings. One of the biggest selling points of the hotel is that it is located right on the beach with life guards on duty and water sports equipment available for hire, if you simply aren’t content by lounging by the pools. The inside of my room was very inviting with a wall mounted flat screen high definition TV, 2 Double Beds, marble furnishings on the floors and desk, decorative wallpapers on the wall, a balcony, ottoman by the beds and a lengthy bathroom . Throughout my stay, I have noticed it is very quiet during the cooler season, and there a few perks to this. 1. You have more space and peace 2. Though it is supposed to be the cooler season, the reality is that during the day it is still very much pool or beach weather because of Vietnam’s (particularly the South’s) close proximity to the equator. As if the hotel couldn’t already score brownie points already with its location , luxurious decor, several pools on offer, spa and attentive , welcoming staff, it is also very family friendly with dedicated play areas with a ball pit, slide, drawing area and PlayStation to keep little ones busy!.I found it extremely difficult to fault the Sheraton Grand Da Nang, which helped shape my stay to be a memorable one!. I will definitely be back again!.
The Sheraton Grand Da Nang is a wonderful hotel with everything you need. The 250 meter infinity pool is the longest I've ever swam in, and the lay out of the hotel with the pool is beautiful! The food and service is great. We booked a room with king size bed and plunge pool. The pool was great for our 3-year-old when we - the grown ups - needed a break from the sun. The room was spacious, and we more than enough room for a family of three with all the luggage that comes with a 14-day trip ;). There was a playroom with ballpen which our daughter loved! On the beach they've made a small area with toys for the kids in the shade with access to water which made beach life all the more interesting for the little one. We tried all the restaurants, but the Grill, and they all have wonderful food - and is great value. Price level in Vietnam is generally low, and although this is a 5* hotel, we found that (in comparison with other countries, where the 5* hotels keep a 5* price level) it was all fairly cheap. A beer by the pool will set you back like $3. They also have a great kid's menu. Only downside to the hotel is the location. Set somewhat between Da Nang and Hoi An, you really need a taxi to go anywhere. Although only 10+ km from both places, the traffic is slow, so it'll take you around half an hour by car. It was between 38ish degrees when we were there, so too hot to walk long distances. There's not even a small kiosk at the hotel or nearby, so anything you need that the hotel don't provide should be bought in Hoi An or Da Nang. All in all a great first experience with Vietnam.
The Sheraton Grand Resort in Da Nang has only been around for 2 years or so. The place is sparkling new and the hotel staff is one of the nicest, caring and helpful hotel team that I have ever come across. As a BonVoy Platinum, I’ve had the chance to stay at many places and the treatment for loyal members varies by property. This place truly went above and beyond and we really felt welcomed. A few great parts of the hotel... 1. The pool and pool area are immaculate amazing. The pool is huge and it is super clean. The infinity part is really nice and it was never very crowded. (Partly because it is so big) 2. The beach is also so clean and the sand is as good as it gets. Similar to Turks and Caicos sand. 3. Breakfast is extensive with tons of options. Fruit is so fresh as well. As a Platinum, it was included which was a great perk. From the mgmt to the entire team, thanks for such a great stay. We would love to come back!!!
We booked SG for a 4 night RELAXING 5 days before touring Vietnam. There are lots of positives about this hotel but having stayed in many 5* hotels in the past the SG is not quite 5*. Notable 5* features include (1) the deluxe pool rooms. Very clean, spacious, well equiped with good air conditioning, large TV, standard amenities, amazing comfy bed, great ensuite and good sized balcony. (2) the pool, beach, sun loungers, beach towel service, food at Grill, La Place (though day 1 our taco cod was cod! The 4* features are as follows: Only one of my booking requests were met (2 rooms on the same floor) but SG could not accommodate check in at 12:30, quiet room or high floor. No mention of upgrade. Lagham (and other 5*) in London always offer an upgrade or apologies if they have none. Housekeeping is not consistent. On one of our days soap, bathrobes, tea, water was not replenished. To save time and money it would be great is we could electronicaĺly tick or scan items we need replacing. No turn down service which I like to replace used towels. Food is something to watch. Pool bar was terrible and in fact I requested a refund for our chicken burgers where the chicken was almost non existent. Experience made worse by the waiter saying there is chicken in the corn fritter rather than offering more chicken or replace the dish. Food is expensive and on the days we did not want 5* food we went to Coco bay centre (£2 taxi ride) for great very cheap Mexican and Japanese food There is no shop in the hotel that stocks holiday makers essentials (snacks, soft drinks, toiletries, sun cream, bug spray, hats, sunglasses etc) In my view what really let this hotel down was the noise level. Pool side is not an issue. You cannot hear the construction or kids in the pool but via the front door guests moving furniture, banging doors and talking in corridors completely disrupted my stay. Such a shame because the hotel, the room and it's location is relaxing. Would have been great if pocket doors adjacent to the ensuite could block the small corridor to the front door. Steve the general manager and all the staff were great especially in reception (who refunded our awful pool side burgers), La Plage and The Grill.
Great rooms and facilities. Ms. Hispanic from Concierge was especially helpful with booking tours and organising transport. Our kids had a great time! Food was great and priced perfectly. Will certainly be back!
This hotel is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! A 5 star resort located right on the beach with the largest swimming pool I have ever seen. The gym is well equipped, the rooms are spacious and the food is delicious especially the breakfast buffet which was included in room price. It is away from the city or downtown where all of the nightlife, shops, etc are...take a 15 minute GRAB cab ride for less than 10.00....be daring and do a GRAB bike for less than 5.00.
Everything perfect, nice space, but the reception not welcome me until I came to asked "Where the Bar?". Should be here! Highly recommend come to the Bar, nice Bartender. Perfect drinks and cocktail. Nothing was problem in the Mix Bar
This is one of the few hotels I’ve stayed at that looks exactly like the pictures. It is stunning. It was very quiet when we stayed and all the staff were helpful and friendly, and the service was excellent. Our room, a deluxe one bedroom suite with sea view was phenomenal. Gorgeous views, and the room was spacious enough to have multiple roll-away beds in the living room area if you needed it. The beach was absolutely secluded so you have the whole place to yourself. The downsides for me were that the pool is not cooled so on hot days, the pool in the afternoon is extremely warm - it almost felt like a hot tub. Given its size, I understand why they wouldn’t cool it, but it is definitely not very refreshing unless you are swimming in the morning. That was a big disappointment for us as the pool was a major draw. The other thing is that the hotel is pretty far from town - about a 15-20 minute grab ride into Danang. Finally, the prices are absolutely western prices - the buffet is $30/adult for breakfast. We knew all these things going into it, but something to consider when booking. We would probably look closer to town next time.
it was quiet, peaceful and plenty of pool chair to go around. I have been to several resort settings across Mexico, Hawaii and the CA coast, and this must be the best resort that I have stayed. No one needs to fight over the pool chair, and the pool is clean, big and useful. there is a kids pool also for family with small kids. all staff from the front, at the restaurant, kids area, and pool area was so nice. seriously, genuinely nice. they also have kids indoor play area. this was a hit with my kids. you could actually drop them off there and have some mom and dad time to rest. I also loved their gym which was always stocked with bottled water and cold towel. I did not enjoy the inner city of Danang all that much (hot, humid, dirty, smelly) but this resort was the best thing for me. I would go back to Danang just to stay at this resort. I hope this place doesn't get too popular by the time I go back.
Loving our stay at the Sheraton Grand Resort in Da Nang. Beautiful, clean resort. Amazing pool and a very attentive staff. Everyone is courteous and helpful. Thanh made sure we were comfortable and very well taken care of while at the pool. And we were at the pool everyday! He is so professional and attentive to all the guests. We missed him on his day off. He’s great! And he speaks English! Phong also stood out, very courteous and efficient and speaks English. We’ve had great food, the staff has been very helpful with their menu suggestions. Definitely 5 star service throughout the resort!
