Boutique Hotel t Klooster3.5 out of 5.0

We booked this boutique hotel for one night and were not disappointed. It is a monastery converted in a hotel and the old tiles are still in place in part of the room. Here and there this gives a dirty look but it is the antique look which in fact is charming. The staff if very friendly and the location is walking distance to town. The patio which is the heart of the hotel could need some aftercare after a rain shower. Other than that we may stay here again.
This small but luxurious hotel is so beautiful and bright. Don't be fooled by the name: yes, it's an old monastery, but very modern and bright coloured. The only thing that reminds you of the old Monestry days is the tranquility. The rooms are great and clean, the beds are very comfortable. The inside garden is so beautiful with palm trees, loung chairs to chill, meet people or read a book. And a pool with hammocks and lounge beds to relax, loved it! Breakfast is awesome, especially the magic omelettes by Astrid. Make sure to give her a big hug for every yummie omelette she makes you. Location: just perfect, because you are in the beautiful, colourful and buzzing Pietermaai District to enjoy everything going on there. But your bed at t Klooster is far enough from Pietermaai's noise, so you will sleep like a baby. Everybody who works here is so friendly and always there to help you with whatever you need. And good to know for all Digital Nomads: the internet works great and doing some work in the garden is the best. I could go on mentioning so many good thing. Just book and experience yourself. I will come back for sure!
The positive -- hotel was fairly close to downtown area and the staff were friendly and I appreciate borrowing the beach towels.. The negative -- the beds were "3 months old" is a blatant lie -- the beds were extremely soft and when I complained how much my back was hurting nothing was down about it -- btw - I am 6'0" tall and 180 pounds with no prior back issues. also, they need to clean the grout in the bathroom...unless you like a dirty non white dingy color.
This hotel was good to stay at. The best thing about it is the courtyard, where you can hang out and chill. There is a small pool, which is nice to cool down, but is a bit too small. If there is another couple, or maybe a family at the pool, it gets very crowded. It was mostly pretty clean, although there were some stains on the sheets, towels and the curtains. The breakfast was very basic and a bit too high priced, so we did not eat breakfast there. The staff at reception was very friendly, but the reception was only open a few hours a day. Which was not very convenient if you want to ask for information or expect a visitor or something. The kitchen staff was a bit passive agressive about us eating self made bread meals or take away at our room. Would probably stay somewhere else if we went back to Willemstad.
Our 3rd stay here and already looking forward to a 4th one! I'm a little bit hesitant in writing a glowing review because we don't want too many people to come here and spoil it all. But we have choice, the hotel and staff deserve it without a doubt. We are so grateful for the wonderful and relaxing stay we had. This time we had 'only' the comfort room but it was way better than many an upscale hotel room we book in general. The room was spacious for two, light, complete and clean. Our outdoor shower was a very pleasant plus. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. The small pool was perfect for a cool dip and our baby granddaughter had her very first swimming lesson right there. Beautiful and comfy garden seats under palm and banana trees. So quiet and restful. Last but not least, fast Wi-Fi too!
The hotel looked very promising and the location is very good, walking distance to town and some good restaurants, and it is very quiet. However, the rooms were dirty. I did see previous reviews with pictures of dirty rooms, they were right. The management of 't Klooster did not learn from these reviews. Our check in was confusing, took forever, they have to take an imprint of your credit card (the manual one from 20 years ago) and take a 100$ deposit on your credit card..... Maybe we steal the towels?? We were on Curacao for a work project, so we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel. The beds were comfortable, but the floors and the bathroom were very dirty. We did not want to walk barefoot on the floors. So upon check out we mentioned this to the receptionist and she told us that the week before they finally started to check the housekeepers and they probably did not check our room yet............... they have 19 rooms and cannot inspect all of them in a week? My reaction was ?????WHAT???? (it sounded like a joke to me) So if you stay at 't Klooster your rooms are not inspected on housekeeping....... maybe they are. Sad that the management of a hotel does not really care about this. Besides this, they have an average breakfast for US$17 p.p. The correct value for this would be US$10 p.p.
this is very quaint hotel which had been a monastery. The facility is clean, the rooms are big enough, their staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed for two nights before meeting up with a large group to scuba dive. The inner court has a small pool and dining area. You could make tea or coffee in your room. There are TVs in the rooms.
This is a lovely boutique hotel located very near to fine dining and budget restaurants, as well as to the bus stations, a bakery, Pharmacy, supermarket and Plasa Bieu. My boyfriend and I took the 2A bus from Hato airport which dropped us off directly in front of the hotel - SMOOTH START! Check in was super fast! We had a deluxe room which is fairly large with very high ceilings. We asked for a room away from the street so that we do not have cars, but didn’t get it. This wasn’t be a major issue as there was little traffic. Our room had just been cleaned so it smelled strongly of bleach which put me off. My boyfriend took a seat on the bed and sank right in - it was far too soft and because he has sciatica, this was a problem. We immediately went back to front desk and asked for a different bed or room, but the lady was unable to do anything, as the hotel was sold out. Consequently, My boyfriend slept on the couch for 3 nights. After a day trip, we returned to our room to find a brand new mattress - a bit late but a very welcome surprise! We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but instead ate at nearby hotels and cafes - no particular reason other than we wanted to try those places. The courtyard is gorgeous and super quiet. The pool sits right there - but we didn’t go in. We did receive a flyer for nearby hotels which had specials running every night, so this was very helpful. The Punda Bus Station is an 8 minute walk away. The Otrabanda Bus Station is 22 minutes away (Once the bridge is closed).
I've stayed here for 10 nights. The location is great - close to downtown, walking street, cafes and restaurants. I loved also the inner garden - very cosy :) the room was ordinary, but had everything you need. The breakfast was tasty, but expensive (like everything on the island). Separate THANK YOU to the reception staff - super friendly, attentive and helpful. You are great!
Located in a former convent in the Pietermaai- district (the entertainment district). Very tastefully transformed into a unique Boutique Hotel. Friendly staff, a fantastic and relaxing courtyard, a very nice restaurant (Name : Blessing) in the former chapel. Perfect example of modern preservation of monuments (UNESCO heritage). Really an excellent place to stay on Curacao with fair pricing; I'll be back !
