"We had to cancel our stay at De Vere Cotswold Water Park due to a genuine family emergency and provided two days’ notice. We weren’t asking for a refund — only the option to reschedule, even if it meant paying an additional fee. Unfortunately, the hotel refused outright and retained the full payment. I understand cancellation policies exist, but good hospitality should allow for some discretion and humanity, particularly in quieter periods like February. The complete lack of flexibility felt unnecessarily rigid and quite disappointing. Sadly, this experience has left us feeling that guest circumstances are not treated with much compassion, and on principle, we would not choose to stay here in the future on principal . "
