Rooms are very tired and outdate like from the late 1990's or early 2000's. The bed was uncomfortable and it seemed like they put a king mattress on a double-bed base. There was dust and stains all over the carpets, the walls had dents in them, the bathroom weren't cleaned well. There's no fridge in rooms. The 'laundered' bedsheets had hairs on them too. Cleaning lady walked in at 9am while I was sleeping. There's no 'do not disturb sign', just a 'no service needed today' sign. We wanted the room serviced however we also didn't want to be disturbed, so what are we expected to put? At 9am on a Saturday morning the cleaner decided to knock on the door for cleaning and then walk into the room. Not her fault as the signs as equally as useless for her but not pleasant when I'm still in bed. The Spa6 staff act friendly but are actually quite rude. Firstly which spa hotel makes their travellers pay extra to use the swimming facilities. It's absurd, if you don't book a spa treatment, you had to pay £10 to use the pool for an hour. The pool had around 5 people in there (per CCTV footage on their screen) yet when I asked why we can't go in they said they were at capacity in quite a rude manner. Not a very relaxing first encounter. There's no hot tub, it's just a few jets in the swimming pool. It's ridiculous, they really should be downgraded from a "4 star" hotel to a 2/3 star. It's basically equivalent to a Travelodge with a chargeable pool and bigger rooms.

To use the swimming pool you have to pay extra £10 each very unusual for De Vere hotel The breakfast bread is hard and the sweets like pain chocolate or pastry are not very fresh

Spa was very good and food, especially breakfast was fantastic. However, the room was dated and there were no lights in the main bit so when the curtains were closed the two bedside lamps didn’t offer much light so it was very very dark. No bedroom lamps on the desk or over the chair or over head lamps which was very strange. Also the bar area was a bit impersonal in the evening.

Mostly nice rooms if you get the right area of the hotel. Well equipped gym and the spa looked nice although I didn't use it. Food was expensive for the quality in the bar, but the hotel breakfast was very good.

Room was clean and just what we needed. Staff were helpful, however when attending for breakfast I was told ‘it’s closing’ rather than just offered a seat, when breakfast was due to be open for another hour. We then also had a small bite in the lounge area the next day, and the food took nearly 40mins. We used the spa facilities, and these are always great. The room was comfy and just as we would expect. It’s the second time we have stayed, and would go back again.

Couldn’t check in at 3pm - room delayed by hour which defeated objective of upgrade as couldn’t use balcony for sitting outside whilst still light The kettle was faulty and created burning smell in room Cold - used gas radiators that didn’t work Next door to Hen party & barking dog other side . Understand to help cleaners nice to have guests together but hotel was 1/2 empty so could have staggered more for noise abatement Tbf restaurant food was excellent

This is definitely a conference hotel and with over 400 rooms can get busy and noisy. Food average in the evening - Breakfast very good but you are left to your own devices to work out where everything is. Avoid rooms 102 & 104 which are directly outside the public bathrooms so all you can hear are the hand dryers at all times of the day. These rooms are also for physically disadvantaged - the bathrooms could do with more tlc.
