Red Roof Inn Columbus - Ohio State Fairgrounds

2.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Have stayed there a few different times during a two week period. Some rooms are way nicer than others. Cleaning staff mediocre.

Clean room. Comfortable bed. Nice new wood laminate flooring. Nice flat screen TV. Few amenities. Wobbly toilet. No chair in room. Outside of hotel dingy.

Motel was adequate, close to highway and cute, little village (Worthington).

They charged me double for the rooms and the attendant told me I did not know what I was talking about. He then sat in his chair and drank coffee while I was reviewing my online banking statement. He then told me that he has been doing this for 20 years and I was wrong. I had to wait until the next morning and a nice woman (Cheryl) was able to refund my money back on my card. I will Never stay at this hotel again. Oh and I picked the book now, pay later option and was informed that you can not pay cash at the hotel. It has to be debit or credit card. HORRIBLE!!!

Room was updated and nice at first glance however there was an unusual amount of dust on all of the counter tops and desk (like someone had not been in the room for months or something was being sanded. Also the water pressure in the shower was extemely poor. The water temperature in the shower was luke warm even after letting it run for ten minutes on full hot. I expressed our disappointment at check but got no reaction from the counter person.

The motel was dirty, the AC did not work and when I asked to fix it nothing was done. Poor, run down location. The only favorable aspect is that a renovation has started. But noisy and construction mess all over. This motel should be taken off your list or options. The front office lady was nice.

This place a very, very poorly MAINTAINED. No heat water. Wallpaper peeling in hallway. The carpet in the room and bedspread NASTY !!

This place should have got through a renovation 10 years ago. Rooms are fine enough for the price - but the hallway carpets look like the ones from The Shining... after the elevator scene. i.e. Not good. The whole area around the hotel is under some form of construction, though it didn't look like anything had been worked on in ages. Also note that the photo in the profile is NOT the location... or even close to the look of it.

awful stay Room smelt nasty along with bed spread. Sheets and blankets smelt musty. Room smelt musty n old also. I wouldnt recommend this room to anybody. May have just been our room but i was not pleased woth the out come of the two night stay

Hotel is near many restaurants close to major access roads. Room was clean and comfortable. Good value even though no breakfast was provided.

Very friendly staff, would stay again!! The bed was very comfortable, although is was a little small but other than that everything was clean, would recommend to friends and family ! )

The beds did smell like urine, the whole room was filthy and did reek. the carpet was filthy and also the Microwave. In the bathroom shower was a used soap and their litter still there. It has not been cleaned at all. The AC was broken and blew out hot air at times. We didn't stay there and got back to our car and drove away and we will never go back to this Hotel

Disgusting is the best way to describe it. Dirty everything. This is a $50/night motel.

The hotel wasn't anything special, but it was accommodating enough. If I had any wishes, it would be for more parking places. I had a little difficulty when returning from business dinner both nights finding a parking place close to the door. For the price, it was fine though. The only deceiving part is, this is not really close to the fairgrounds, it is miles away on Interstate 71. I'm not sure why it says fairgrounds because it's not all that close.

This hotel by far was the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. Linens had stains (including the towels and wash clothes), torn wall paper, vomit in the parking lot. It was all a mess.

Decent hotel for the price. Close to a lot of restaurants and not too far from downtown Columbus.

It was comfy and affordable and clean I felt safe and im coming back

There was nothing wrong with this hotel, but there wasn't anything worth noting as special. Tube TV, so-so beds, flickering lights, stained bathtub. Water Pressure was good, which doesnt always happen at a Red Roof Inn type of Hotel. I happen to categorize the Red Roof Inn as more of a 2-star hotel like Super 8 or Motel 6, rather than a 3-star Hotel, like a Holiday Inn or Radisson. I feel robbed of the $70/night I paid to stay in this hotel.

My son and I were in Columbus for a weekend. This hotel is not in a good location ( a bit frightening to be exact!) Not far from OSU which is where we were attending a couple of events and a great price, it sounded like a great place to stay. Not so much! The room smelled horrible and the air conditioner blew out warm air even when set on high cool. The front desk staff was nice and the room was clean (despite the stench...) All in all, I don't think this will be a place that we will stay again.

Needs updated, free breakfast very limited, wifi shaky at best, a lot of the little things could be better, but the price was right.
