The Hotel meet all our expectations, and Clare exceeded in her help with our many questions. The room was very comfortable and the Breakfast very good with a wide choice. The location of the hotel is well located.
Stayed here for 5 nights recently on business. The hotel is very conveniently located to the centre of town. On arrival I was greeted by a great host who spoke very good English and helped me out with Taxi's, directions and even restaurant reservations. Well stocked bar helps when you've been on the go all day. Very relaxed bar and restaurant atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. Not planned, but just happened to be in town when the Tour De France came through so the hotel was a real buzz. Courtyard in front of the hotel is very French and in keeping with the Alsace region. Lots of old farm machinery dotted around adding to the ambience. Breakfast is continental and simple. Ample parking in the underground car park as well as a few spaces above ground. All in all a great location, very friendly hotel staff and well worth a stay if you're in town.
This hotel was a nice surprise. Good and nice hotel - a bit looking like family-owned hotel but belongs to Ibis chain. Good location close to sigjtseeing places. Also excellent car parking opposite the hotel (10€:night). Receptionists spoke good english. Breakfast was simple but good. Price/quality is excellent.
IBIS hotels are usually faceless modern concrete blocks but this was is built in an old malt house so the rooms are not all the same size or accessibility, & it is spread over two buildings. Our room was small so if we had been travelling with large bags it would have been a challenge. The bathroom was small but had everything we needed, the bed comfortable and the view interesting....an old, rather scruffy, medieval courtyard. There is no restaurant but there are coffee & tea making facilities in reception, a bar & you are very close to some great restaurants in the old part of Colmar. The staff are friendly & helpful. Parking is limited & in what appears to be an old cellar.... if you have a large car then good luck as it is very tight! Outside there is a small place to sit in the garden with a beer but beware if your rooms are above it as this is also the smoking area & you may not want to open your window! Breakfast was good, better than expected, but in a small area so expect it to be busy at peak times.
This Ibis is in an old Malt factory. Be warned that if you avail yourself of their parking, the spaces are small and difficult to get into. You better have a small car. They do have a few outdoor spaces for larger cars. That said, our room was on the top floor under the roof. Wonderful large beams everywhere even in our room and one was right by the head of the bed. I only bumped my head once. The bathroom was large and spotless. Here again, because of the mansard roof, there was some head bumping as the ceiling was sharply angled over the bathtub. In fact you had to sit in the tub. You couldn’t shower standing up. Small price to pay to stay in a place filled with history. Breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices of breads, pastries, yoghurt and fruit.
We stayed here two nights during spring break. Great location that allowed us to walk everywhere in the center of town. We were able to reserve a parking space which worked out very well as we explored the Route des Vin d'Alsace for part of our stay and it was very convenient to be able to leave and come back to an assigned space. Our room was directly off the entrance courtyard in a separate building across from the reception area. It was clean and roomy and the wifi worked well. Fantastic fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast although there were not any hot items such as eggs or sausages. Overall, a very nice stay in a great location.
If you are booking at a time of high occupancy, you may need to be careful exactly which room, or type of room you get. The hotel is distributed over 2 buildings, which are probably very old, and subject to preservation orders which prevent structural alterations which a hotel might ideally need. If you are travelling as a young couple for a romantic getaway, and you don't have a lot of luggage, you probably wont have a problem with any of the rooms. If you are elderly or infirm, or you have a lot of luggage, you will want to avoid a high floor room in the 2nd building (the one on the right as you go in), because it does NOT have an elevator ! On the Accor website, all the rooms are advertised as having a business desk. However, in some rooms (including 302), the desk has been shoved into a corner niche between a wardrobe and the wall, and the desk space is not usable as a result. You would also have difficulty watching the TV, because that is on the desk and stuffed into the corner., where it is almost out of sight. They did, in fact, find me an acceptable room, although it took 3 attempts. If the hotel had been fully booked, there could have been a problem. The hotel has only French TV channels. They said that they plan on getting some foreign channels, because foreign guests are complaining. All I can say is that it is taking them a long time, because Accor has had this hotel for at least 3 years. Parking costs €8 per day. It is advisable to request a parking space at the time of booking. If you get a ground floor room in the 2nd building, you may be able to park right outside your room. The windows on these ground floor rooms have one-way glass, so can leave your curtains open during the day without other guests peering in. The hotel does not have a full service restaurant, but from memory I think they have a snack menu. However, there are plenty of restaurants nearby on the old quarter. Breakfast is actually included in the room rate, which was something I failed to notice when I booked. If I had noticed this, I would have asked for an ex-breakfast rate, because I frquently skip breakfast because of the hours I keep. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are well maintained.
We stayed in a family room for one night when visiting Colmar. This was a great option for us as it could accommodate our party of 2 adults and 2 children comfortably. The room was spacious and bi-level in a converted old historic building. We found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast, included in the price of the room, was excellent with fresh breads, meats, cheeses, fruit salad, cereals, eggs and fresh squeezed orange juice. The hotel is very well located, near to the old town. There were a few aspects of the room that could have been a little better: maybe a little bit cleaner on arrival and the drain in the bathtub was very slow. Otherwise, we were very happy with our choice and would certainly recommend this hotel as outstanding value for accommodation in gorgeous Colmar.
First time to visiting Colmar, and I was so amused by the cuteness of the town. The same for the hotel, indeed. All the hotel staff members were very kind and caring. Had a nice view from the guest room window, a comfortable bed, a nice breakfast with fresh orange juice and good beers at the bar. The hotel location is just a few minutes away from Colmar city centre and it is so convenient. To get to Colmar station is also just an easy 10min walk. This hotel says that it’s IBIS-Style, but I would like to say that everything here was at Novotel standard. Stayed here for 2nights and it was absolutely comfortable. Totally recommended.
Very warm welcome by friendly, fluent English and French speaking staff. Our 2 rooms were spacious and comfortable. The shower in one of the rooms was tiny and water ran onto the floor but this was the only negative. Location is perfect for the Christmas markets. 5 minutes walk. Very generous help-yourself coffee/tea and snack bar. Loved the cookies and croissants. Breakfast buffet plentiful and yummy. Kids loved the make yourself fresh orange juice and boil your own egg machine. As we had a large vehicle, we were offered a car park just outside the hotel for 8 euro per night. We loved our stay here!
