This hotel is terrific. Ok, it's about a 15 min walk from the station, but it's all flat. Once there, you're in the heart of everything. Right in the middle of Little Venice. Our room was very traditional, pretty huge with a jetstream bath plus a separate shower. The bed was a four poster (VERY comfy) and the windows (corner room) overlooked the front entrance on one side and the car park on another. The stairways to the room from reception are a bit of a strain, but the staff will gladly take your luggage for you. This is one of those hotels where the room is ready quite late. We opted to have dinner at the hotel restaurant, as I had had it recommended. It was superb. Not cheap, so I wouldn't eat there every night, but you should once. Consequently, we didn't bother with breakfast here. There's plenty of patisserie/boulangeries about that you can get stuff for breakfast.
The hotel is perfectly situated in Little Venice, giving easy access to the central area of Colmar. It's chocolate-box pretty. Our room was spacious and elegant, with two windows (overlooking the car park rather than the canal, but still....), side table and chairs, and a king size, very comfortable bed. We were very impressed with the room, and with housekeeping, which was immaculate. The bathroom was modern and stylish. There was a jacuzzi bath, but only a hand-held shower attachment, with no separate shower. This meant clambering in and out of a high-sided bath to shower - not so easy for the more mature guest! We opted to include the (rather pricey) breakfast, and enjoyed sitting overlooking the canal. Breakfast was generally good, with excellent bread and fruit juice in particular, but needed to be replenished more often, as cheese and cold meats were depleted quite rapidly. Staff were helpful and welcoming, and overall we had a very enjoyable stay.
We have had a lovely experience here at Le Marchal. We stayed in the annex and it was extremely comfortable and updated in decor. The bathroom is very modern and spacious. Bed was comfortable and plenty of room to spread out. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. I would recommend this hotel, but I can only write about the room we stayed in. This would be great for a family as there is another bedroom adjacent to ours with twin beds.
We absolutely loved this charming old-world hotel! The hotel is very well located. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Our room was "cozy" but had all the amenities we required; it was clean & comfortable. We opted for the pricy breakfast buffet & wished we hadn't. The breakfast wasn't bad but we arrived a little later than the early risers & there wasn't much left to eat. The hostess was very friendly but needed help, as did the kitchen staff, because they couldn't keep up with the guests. Some eggs arrived just before we left so we did get to eat something. My advice is to go out & have a less expensive breakfast in one of the many cafe's.
Friendly and helpful staff. A comfortable and memorable stopover which we would recommend to others. We opted for the étape gourmande package which included a very tasty 4 course meal and good choice for breakfast.
we arrived early 2pm was told to come back at 3pm and we did and even though they had moved our bags to the room it still was not ready , so why did they not see the room was dirty when they brought our bags up and we ended up 4pm getting into the room. Not a big fan. You have to leave the bathroom to change your mind forget about getting dressed in the bathroom and the bedroom is the smallest we have had on the trip
The service was nice at this hotel. The restaurant looked good, but we chose to eat in town. The room was nice. We were able to find street parking, luckily, but a parking lot is offered for 17Euros. Would recommend.
Nice hotel, charming, traditional decor. Great breakfast on restaurant’s balcony overlooking the canal. Just great. Amazing location! Cleanliness of the room second to none with nice room amenities. Would recommend it to anyone.
I recently had the opportunity to stay at Hostellerie le Marechal during my trip to France. My room was perfect with a view of the canal and large by European standards even though it was a single. The decor is most charming, the breakfastbuffet was amazing and staff most accommodating. I highly recommend a stay at Hostellerie le Marechal.
We had traveled over thirty hours from overseas . We were welcomed as if we were family and even as exhausted as we were the charm of this hotel, the town and the wonderful people would not let us sleep. You cannot go wrong here my friends. We also had one of the most romantic dinners overlooking the canal on our last night. Our best wishes to the staff and the beautiful town of Colmar.
