Had a great time at san bernardo hotel. Stayed with my family for the weekend. The room was large and very clean and well decorated. The bed linens felt luxurious and delicious with dawn duvets and pillows. The first night we heard a noise in our room some kind of motor turning on and off, we told management staff and the quickly resolved it. I will make sure to stay there on my next visit to Tapalpa.
....words cannot even share the beauty of this special hotel! It's simply AMAZING :-)!!! My husband said it best...it's like out of a movie :-)!!! The Staff is Incredible! The Hotel itself had so many details that you can really appreciate! To us, given Tapalpa is a small mountain town, this was like the Four Seasons in the mountains but so much more quaint and small :-)!!! The Staff is incredible. They cater to your every need...we said they were like magic...they appeared everywhere and helped with anything you needed. We met the Owners when we left and they were some of the kindest people we had ever met who took so much pride in this hotel. They are owners that you love to support and stay in their pride and joy as again, they have detail in everything :-)!!! Security was phenomenal, Grounds were so well kept...again, simply amazing and if you want to get-a-way, have peace and silence and relax to the sounds of wind, birds and more...this is your place to go. Spa: We have been to many and we had a spa service at 8pm at night - it was one in a million from the hydrotherapy pool and relaxation at it's finest :-)!!! We couldn't believe a Spa existed like this. Susana, the front desk manager was ONE in a MILLION and she will do anything you need, help in anyway and she truly is a treat to see every day. Our kids adored her. They even allowed her to do babysitting services for our children while we were at the Spa. Anything you ask for, they find a way to provide it seemed. Gorge in Security would wait for us upon arrival, help us unload our bags and kids and more. ...they even waited until we got home in the evening to close the gates and would check on us. We have never had a hotel do this and all of Mexico! The service was just so special and we will return!!! ...and we recommend this hotel so highly!!! You will not disappoint and we hope you get to Experience what we did :-)!!! ...magic in the mountains of Talpalpa :-)!!! <3 ~Chris, Pam, Viva & Paz
I did not stay at Hotel San Bernardo. It was a mistake. It is well worth the 15 min drive from downtown if only for... Their spa: Amazing package for 2 people - for a little over 100 dollars for both you each get a 1 hour massage and the most amazing and relaxing hot tub (overlooking their grounds in a beautiful building) as well as jacuzzi and steam room. Plush bathrobes are provided as is a nice lemon tea with honey. Yum Their lunch menu: Had a lovely bottle of red wine in their restaurant and a 3-course menu (appetizer, soup/salad and dessert) for way less than a similar hotel would be in the USA. They raise their own duck so I highly recommend the duck based dishes, especially the duck pastor tacos. Between spa and lunch we strolled the beautiful grounds including duck pond, bocce courts and croquet overlooking their little lake. It was perfect. susana, the general manager, is amazing. REach out to her if you need any information beforehand. I'll certainly be staying at San Bernardo going forward!
This hotel is only exceptional if you go under the idea of disconnecting from everything and actually have a very relaxing getaway! They have a fantastic spa that only from the view of the relaxation pool was enough for the thumbs up! The host and the service was very friendly. They even offer to take you to town (Tapalpa) if you require which is less than a 10min drive from the hotel. They have a duck farm and they encourage you to try in their restaurant. It is quite good but the other things available are quite good too.
This hotel showed a very low price at all the booking sites used by Trip advisor and Google. We booked a weekend a month in advance, only to receive an email later that the room will cost 8x more. Granted, we had already made the payment and could have made the hotel honor the reservation, but... Do you really need this hassle when celebrating your anniversary? Run the risk of having no room during peak season? Not for me.
We were hosted for a business off site mid week at this incredible location! Our hosts facilitated the 20 of us perfectly! Our host Juan Pedro supported our business and team activities perfectly. We were treated like family. This is a place I will come back to with my wife to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside and spa! I would recommend this place for future business off sites meetings too. Thank you!
Absolute beautiful setting with the best staff!! Runs in the morning with the owner around the lake sealed the deal. Very accommodating and room overlooking the lake was outstanding. Looking to return with my wife for a long quite weekend in the very near future. The drive from Guadalajara airport it about 2+ hours. If you want peace and quite this is the place to come!!
I'm an a interior designer and I really want to congratulate for every single detail that make the stay so comfortable! The staff is really nice and very kind. The restaurant delicious (especially the chocolate explosion cake dessert!), but the most incredible is the view, that's awesome!! Really really recommendable! My new fav place for a short relaxing vacation! Congrats from Italy!
This is a beautiful property with an attentive staff and delicious restaurant. The buildings are tastefully decorated with quaint courtyards. Rooms are spacious with comfortable furnishing. It does get cold at night (we were here in December) but the rooms have fireplaces and heaters. The heater/air con unit has a very bright display but you can turn off the display - make sure to do so! We loved this location outside of town where you have gorgeous views from the restaurant. It also has a spacious lawn and fun little property to explore, including a duck pond. So peaceful. Really close to the piedrotas (less than 5 minute drive). There is also a small game room with a pool table and couches to relax in. We would come back.
Nice view pretty calm place to spend a weekend with no rush in the middle of the woods. Restaurant in the property with limited menu but the food taste good. It is not a place to go with kids due to limited activity to them. There is a small chapel in the property well maintained.
