Was here for a very short period of time (12 hours). Really enjoyed the hotel as it is very nice with high end finishes. Bed was very comfy and room very large (2 queen beds, hide a bed sitting area). Bathroom had a great rain shower head and ability to dim the lights. Though my room faced the highway and main intersection, it was still decently quiet. Pool is smaller at the hotel, but the hot tub was very hot and extremely deep. It's nice to sit in a tub that the water is up to your chin or stand and it's to your chest. Liked that a lot. Jets were not that powerful, but tub still worked wonders. Would stay here again given how nice it was and how close to the airport it was to drive the next day
Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Room was clean & quiet. Beds were comfortable with great comforters. Bathrooms were beautifully appointed. Shared a room that came with two beds & a sitting area. They have a small gym with 3 cario machines & some weights that is open 24 hours. Small pool & hot tub. Close to lots of restaurants & shopping.
All 4 pillows on the king sized bed are way too thick and very firm. They look comfortable, but that is a lie. After half hour of trying to sleep I already had pain in my neck and back. I ended up sleeping on folded towels; which seems like a waste of towels. It seems all sandman properties have made the switch to these pillows of misery. I will be avoiding Sandman’s in the future.
I forgot my glasses in a paper bag on the counter in the room after early checkout (5am). Called before 10am right when my flight landed to ask front desk to put them aside. Instead of putting them aside the front desk staff apparently check with house keeping at end of day and determined nothing was left in the room. They didn’t even call me back. I had to continue to call and ask for staff /management to check but I knew it was too late. Housekeeping surely thought the bag was trash and disposed of my glasses. After weeks of returning messages from different managers a brand new manager finally determined today nothing was left in the room (I’m a liar) and that I could receive an upgrade next time I stay (if one is available). Zero stars for your service and courtesy and 1 star because the hotel is clean (good work housekeeping). $220 to replace glasses because someone at front desk was seemingly too lazy to accommodate my simple request. Will try my best to avoid this airport hotel in future mainly because of how management treated the situation.
Three night stay at the Sandman Airport hotel. My wife and I frequently stay at hotels that cater to dogs, and we had our two labs with us. The hotel looks brand new, both inside and out. Access to the parking lot is limited to a single entrance/exit, but is right next to the main Canadien freeway. Check in went well, and we were given room 110, right behind the front desk, and next to the manager’s office. While I initially thought it was petty to keep our dogs under a watchful eye, we found that it was also the room closest to the main exit so it made taking the dogs out much easier. The room was great...bed was comfortable, large flat-screen tv, walk in shower was unique and awesome. Even though the hotel sits in the middle of three major roadways, our first floor room was relatively quiet...in fact the only noise that bothered us were some kids in the hallway at 1 am. The front desk was very helpful, and complimented our dogs twice (bonus points). Some minor negatives...there is a speaker directly outside room 110 playing music 24/7. While it didn’t bother us with the door closed, it was blaring when we had to take the dogs out at 4am. The fridge is too small...it works, but don’t plan on keeping much in it. Finally (and this is weird) I’ve never been to a hotel with a 3/4 mirror BEHIND the toilet. Let’s just say it adds a new perspective for a guy urinating. We plan on returning to the area in the future, I will be using this hotel again.
Return visit to the hotel, of course the view is stellar, freeway traffic doesn’t sleep. Over the years, the rooms are beginning to show wear and tear, buildup of bathroom grime, wallpaper starting to curl, the towels in our room were very “sadsack” low budget and terribly worn! That surprised us! We arrived for checkin around four pm and many of the rooms were still being cleaned by cleaning staff, one of which, a young man, rode in the elevator with us, and he was unbearably smelly from body odor. Now I don’t know why fellow staff members or management wouldn’t speak to him about this. Overall, this is our most fave of hotels to stay at, and hopefully quality control kicks in and standards are kept high.
Nice clean modern hotel. Close to the airport and right off the highway. Quiet rooms and no road noise. Restaurants close by too. All in all a good nights rest in a convieniently located hotel. Coffee in the lobby an excellent bonus that more places should do.
Very conveniently located just next to the highway from Vancouver and about 10 mins from Abbotsford International airport. Shopping within 10 mins walking distance to the Highstreet shops. Good mix offood, clothes, gadgets shops & Walmart.
Business at the airport has me in the area a couple times a year for a few days each time and this hotel is my fav. It’s newer and well appointed with comfortable beds. Mix of regular rooms and small suites. Last time I was there for a week, without asking, they gave me a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. Several restaurants and a micro brewery within walking distance, and a Denny’s in the hotel for breakfast. The only downside is it’s location sandwiched beside the freeway and two other very busy streets and intersections. Access from the North (freeway side) requires you to go two blocks south to a roundabout where you can turn around and drive back to gain access from the northbound lane. Soundproofing is pretty good, but a light sleeper will hear the trucks, sirens and horns. Have stayed here about 15 nights on 4 or 5 occasions. It remains my first choice when staying in the area and I will definitely be back.
We arrived later in the evening without a reservation. Phoned a few minutes ahead to see if a room was available. Registration staff were phenomenal. Cheylene (sp) on the night desk was so accommodating...had an unexpected room upgrade. She ensured our classic car was safely parked. Cameron on the morning desk was so helpful, giving us great directions for us to get to our next destination.
