Everything was great except, that the room door needs to be more secure. It only has regular door nob with lock and the door has a gap when it's closed, which is easily opened by a phone card. The door needs to have a bolt lock. I didn't feel safe to leave my laptop inside the room while I am away.

A good basic hotel.

The hotel itself was fine but the trucks etc beside the hotel delivering, for example, water were very noisy.

Great hotel for one night - good value

Excellent stay for one night. Quick efficient check in. Spacious and clean room. Good WiFi. Shower could do with improving - it was a little difficult to set the correct water temperature.

clean, comfortable, far from ADO station

We stopped in Chetumal twice as a transitional location between Mexico and Belize, both times at Hotel Real Azteca. The first night we arrived, there was a large cockroach on its back right outside our door. That should've been a bad sign for more to come, but it wasn't. We stayed in the same room on both visits, and both times the room was in great condition, clean and comfortable. The bed is extremely big, you can probably fit 4 people on it. The shower pressure was wonderfully strong with good hot water, which is hard to find in budget hotels throughout Mexico. Staff was always helpful and friendly. FYI, the hotel is a 40-minute walk from ADO bus station which isn't bad except it was pretty hot and humid in Chetumal when we were there.

Good Hotel for travelling through

Hotel was clean and had all ameneities needed. Our breakfast was supposed to be included but they did not have anything available until 7:30am which was too late for our schedule.

Amazing customer service

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Real Azteca last night and had a very great experience. There was a mix up with our reservation when we got to the hotel but the staff helped us sort it out immediately. The owner came down to help and made sure everything worked out. Overall we had a great experience and the room was clean and super comfortable. We will absolutely stay again!!

nice room, staff & city

The owner, son & staff were very helpful. It was a great experince to be imersed in the local culture. Few english speaking tourists are in the area. The Mayan musuem was just across the steet as well as a huge market. The walk down Ave. de Heroes to the water was pleasent. A bus ride to the nearby fishing village of Calderita was fun. A collectivo taxi to the beautiful Laguana Bacalara and town was a good day trip. Next time I stay here I will go to the Mayan ruin just north of Caldarita. I was lucky and received a renovated room. New AC, tiled shower, bathroon, flat screen, WiFi OK, really strong around lobby. I stayed here four nights. I should have stayed a fifth.
