We just loved the hotel and everything about it. Perfectly situated although getting into the car park was an interesting experience! We are going to book again with our family for two nights in December. Thank you for making our stay so welcome.

Had a voucher for DINNER AT THE GROSVENOR,made a booking but had to change the time at short notice, Not a problem, turned up at appointed time greeted at the brasserrie check in,drinks from the bar while looking at menu, sorry barman didn't get your name but I like your style, two menus on offer the full alacarte or a set menu 3 course, that includes a glass of BRUT CHAMPAGNE,priced at £35 per person, one of the main courses change At 18:00 hours from pork to ribeye steak,we opted for this,we were shown to our table, the room is beautifully decorated, nothing is to much trouble the steaks were cooked to absolute perfection as one would expect, all the courses Were delightful,OK drinks aren't cheap but were high quality,we thought taking all into account we think the set course menu was well worth the money go on treat someone you love

Lovely hotel, food very nice, great staff . Overall the place is brilliant great room good selection alcohol will be going back as soon as I can save up the money. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff

Excellent service and spotless. What more can you ask for. Will be back. Situated in the middle of Chester, you can walk to most of the interesting parts of the city while leaving the car in the reasonably priced car park.

Stayed with friends on a Saturday night. The location is fantastic, lobby and brasserie are definitely luxe but the rest of the hotel is very traditional (i.e. dated). We were in deluxe rooms - our decor was very old-fashioned and slightly scuffed. For the price we paid (£350 per room) I was expecting perfection. Spa is tiny (can only really accommodate 6 at a time and has no changing facilities which means walking through the hotel in a bathrobe). Recommended only if you can get a deal - definitely not worth the premium at full price. Came away disappointed.

We only live half an hour from Chester, which consequently we know well and equally have no need to stay overnight. However we have always fancied trying the Chester Grosvenor and so booked afternoon tea and an overnight stay for our wedding anniversary. We are lucky enough to stay at a number of 5 star hotels around the world so were keen to see if this one on our doorstep could live up to our other experiences. Since we wanted access to our car we parked, as usual in the Grosvenor Multi-storey, and used this entrance to the hotel. Our initial impression and check in was 5 star and the staff friendly and efficient. We had booked an executive room and it was from this point it started to disappoint, the positives were the bed was very large with plenty of comfortable pillows although the mattress was hard. The view out of the window was just of the hotel’s rooftops etc but after all we were in a city so that couldn’t be helped. The TV was small and just placed on a table and nowadays one would expect better from a Premier Inn, so down to 4 star. However the star rating dropped even further in the bathroom, the fixture and fittings felt more economy than deluxe and there is certainly nothing 5 star about a shower over the bath and a plastic curtain, 3 star at best. We had booked bed and breakfast but again disappointing to find we had to pay an extra £10 per person for a full English breakfast. Like all the food we tried it was good but not exceptional. I can understand that overseas visitors would love its location right in the center of Chester and the appearance of the building from the outside but it has a long way to go before it can call itself 5 star

My husband and I escape to the Chester Grosvenor occasionally for a weekend treat; anniversary, special birthday or as in May, delayed Christmas present. Right in the heart of the beautiful city of Chester, no driving is required once you're there and we can walk the city walls, shop and eat and drink in local bars and cafes. Always of a consistently high standard, we noticed a new level of service this time: the rooms had been recently decorated in a contemporary style, the service was superb but more relaxed and friendly and there was definitely a more inclusive and less 'stiff' atmosphere. The food in the Bistro was definitely more interesting than previously. I understand there has been a new manager in the last couple of years who has maybe 'polished the pearl'!

Excellent friendly first class service, very comfortable and clean hotel, good breakfast with plenty of choice. Good location for shopping and sightseeing Chester offers something for everyone of all ages.

We booked a 2 night break on late bookings in March for 2 nights for my partners birthday in June. This time including dinner in Simon Radleys restaurant. Once again a first class break. The staff are superb here and always give a first class service in looking after guests. The meal in the Radley restaurant was lovely. Quality has to be paid for of course. but I will make one observation. When insisting smart attire is worn to see one or two gents turning up to the restaurant in scruffy jeans is disappointing.... Apart from that minor gripe CANNOT FAULT this hotel. Hope to return for a third time next year. .

This hotel was one of many stops in 6 weeks travelling the UK and Ireland. A magnificent old hotel in the heart of Chester. Reasonably priced valet parking. Rooms spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed. Very good service throughout although they forgot my wife's breakfast order and then it arrived cold. Otherwise met our expectations for a 5 star stay.
