My husband booked this hotel for my birthday, a rare child free night away. The journey to the grovesner should have taken 1.5hours, but due to the snow closing the m62 and various other routes, it took us 6hours. The second we pulled up in the car, right outside the doors, the charming gents who greeted us couldn't have been more helpful and polite, and genuine. They took our luggage from the boot and into the hotel, another chap took our car to the car park and we were led inside to check in. The lady checking us in was also lovely, we had been given a complimentary upgrade for the night which was nice. She showed us to our room, which was beautiful and with a good quality TV set up, a massive bed with loads of pillows, a fully stocked mini bar (with a price that reflects the hotel rating and the quality service) The bathroom was lovely, finished to a high standard and very clean. We had hoped to spend most of our day enjoying the hotel and spa facilities but unfortunately due to the trouble with the journey we were in bed for 9.30 shattered, we had a cocktail from the la brasserie, we were really looking forward to a good old fashioned woo woo or a sex on the beach but unfortunately for us the cocktail list was a bit more sophisticated, and expensive at £10 each 😅 We had a good night's sleep and went to breakfast around 9.30, continental breakfast was included but to upgrade to a full breakfast it was about £10.50 I think, I would have loved a full English but I've got kids at home to feed 😅 The service was brilliant again, the waiters and waitresses couldn't do enough for you. All in all a fantastic stay, just a shame it was cut short, we loved the location of the hotel too so would love to visit again.

We attended my nieces wedding here last weekend which was actually in the hotel as a civil service & all went smoothly. The meal afterwards was good quality food but the function room was freezing cold & very uncomfortable myself & other people complained & asked that the aircon be turned off or at least put on warmer as we were cold but we were informed this was due to the cold conditions outside! To be honest it was warmer in the cathedral where we attended for photos & canapés. Note to Grosvenor management: if the brides father asks for heating to be sorted when they were paying a large sum of monies & staying in the suite at £££££ per night this should be sorted! I was considering having Grosvenor for a family function as my daughter is at uni in Chester but this totally put us off - nice building, staff waiting on worked hard but customers should not be cold!! I am glad we stayed in another hotel which was lovely & warm when we got back Not acceptable Grosvenor 😡

Excellence at its’s the little touches that make The Grosvenor my preferred hotel, from the warm welcome to the most comfortable bed, the attention to detail and the simple things such as the shower at just the right temperature, the huge bed and the perfect ambience...

We visited this hotel today for afternoon tea, having received a gift voucher from a good friend. The hotel really is top notch, superb decor, and faultless service. We were served in the Arckle lounge, which was comfortable and luxurious, warm, and relaxing. After we were seated, we were offered the choice of teas or freshly brewed coffee. Then, we were served with a delightful selection of sandwiches, cakes, and warm scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. The service was excellent, welcoming, courteous, and attentive. Some may call it a trifle pricey, but here you definitely get what you pay for... If you do it only once, it’s worth every penny for the experience... Put it on your bucket list....

Booked the room for one night. Hadn't stayed here before so had great expectations. The check-in process was a bit drawn out. It was a sit-down process that I found unnecessary. Some may like that though. We were shown personally to the room by the receptionist. The room was a decent size and nice décor (if a little dark). There was no view but they are few and far between here due to the layout of the building. The room has all the amenities you could want although the kettle did not work. We ate in the restaurant which was very good. The reason why I have not given a better score is because breakfast was a let down. We were shown to our seats and then left for ages before being asked our order. Shortly afterwards another couple sat next to us and they experienced the same slow service but were getting so worked up about it that it was causing tension. When our breakfasts finally arrived (with one key item missing from mine), the couple next to us had realised that if they didn't grab the staff now, they'd never get their attention, so ambushed our server, took his attention away from us so we could not mention the missing item or ask for extras of anything. They were right though because the servers were just non-existent. Not good.

Great location right next to the City walls and in the center of the city. The room was amazing - the beds were so comfortable and all the facilities were high quality. The spa treatment was very nice and the thermal suite lovely, The spa area was a little smaller than expected. The breakfast was high quality and a lovely treat. A great time was had.

We did the Sunday night deal with dinner in the brasserie. We were too early for the room so we went away and came back at the appointed time and the room still wasn't ready. We sat around for a bit in the foyer, which is quite gloomy in spite of the spectacular chandelier above. I was a bit disappointed with the Superior room if I'm honest; it was clean but the furnishings were slightly tired and It could do with a new shower arrangement. I don't like to be too critical, really I don't, but I'm not happy with less than pristine shower curtains. The mini bar prices were exquisitely eye-watering so take your own crisps and champers. Dinner was fine, the timings between courses was possibly too long for some but good for us as we like a bit of a gap. The continental breakfast was a bit dull and really should be presented as a buffet, not requested off the menu. Having said that, the man on the next table asked for marmite and got it. The toast was lovely but the coffee was a bit muddy. The staff we encountered were all great, friendly and obliging - but somehow the hotel itself just misses the mark. The large landing on the first floor could look fabulous with a couple of gorgeous sofas and the drawing room reminded me of a day room in a hospital. It did snow though, which I enjoyed tremendously.

We stayed here for a wedding on the 3rd / 4th March and I have to say that this was an incredible place to stay! The staff and service are impeccable, the hotel is stunningly beautiful and you feel like you are in another world! Amazing experience staying here and would love to do so again!

Visited this hotel with my husband for two nights. First of all i would like to say that the service is impeccable, however considering its 5 star hotel the amenities is not. We arrive in our hotel room which was spacious and lovely, the first thing i noticed was dirty finger prints on the window which i feel is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. fFurthermore there was no plug sockets near the bed, the bed wasn't comfy, the robes provided were old and not soft, the shower was not powerful, the bath had hair in it. The breakfast which is included in price is not the best either. We also visited the spa which was nice however the mint room didn't seem to work and the steam room wasn't the best. in conclusion amazing staff but the hotel needs improving, the location is perfect too!

Attended wedding at this hotel and from the minute we walked in the staff couldn't do enough for us. Room was great and so comfortable. Mini bar very expensive but didn't detract from the overall experience. Would definitely stay there again.
