This was our second visit to this hotel which is very good value other than on race days. It's a short stroll into the centre of Chester, car parking is free and plentiful. So check into the hotel, leave your car in the car park and explore this wonderful city. We stayed in room 117 this time which is a "refurbished room". Two major problems, the bed is a very small double and from 6AM the strong smell of bacon cooking enters the room from the kitchen extract outside (even with the window firmly closed!). We slept very badly and felt quite sick when the breakfast cooking started. I would also avoid this hotel in the summer as it has no air-con and the room was very hot even in March.

5 of us stayed here last night (mature ladies) perfect for the city centre. Checked in early one room was ready so went to leave all our bags in so we could walk back to the city centre for lunch, the other room we were allocated for 3 was across the corridor which wasn't ready but no problem. We saw there was an interconnecting door which we would have preferred so we could open it & be all together so called down to reception spoke to Emma whom had checked us in asked if it would be possible to have the next door room she said yes no problem she would get the 3rd bed made up in the room & open the connecting door, someone came straight up to open the door for us the bed was sorted while we were out. They also chilled our bottles of wine while out which we had bought with us & gave us wine glasses for the room. Emma was so helpful we were all very impressed, all the staff were friendly & helpful would deffinatly stay there again. Thank you Emma for making our stay enjoyable.

Stayed here for my birthday on 3 March, free car park 5 minute walk to the delights of Chester. Bar open til late Angela was fantastic, so friendly and couldn’t do enough to us, had a lovely evening - better than being in the bars of Chester. Perfect nights sleep, to wake up to a fab breakfast all included what more could you ask for a night away.

Stayed one night on a business trip. Staff friendly, the room was very small, nowhere to put socks etc as no drawers or even shelf space. Far too hot, even when I managed eventually to turn radiator off. Pillows cheap and uncomfortable, TV didn't work. The room next door had their TV on until about 4 am and the walls are so thin that it kept me awake all night. Awful night and I won't ever stay there again.

I am allergic to dust and thought maybe u was coming down with something but the next morning in the day light it was apparent that it was due to the cleanliness of the room, there was dust flying around everywhere! There was so black mould everywhere in the shower, it was dying to be re grouted, there was no plugs by the bed, they’d purposely covered them over! The bed was really comfy but the room was freezing cold and I do not appreciate being followed by the gate house security into the hotel in the pitch black checking that I was definitely staying in the hotel.

we stay there for a week, food was very good, car park free and you dont need a car to get into the shops only five min walk, room very nice for a quite room stay at the back of the hotel away from the main road, staff very helpfull

Stayed here for 1 night last weekend Great place to stay Reception on check in were great and provided us with all the information we needed After a great evening in Chester we arrived back at the Hotel about 10pm Had a couple of drinks in the bar which were reasonably priced Thank you to Adam and Ange for making us feel so welcome Bed was comfortable Breakfast was good Can’t wait to return

We visited the Holiday Inn Express for a two night stay to re-visit Chester after moving away some 19 months ago. Even though we had lived in Chester nearly 20 years we actually felt like tourists. Anyway, we certainly weren't disappointed with our choice of hotel. The hotel was clean, welcoming and off course in walking distant of Chester. The staff were helpful. The breakfast was varied and extensive even though it was a serve yourself buffet.we had a room overlooking the racecourse (315) the room was clean and warm with all the amenities you would expect. Would we stay again...yes we certainly would...well done staff at Holiday Inn Chester.

This budget hotel was clean and comfortable and staff were very pleasant. I was lucky as my room was nice and quiet. Some of my colleagues with rooms near the road or railway line however did find it quite noisy. The rooms are basic but have everything needed including a hair dryer and tea & coffee with the option to top up tea & coffee supplies from the breakfast area. Self service breakfast was ok with cooked and continental offerings, I am not a big breakfast person so cant comment on the cooked offering. This hotel represented good value for money.

Having had our booking with Mercure Chester Abbots Well cancelled at short notice we booked this hotel. We were not disappointed as the staff were helpful, the room modern and clean and breakfast was good. There was free parking and excellent location for walking into the city centre. What's not to like.
