This hotel is on the beach...a plus. The downside is that this place is very dowdy and dirty. The toilet in my room was filthy...took a photo just to show my wife and friends. The room was nasty, lots of mildew, dirty carpets, and intolerably smelly. The bath room door in my room had a chunk chiseled cut out of it to permit it to swing closed past the toilet.

The Palms Hotel was a great place for our vacation. We loved being in a quiet area away from the city, but close enough to go enjoy what Charleston had to offer. The hotel could definitely use a little updating & sprucing up, but overall we very much enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly & helpful with area suggestions and we loved the 24 hours a day coffee. Although there was no gym, we really enjoyed being able to jog and walk the beach.

Just came to relax after working for two clients. One was a long project

Well, the front desk people were great, especially the lady at night when I had a bunch of silly questions. Also the lady in the mornings was helpful when the coffee was gone and she had a new coffee ready to replace it. She was also prepared with my questions about restaurants in the area. Please tell people to not count on the breakfast for food, stale crossaints, but great coffee and always fresh. The room, however, needed updating. The floors were not cleaned. The table on the balcony was very dirty. I tried to clean it off since the balcony on the beach was my main attraction to this hotel. The hotel in general needed a big makeover, very dated. But, was made up by the fact that the staff was friendly and very helpful. Not sure if I would stay again, due to the many condos around. I would only recommend this hotel with the statement that it is dated & worn, but very friendly staff. We were in room 327 and the view as outstanding!

Great find in IOP. Walk to every thing. Friendly staff

It's not a 5-star resort by anyone's definition, but the value, views and location make a stay at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel a 5-star experience. It's right on the beach. I think we paid a little extra to get a beach view room, and it's well worth it! No, you probably won't spend a lot of time in your room, but waking up to a sunrise over the Atlantic and falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves will certainly enhance your experience. There is a handful of great little beach bar/restaurants within a VERY short walk. We loved them all. The rooms and hotel were clean (minus the inevitable sand grains tracked through the stairwells, hallway and pretty much everywhere. I mean, you're on the BEACH!) A nice little breakfast was included with our stay. I'll call it a continental + (cereals, breads, fruit, yogurt and a pancake maker). A very nice option to grab something before heading out for a day in the sun. Enjoy your stay! I know we did.

This was such a wonderful trip. Isle of palms is a gorgeous location. The palms is literall feet away from the beautiful Atlantic ocean. It is located right next to wonderful restaurants and shops. The staff was so friendly! They even had cookies in the afternoon! Charleston was the most friendly city I have ever visited. I can't wait to go back. And I will be staying at the palms again!!

Beautiful place..hotel staff was very friendly.. We will stay their again !!!

The staff were very nice and accommodating. The hotel was not so great. The room was tiny. The beds were hard. We could hear every noise out side of our room, including the singer at the bar next door. One of the beds was right next to the wall unit air conditioning so that bed was freezing while the other half of the room was hot.

It was a last minute decision to go down with my family. We were able to get a room so we decided to spend a couple days at the beach. The location is awesome... right next to the beach. Hotel could start to perform some upgrades with common areas and stairs but it was overall a great hotel!

The hotel was very quiet during our stay which allowed for much needed R and R , except voice levels that carry in hallway .

The hotel is convenient to everything! Nice oceanfront views with helpful staff. We'll stay there again

If you want to be seconds from the beach, this is the hotel for you. The room was basic, not necessarily worth the $140 during the summer, but compared to other hotels around it is worth it for the view.

It left a lot to be desired. When we checked in and made it to the room, the ceiling was coming down above the AC unit and the shower was more than rusted from hard water. When I explained to The front desk clerk, she had major attitude and said she would only move us if there was one available to move us to. It ended up being the adjoining room next door. The shower was better, but the wood cabinet had been severely chewed on by something. And the refrigerator didn't even cool. There was constant noise in the middle of the night and room key stopped working after the first night. Needless to say, it was great location but really needs an upgrade to the whole property. Not pleased at all!

I had read other reviews that were not that favorable. I don't know what they were rating but I was thoroughly pleased and happy with all the hotel offered from breakfast to the long walkway available for beach strollers. The beds had good thick quality crisp sheets. They had WiFi too...WOW! I will definitely stay there again.

We were right on the beach. You'll pay a premium for that anywhere. This was a decent hotel at a fair price. The free breakfast was practically worthless to us being gluten-free (one day we tried to get oatmeal & fruit - the fruit was overripe - ew). But there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The desk staff were friendly, the cleaning staff not as friendly or thorough. The beds were pretty comfy & it was nice having a fridge & microwave in the room.

This hotel was a last minute find. There are very few hotels on the island and this was one of the best. We arrived early to very busy and booked up but they called us when our room was ready before actual check in time. Nice, good rated, bar/restaurant Joes next door to enjoy if you arrive early. The hotel is just like the pictures and does have hotel beach access point. Parking is free and right across the street from the hotel which is great for this busy island. The furniture is a lil worn, but after all it is a beach hotel. The staff are very friendly and although check in is at 4 the late 11 or requested 12 check out is great for that last dip in the ocean before you go.

Just know that you're getting a fantastic rate at a beach front property for a reason. The location is amazing...that's about where it ends. The facilities, including pieces of the room, are falling apart. In fact, my bathroom door had a ingenious carving out of it, so that it could close without hitting on the ill-fit toilet. The staff was friendly but was unable to get towels/washclothes timely. Also, the continental breakfast was about the bare minimum possible. All in all, if you don't plan to spend any time other than sleeping in your room and are ok with it being a bit rundown, this is your place.

The stay at the hotel was great, location was fantastic! The only problem we had was waiting two extra hours to get our room.

This was a great location. Beach was beautiful. Our side view of ocean was also a great view. We were treated to music each night at the restaurant next door. (If you have small children that may not be so good), but we really enjoyed our private balcony location! There was one day our room was not cleaned, but the staff brought us up towels and asked if there was anything they could do. Everyone was nice and accommodating.
