This Resort was about a 15 minute drive from the airport and had a very nice trees and plants. The staff is very friendly and helped us with a lot of questions. On the first day we did a city tour and second day was south of cebu tour so we were not in the resort for too long. On the third day we were in the resort for the full day and it was a very fun and relaxing day the kids swam in both pools and did the wall climbing. The restaurant food is really good every time we had a meal i had to give my complements to the chef. On our 4th day they had a dinner buffet that was cheap and really good. I would recommend this resort to anyone going to cebu looking for a nice place to stay.
Third time this year to stay in this wonderful resort. This time for a month stay. Staff & management are consistently friendly, helpful and outgoing. Gardens are more amazing at each visit and the nightly evening entertainment is outstanding. Perfect place to be with friends and loved ones. No more "snow birding" in Florida for me..... I will be back in December! Wish I could retire at this resort.
If you plan to stay here and expect good food, better not. The food are not even warm. The staff are not accommodating. Worst experience was during breakfast. I asked a staff to heat the soup as it has gone cold. So she approached the cook so that it can be re-heated and he asked, "Why?" Seriously? The room was okay, but there was no available telephone, and wifi sucks.
Even though my taxidriver called the resort, he really had difficulties finding the place, so better arrive during day time as the lanes are very small. The staff were firndly, the food average, the pool nice for its purpose. The rooms not very special and had more a youth hostel atmosphere.
We had our 5 days seminar at Alta Cebu and it was a success! The place is very nice and quiet and the rooms are really nice and clean. The Resort Staff are very accommodating especially Ms. Kristine. Will definitely recommend the resort.
This is the first day review of a 5-day function we are holding here in Alta Cebu Resort. I was given Room 1 for my accommodation and upon entering, the room was reeking with the smell of cigarette smoke and mosquitoes flying everywhere. Take note that the room has "no smoking" signs all over it. I called front desk and a lady resort employee to have the room sanitized and rid of the smell of cigarette smoke and mosquitoes. We re-arranged the conference venue by ourselves as the resort workers left early in the evening. I was expecting they will be up early, as they normally would do, to tidy up the conference venue and make it ready for an 8AM program start. The following day, we proceeded to the conference venue for breakfast but noticed there were no food laid out and attendees were milling about for mire than 30 mins alreadt. The front desk was informed as we couldnt get a hold of a single employee other than a guy sweeping dry leaves. After about 30 more minutes of waiting, i saw a lady who i think works for the resort and asked her where our food is, what time do they plan to set uo the breakfast buffet for everyone, where are the workers to tidy up and ready the conference room and told her we stayed late and I expect the venue to be prepped, food ready. Take note that we had a meeting with the resort manager Joy the previous evening to review the details of the 5 day conference and discussed everything down to what time breakfast would be to parking to security etc.. After i blew my top, food came in. Two employees dragged in the rostrum and took out the tables and mess inside the room and the lady was asking me still for details which were thoroughly discussed with the manager the previous day. DO NOTE this is just the start, the first hour, of our first confernce day and a mess already. And I just paid them more than half a mil php for the conference and this is the service given to me. Oh, and you dont even know how jacked up the pre-conference negotiation with them. I did ocular visit March 28 and discussed all the details, down to the finest one, with their point person Yvonne and she promised to relay it to a manager named Christine. I only heard back from her on April 7 to confirm on the discussions and details i had with their point person and I was told she was in Bohol and that she had a vacation and she only told me that they can only accommodate such and such which was in contrary to what the point person has committed to me during the ocular visit and meeting. Well, i dont care where she went but this was insane as i was left with no option to look for another venue as the following week was a holy week holiday and conference day zero is April 16. The contract was sent to me Monday, April 10, two days before the holiday break. I wonder what will happen the whole day and whether they would be able to pull through and show some much needed service we deserve. I have convened a lot of local and international conference, both domestic and overseas, highly specialised small group of 10 to as a big group of hundreds and this is the worst experience I had thus far in dealing with conference venue people. Worst than what you will expect in having a conference in Juba, South Sudan or Baghdad, Iraq, to which i have convened meetings/ conferences in the past. I have 4 more days to see and experience what Alta Cebu is worth.
Went 25th March this year for a week. Resort clean and very friendly staff but did get ripped off big time over trips but partly our fault as did not check before hand about the prices. This all down to the person who arranges everything - sure it went in his pocket. Nearly all the customers were at conferences so only there short term so no one to chat to during evening or day which is nice to do for the odd evening, etc. Breakfast was fine (we had egg, bacon, toast and jam or rice plus water melon but most of the meals in the restaurant were a bit lacking in quality - some were terrible. Not good when you have to try and find somewhere else. Would recommend local floating restaurant. There is no beach unless you take the 9am shuttle (a taxi usually) to another (posh) hotel which charges you 800 pesos to go in (about £16) each (does include 200 towards lunch). There is a small man made sand beach with rocks in the water so you need to wear shoes. The water never gets deep unless you go out a long way. The staff were very friendly and helpful there. There is a public beach - again free shuttle but only at 9 am and you have to get a taxi or find your own way back which is not easy., You have to pay to go on this beach and it is not very big so gets packed with locals at weekends. Room was fine and linen changed every other day, towels daily. Karaoke went on til all hours and in the end had to ask for it to be turned down after 12 as it got a bit wearing every night. Pools were lovely but the one at the back has lots of different layers in it and very dodgy if you jump in on the wrong side or do not watch where you are going as easy to bash yourself. Long way to go anywhere different as on a small island off Cebu although you could walk and buy the local food. No local restaurants only the little local cafes. Local people really nice and most said hello but think they found us a bit of an oddity as we were the only English people around - certainly got gawped at a lot. Very safe place to be and no worries about walking anywhere at any time but this seems to be the way in the Philippines.
Just was there for a conference PROS: Very comfortable beds, kind, accommodating staff, no more creepy crawlies than you would find at a five star resort, good sized rooms The resort is a few minutes walk from a main street where you can find fresh fruit, bakeries and other necessities. The wet market was wonderful. The resort is also decorated in a quirky style that deserves mention. Also, there are enough bathrooms, which many resorts don't have! Guy that runs the karaoke is a riot and a real asset to the resort. CONS: Food not great. I agree with a previous poster that a mango salad should come with mango and while I do think the owners comment has some truth about 'manana' - laid back - there should be some accuracy. I was also told that the resort had 'run out of tea', so the next day I walked to a shop and bought some for myself. If you get tired of the sauce heavy foods, I recommend the pizza. There does need to be a balance between the karaoke (greatly enjoyed by many) and the cut off time. Our second night I asked what time the outdoor karaoke stopped and was told 10.30pm, which is very reasonable. Unfortunately, it was 1.30am before they stopped, and as another poster commented, as it is open mike, some of the people have more enthusiasm than talent. We had to be up early tht next morning for our conference and a lot of us were very tired. But that night, we were ready to sing, although another group had just arrived and so we shut it down at 10pm. There does seem to be a closed room that could accommodate Karaoke after 10.30/11pm if that is requested. That might be a good balance and we would have loved it! As for the planes, they do fly overhead - one or two an hour is about right. You stop your conversation for a few seconds until it is quiet enough to resume and then you do. Im not a stickler for cleanliness - but there was blood on the wall of my room which was a bit macabre! If you're looking for a budget resort with a lovely pool, lovely staff and great rooms, this is a fine choice for you. Didn't stay there with kids but the kids who were there seemed to be having a fantastic time.
Stayed here 6 nights March 2017. Very pleased to be told we had a free upgrade from our basic room to the jungle room 3 as there was a conference and this would be quieter. This resort is used a lot for local conferences, seminars and training days. While we were there there were several going on but these did not impact on us at all. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, at all times, can't fault them in any way. When we reported a fault with our shower, a man was dispatched immediately to sort it out. The upgraded room was spacious and comfortable with a superking size bed, with room valeting offered everyday, with clean towels and bedding. Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities provided. A very good and reasonably quiet air-con unit. Only minus was the bathroom which could do with being revamped. We had our granddaughters with us for two nights of our stay, and they loved the hand painted jungle scenes on the walls, with tigers, a monkey, elephant and other animals peeking out from the foliage. The children's pool was great for them also. These pools have graded steps in them which were a bit hard to see, and I nearly tripped over while holding the baby, but on mentioning to staff they assured us that they have already planned to paint these a contrasting colour in the near future. The rooms are set in a garden layout, with lots of interesting nooks to explore, and little swings and roundabouts. Great for kids. A couple if negatives, although they didn't worry us at all: the hotel is situated under the flightpath for planes landing in Mactan international so every few minutes you could see a plane coming down to land. Nevertheless the hotel is a good way from the airport so not really an issue. The hotel bar plays music all the time, usually caraoke which we quite enjoyed, but some of it was not that good. We are fairly laid back so just went with the flow, and even enjoyed it, but if peace and quiet is what you are looking for, this is not the place for it. We chose this resort as I had been ill during our month in the Philippines and need somewhere away from the dreadful pollution in Cebu. This resort is based towards the bottom of Cordova on Mactan island so air is much better. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.
Some of the staff e.g. Reception and cleaners we very helpful and friendly but we found the restaurant (breakfast and evening meals) staff were not as efficient, we requested a cup of tea for breakfast but no tea bags in the hotel, when we spoke to the reception they were surprised by their attitude and had some sent to our room that day. The food (breakfast and evening) meals were poor but no where else to eat in the area outside. The drinks were quite expensive but we found the barman very friendly. The hotel advertised various facilities but we found a lot of them were closed or unavailable. Transfer to the beach only went at 9 am and took you to an hotel which charged you day entrance fee which was quite expensive. The pool was very nice and the rooms had tea and coffee making facilities. We had our washing done there and was one of the more expensive places we had it done in the Philippines
