We stayed here overnight on our way home form a river cruise. It was unfortunate that this coincided with a particularly hot and humid night as the hotel had no air conditioning and leaving the window open did not really help at all. Also it was was a shame that there was a power cut so the provided fans did not work so sleeping was almost impossible. Not the hotels fault and the air con would not have worked either. Overall the staff were good and the meal we had was fine. Breakfast was a very good choice and the hotel was clean. It is surprising that this modern hotel has no air-conditioning in view of the fact that so many Americans stayed there, knowing how Americans love air conditioning I wonder how they stood it in the summer! I would have given the hotel four stars because it deserved it but I would not say this was the best place to stay on a hot and humid summers night.
We loved our room to start with, a double bed for the first time in 10 days, but to our horror found that there was no air conditioning, we had a restless night due to the heat and the fan was no use at all. Food was ok but nothing to rave about.
We stayed one night here on our way to join our cruise boat in Cologne. We arrived very late due to weather conditions on the Channel but the staff were prepared to serve up a three course meal to all those who chose to have one. Our room was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was continental and more than adequate.
When arriving at the hotel with my biker mates after a while days ride from Wales. I ordered 3 rooms where I was sharing. On booking this hotel I required the room to share with 2 single beds. But once arrived he told me there was nothing on the booking. He did not find me an alternative room and was not really helpful after that. My message is make sure you tell them what you need because they don't really read the requirements . If I had a different faith he would have accommodated me. So quite crap!
The hotel is about a mile from SHAPE and easy to find by car, with a big car park. Inside it feels like a standard business hotel. However, there is no restaurant and nothing much obvious in the area to eat in. Breakfast is €15 and a limited range of microwaved snacks is available from the bar. My room faced the rear and was quiet, but without air conditioning could be hot in summer. The room was also quite small with nowhere to open a suitcase out flat except the bed or floor. The bathroom had more storage space than usual but the safe was above eye level and not big enough for a wide screen laptop. Everything was clean and well maintained, and the staff pleasant. The location is handy for Mons if you have a car.
Stayed here for work as it was conveniently placed. Clean and tidy with very helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. I was initially disappointed that there was no evening restaurant but this fact encouraged me to get the bus from outside the hotel into Mons (£3.00) and I had a thouroughly good evening.
We travelled with Leger to spend New Year in Belgium and stayed at this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel, the rooms were over 2 floors, my room was spacious, clean, warm, light and airy, with a flat screen TV, fridge and safe with a large and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was small but functional and there were plenty of clean white towels. My 1st floor room overlooked the entrance, but it was very quiet. The hotel was very clean and tidy, the dining room was roomy and the food really good and plentiful. The staff were lovely, friendly, smiley, helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they made our stay special. Big thanks to Jean Charles and his colleagues who looked after us so well at meal times. Although the hotel is a bit out of town it is in a lovely location, the hotel have an easy to follow short circular walk map which enabled us to explore the area. We called into a pharmacy near the end of our 2 mile walk, the staff were really helpful and we were given free bottles of perfume as a New Year gift, which was a lovely touch. The hotel was close to the centre of Mons by car, which is a nice little town worth a visit. We were well placed to visit Brussels which is a must to visit if you are in the area, especially the main square which was stunning. We were also close enough to visit Dinant on the River Meuse this beautiful town is full of history well worth a visit.
I was here over Christmas for 4 nights with Leger (approx. 50 on coach) The hotel is in, my mind a remote area, where most people will need there own transport, there is not very much to see or do in the local area. Very handy for S.H.A.P.E. which is only a kilometre or so away. There are buses that pass the front of the hotel. The hotel is a modern building. They have a large parking area. The section we were in was only two floors but had no lift. The rooms we had were of good size with en suite (shower only), no air conditioning, tv had 3 English speaking channels, a free room safe and tea/coffee facilities. The rooms were cleaned and serviced every day. There is a reasonable bar adjacent to reception with limited seating but there are other seating areas. Breakfast was from 07.30 until 10.00 am, with hot food as well as the usual cereals, bread, ham, cheese etc.. The hotel has no food in the evening other than bar snacks(we had a special arrangement for Christmas), there is a restaurant just outside the hotel entrance. WiFi is free and worked for me all over the site. The hotel staff were good and helpful. Overall a good average hotel. There is a separate section to the hotel which seems to be some type of self catering (?) area.
Typically, I don't have much good to say about hotels. The BW Casteau is a rare exception of a nice hotel with great staff. Magali for example was the only one able to help me identify and solve car rental problems. She gave me great advise on places to go to (Grand Pres). She helped me with reservations. She helped me again and again with every little problem I had. Valentin and Jason are also great people who helped as needed (e.g. finding an opened pharmacy on a Sunday or explaining silly things like "refills", extra costs for Ketchup, Mayo, etc.). In essence, the staff (including the Week End staff - Can't recall his name) have been VERY helpful.
We stayed in a suite it was nice and very clean. The shower was a half door and was odd. The staff were very helpful and posirive. The breakfast had a lot to choose from and I enjoyed it. The hours for the breakfast were good as well so we could sleep in a little. Plenty of pillows for the bed too. Only complaint was you could hear pretty well the neighbors above and those in the atrium inside the building. All and all it was a good stay. We had a reduced rate for business, but I looked at the price and it was more for non business.
