I was disappointed in my room at this hotel, but mostly because when I booked it on Priceline, it was billed as a 4 Star hotel. The room was fine. The bed was comfortable. I would have been very happy with my stay if I had intended to book a 2 Star hotel. The rooftop pools are small, but nice. There is a lovely view of the beach. The beach is right across the street. The hotel is also close to groceries and many good restaurants. It was normal and fine. I appreciate the hotel and staff, I just feel pissed at Priceline.
This hotel has seen better days, it is not maintained well. For example, the elevator button to our floor didn’t work, so we always had to get off one floor below and walk up. And this wasn’t a temporary thing that was getting fixed, that’s just how it is. The staff, however is very friendly and helpful, but they too cannot change the slowly crumbling infrastructure. Another example: on the gas stove which is used to prepares egg dishes at breakfast, both knobs are broken off. So the poor cook has to burn her fingers every time she has to adjust the heat by pinching the bare metal bolt. There are just too many such little details – in the sum they create an unpleasant ambiance. On the positive side: the bed was very comfortable and the maids did an excellent job in cleaning the room every day.
We where a group of 26 people, most of the rooms without towels, 3 rooms without A/C, had to wait more than 2 hours to fix most of the issues, personnel lack of professionalism and very, very rude especially the night shift receptionist. The manager didn’t even arrive until next day to just apologize for all the inconvenience.
horrible experience. personal was rude and very unprofessional. i find my room without towels to take shower and i ask for a single tower and nobody ever show up with the towel.they seem annoyed with me because i spent the whole evening asking for a towel that nobody ever gave me
Don't book this hotel if your booking is for 2 adults and you check in alone. This hotel has an obscure policy designed to extort extra money from their guests. It is customary for all non-registered guests to check their ID at the front desk before they can be allowed to access a room. For security reasons, this is understandable. If you have a booking for 2 adults and check-in alone and plan to receive guests for short or long visits during your stay, be careful. According to an undisclosed hotel policy, after your first guest is allowed access to your room, no matter how short was the visit, this hotel will charge you extra for every other guest thereafter before they can access your room even though your booking was for 2 adults in the room. Some of the staff is very cordial but some of the front desk staff will treat you very badly if your challenge that undisclosed policy. So, your options are to pay, check out early or get your guest to leave. If your stay was pre-paid, you might lose all your money if you check out early. My advice is not to book this hotel if you plan to check in alone and expect guests into your room for short or long stay. Every time someone new shows up, they will charge you extra whether or not you are the only one in the room. Most booking sites are not aware of that policy or decide not to disclose it. In any event, once you are at the hotel, you have no choice but to comply with that undisclosed policy once the front desk decides to enforce it.
I really enjoy my time at the hotel Regatta in my opinion the rooms are really big you have more than enough space in each room, the price is perfect in regards to the alloction, it located in one of the most popular place of Cartagena Bocagrande in front of the beach so comparing price and services i will give a 10/10
I don't know if "jankity" is a word but hopefully you get the idea -- this room's door didn't shut properly, the aircon leaked constantly and the sink faucet seemed like it was barely attached to the sink. The shower water got warm but not hot, and the "King" size bed was actually two twin beds pushed up next to each other. We had a room with two beds, as I was sharing a room with a colleague. The room was exceptionally spacious with a large, open area with one bed, old TV and a dining set including a fridge. Then there was a separate bedroom that had the bathroom in it. So the spaciousness was nice, but the layout was super weird that you had to go into the other person's room in order to use the restroom. That said, the bed was quite comfortable and the room was extremely spacious. The view was AMAZING -- full ocean view out the front of the room although I know not all rooms have the view (some had a concrete wall!) so be sure to request an ocean view room. Also it's next door to a Casino that had flashing bright lights all night long -- thankfully the hotel has black-out shades but you'll definitely have to use them! The two rooftop pools were definitely the highlight and it had a nice bar and patio that we enjoyed most nights. I'm sure it's significantly cheaper than the Intercontinental next door, but with the same beach access and views. I would recommend it as long as you know what to expect as far as room layout/condition, etc. Restaurant was average, the food was high quality but just a little boring. Coffee was great, though!
I was unsure of what to expect since I read mixed reviews. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Personnel was very attentive, facilities were clean, complementary breakfast was very good and it was a safe hotel in a good area. Hotel is located in Bocagrande and you have the beach right across the street. Behind the hotel you have multiple places to shop and eat. Breakfast choices included fresh fruits, yogurt, fresh juices, assorted breads and hot food. The daily staples consisted of scrambled plain eggs or with onion and tomato, mini arepas and sausage. There were two or three additional trays that contained local breakfast staples. Their black coffee was strong which was great for me. There are two pools: one on the 11th floor and the other on the 13th. I liked the one on the 11th which faces the front of the hotel. Although it's small there was never really a crowd to make it uncomfortable. I never checked out the 13th floor which is supposed to face the back of the hotel. My room was very spacious and faced the front of the hotel. I was located on the 9th floor and it was good enough that I was never bothered by traffic. AC worked perfectly. Rooms were cleaned daily. The bathroom is rather small and has seen better days. It does not have area to place cosmetics, hair brush and any other toiletries. There is no hair dryer which did not bother me since the heat and humidity from outdoors would ruin any time spent on fixing your hair. You do have a safe to place your valuables. Bed was kingsize which was great. You have TV and free WiFi. Wifi worked pretty well for the most part. There were a couple of times when it seemed to slow down. It's easy to get to the walled city which holds the majority of sight seeing, restaurants and bars. You can easily grab a cab back and forth. Public transportation is also available two blocks behind the hotel. Buses are way cheaper and safe. I booked all of my sightseeing trips through the desk located in the lobby and found them to be decently priced.
I was extremely nervous to stay here given the reviews left.... the rooms were clean and spacious.... We had a beach front view it was awesome.. taxis always parked in front of hotel very happy. Looking forward to returning... breakfast was also very good
Spacious suite rooms, obviously converted from apartments. Fixtures are older and worn. Elevators slow. Nice breakfast buffet. Good location across from Beach and near many good restaurants. Biggest gripe is absence of any English-speaking desk clerks, particularly given a fair amount of American guests.
- Free buffet breakfast
- Free WiFi in rooms and public areas
- Free valet and self parking
- Onsite dining
