Is a good hotel in a good location in historic district.

The staff was remarkable! From the very first interaction we had with our chauffeur that picked us up from the airport, to the late night receptionist who greeted us so warmly, to the restaurant servers who called us by name each morning at breakfast and let's not forget the rooftop bartender! Every single employee at the Bastion Luxury Hotel was professional, kind, courteous and responsive. I recommend this place over and over! We loved our stay!

It was a pleasant stay. The staff made us feel welcomed.

The service was above average but still not at the level I was expecting. Our room had poor ventilation and a bit of a musty smell. The staff was attentive to our needs and were helpful for the most part. We enjoyed morning breakfast and drinks by the pool. I would recommend the hotel to family and friends.

The hotel is very well located if you want to be within Old City, but don't expect nice views from the rooms windows. The pool area in the Terrace was really nice during the day and night. The service at restaurant for breakfast was hit or miss. Some days we were greeted with awesome typical Colombian snacks and some others it seemed like they were understaffed, as we were waiting for coffee for some time. Certainly if you travel from the US and are paying in dollars this is a very good value for the price per night, superior to what you would get in a hotel of same price in the US (at least if you think about East Coast hotel prices) At check out they also charged a so called Hotel Insurance, that they say you can opt-out, off course, we did, so not sure what this is for, just make sure you opt out -don't understand the purpose of it

The hotel was great, I only have two improvement comments, my room was closed to the stairways and was a little to noise and the breakfast should included more typical cucine

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Bastion hotel. The hotel staff was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We especially enjoyed the view from the rooftop pool, which is unique to other comparable luxury hotels. It is also located in a superb location within the historical city center, which is convenient for walking around and exploring the beautiful streets, as well as walking to some of the very best restaurants within the old city. The room was well air-conditioned and spacious, and we had a comfortable bed. The breakfast was good with a variety of fresh fruits, juices, yogurts, cold cuts, pastries, and eggs cooked to order. We also enjoyed the spa, and the service was outstanding. Two areas could be improved: housekeeping services could be more attentive to details to ensure everything was stocked so we did not have to call down repeatedly for additional items. We also had some issues with transportation booked through our hotel. One driver repeatedly tried to give us the hard sell for additional activities, and another driver for the airport transfer tried to coerce us into paying the fare twice (we had already paid at the hotel), even going so far as to mock-calling the hotel to say that we had not paid for it.

The most friendly, attentive and down to earth staff you could ever desire. And always English speakers available which is very much not to be taken for granted in Colombia. Beautiful rooftop pool and service available with fabulous views!

I truly enjoyed my stay at Bastion. The hotel is just as gorgeous in person as it is in the pictures. The staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. Jhordan, the Concierge reached out to me before I even arrived and with his help I was able to get information on what to do and where to eat in Cartagena and make arrangements/reservations. I'll definitely be back.

I took my wife for a last minute getaway to Cartagena. ALL her friend thought I was crazy for going to Columbia and she was crazy for excepting. Well they all ended up eating their words. This city was awesome! The restaurants are quaint and offer excellent food. From this hotel, the Bastion, with excellent service from the moment we entered to the unfortunate day we had to leave. We enjoyed our experience with everyone at the hotel. The rooms were great. Definitely get the Premium room with the balcony, to the massages which were excellent to the tasty cocktails on the rooftop pool overlooking the city and ocean in the distance. We made some good friends from Bogota and thoroughly enjoyed our time with them and the people of Cartagena! This is a quick flight from Fort Lauderdale (less than 3 hours) and easy in and out a the airport! We would highly recommend it this hotel and the city!
