We stayed here as a couple in February. Would stay here again. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Location across the street from the ocean in Carlsbad can’t be beat. Good value for price.
The floors of the hallways and inside the rooms need to be changed. They are extremely cold and slippery when wet. Also they have puddles in the hallways when they rain. But property wise this is an excellent hotel with the heated pool, kids and adults spa, rec room, free breakfast and panaromic ocean view rooms and within a few feet from Carlsbad State beach.

Great place! Great location with a nice pool and two different hot tubs (one for adults and one for kids). Rooms were nicely updated while the overall resort was a little dated but kept in great condition. The location was my absolutely favorite part: beautiful, safe, great views, and family friendly (while not being over crowded either)!
We liked the ocean view and beach access. The breakfast could have been better quality/selection.
Housekeeping staff was amazing. Kind and hardworking.

Had a nice four night stay at Tamarack Beach Resort. The ocean view patio was a great choice for excellent views and sunsets. The staff are very friendly! We found the breakfast host was hard-working and efficient to make sure our meals were available in a Covid-Safe manner. Thank you for a nice stay!

It was close to everything. Everyone was nice. The facilities were clean.
First, Orbitz did not tell me that in booking the last room, we'd be in a handicapped room that was significantly smaller than the one depicted. The A/C was REALLY loud and even with earplugs kept me up at night. The toilet was also loud. We had to lift the handle after flushing and it continued to run for at least a full minute. The walls let sound penitrate so much that we could make out any conversation outside our doors. We faced the pool, so it was often very loud. The second day I didn't realize the staff had come in to change linnens and opened our room-darkening blinds, leaving only the shears over the very public window. I came in from the beach, took a quick shower and proceeded to get ready for about five minutes...before I realized the dozen people outside probably had as good a view in as I had out. The man who checked us in was very kind and apologetic about the room before we ever saw it. As it was completely booked, we didn't bother complaining. The breakfast was bland and limited, but I figure free continental is still free. I ate a boiled egg (not something I'd ever had for breakfast) and my husband ate a toasted english muffin each morning. Than we hit a pastry shop. Location is good, but the beach is steep, which I think is responsible for the waves crashing nearly right at the shore, so we had to walk or drive to a place we could boogie board without getting thrashed. They did have boogie boards to check out for free, which was great.
