Excellent service. Big room with large king bed. Would stay there if in Cardiff again.

I was at the hotel for one night. The room was tiny, but efficiently arranged. There was not really enough lighting. The heat was hard to figure out. The shower was great. It was quiet and convenient. The desk clerk was young and inexperienced. The breakfast was excellent. I would stay there again.

The manager at the front desk insisted that I sign a charge for £456 as security for amenities. I only agreed to sign it if he would provide a receipt, which he agreed to do. After I signed it, he told me that the copy machine was up on the fourth floor, and that he would get it later and put it under my door. I went to dinner, came back and, when it wasn't there, asked him for it again. This time he told me that since he was the only one at the front desk, he couldn't leave, but he would get it later and slide it under my door (seriously, they only have one person on site that can make a copy of something?!! The next morning, it still wasn't there. The night before I checked out I went back to the front deal, and sighed when I saw him behind it. Still, I had a 6:00 am flight and I really needed a wakeup call to make sure I didn't oversleep! He smiled and assured me that this wouldn't be a problem. When I came back later that night I decided I better check with the night person at the front desk. Sure enough no wake-up call had been recorded. I generally pleasant experience ruined by a smarmy and surly staff.

This is the second time I have stayed at The Park Thistle Hotel in Cardiff. Both times have been nice. I would recommend it if for no other reason than the location. I was in town to attend conferences both times at Cardiff University and the hotel is in an excellent location to walk to the different campus buildings. It is also just off of Queen Street with large numbers of shops, restaurants and pubs. The staff are nice and helpful. I remember that my first time staying had some noise issues with people walking past my room and squeaky floorboards, but that is not surprising in an older building. My last stay was in one of the two ‘attic’ rooms and it was very quiet with just one neighbour and no one walking around outside my door. The room was smaller, but I actually really liked it. I would recommend this hotel.

This is a very beautifull place to stay. Just 5 minutes by foot to Cardiff castle. Windows has a beautifull view. The staff is very friendly. If I visit Cardiff more times I will stay at this hotel.
