I'm a very frequent traveler and I stay at IHG properties whenever I can. Check in went smoothly but the staff was neither particularly friendly or welcoming. They were NOT rude - just didn't seem very interested in making a guest happy. I travel for work and the wi-fi was less than worthless on the fourth floor. It would hook up and drop or was so slow it basically froze the computer. It was easier just to use my own data. My room and the hotel seemed clean but there were swipe marks on the elevator doors, mirrors, and the room TV that indicated poor cleaning. I'm not a white glove guy but several of the higher surfaces in the room were covered in dust. I've included a pic of the headboard. It looked almost like someone had dusted it with powder but it was just plain old dust. These may not seem like big things but I stay at a lot of Holiday Inn and HI-E properties and this is not common to the brand. Guest laundry washer was good but the drier took almost $3 to dry one load. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. Work area was spacious and comfortable. Several good restaurants within easy walking distance.

The room was a typical Holiday Inn but there is something good in consistency. It was clean and well taken care of. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Although nothing special in way of decor it was nice place to stay.

Hotels rooms were very nice seemed brand new they had a pool and fitness center good breakfast staff was good plenty of parking outside bathroom was very clean and the tv was nice plenty of channels beds were very comfortable I got the king room definitely recommend staying there we are in town for work for a few months tried to get a better rate for 6 rooms 7 days a week for a few months but wasn't able to make a deal so we ended up going to the comfort inn which is ok but they have no problem filling the rooms there loved my stay

Traveling the USA on our Harley. :-). Stayed at this hotel one night. Very convenient location to restaurants and the Harley dealer which is a plus for us riders! The room was furnished well and was comfortable. Liked the ample desktop space. Breakfast was good. All staff encountered were friendly. Give a pat on the back to the front desk crew. They had a good sense of humor, were friendly, and helpful. Travel safe...

Wow, cannot say enough great things about this hotel. First time I have stayed in a Holiday Inn in over 35 years. They have changed! Beautiful, clean, nicely appointed room. Greatest lighting in a hotel room we have ever seen. Great shower, spacious room & bathroom . Small reefer, microwave, comfortable bed, pillows, chairs, clear tv picture and close caption option, loads of outlets. Keurig coffee maker, cookies late afternoon, nice towels, great toiletries, iron, functional hair dryer. Staff friendly & efficient. Great experience overall!

We were moving from Georgia to Wisconsin. It is roughly a 14 drive. Marion was about half way. Great service by the staff, excellent room, very clean and awesome breakfast. The best part is that this hotel is pet friendly. It was only an extra $25 per night, not per pet. We had 2 dogs. I would highly recommend this hotel

First off, the room was very nice, clean & spacious and the staff was friendly! That's why I'm giving 3 stars. :-) My main disappointments may be minor to some, but for me, the 'little things' matter: 1. The wifi was down. We were told some construction workers cut the line, "but we have FREE breakfast tomorrow!" (Don't you always have free breakfast???) Wifi is very important to some people. Especially when needing to business online. Fortunately we were only staying one night. 2. The bed was hard. Another reviewer mentioned this was a new hotel, however, I find that difficult to believe as the bed was quite hard and uncomfortable. We've stayed in many Holiday In Express hotels, and this was probably the least comfortable of any of them. :-( (We LOVE HIE, we even have their signature bedding on our bed at home!) 3. I asked for an additional comforter and was told they "only have one per bed", no extras... so they brought me a mattress pad. (Really???) Yes, a fitted mattress pad that goes on the mattress first under a fitted sheet. Oh yeah, and it was still damp. (Hopefully from the dryer.) How is it that a hotel only has one comforter for each bed? What happens when they launder them? Or maybe they don't? *** I DO understand that, by bringing me the mattress pad, they were trying to accommodate my request, and the man was very nice, but come on. I wouldn't expect them to have an extra comforter for EACH room, but SOME extras at least. The flat out statement that they "only have one per bed" just didn't seem logical to me, especially for this type of business. 4. Breakfast was nice, but the pancake machine was broken. Again, maybe a minor detail to some, but it was the last thing we did on our way out the door so it just added to the 'minor' disappointment list. I much prefer writing great reviews, so I again want to emphasize the room was very nice, clean & spacious and the staff was friendly!

Hotel is average, bathroom door kept closing on us, milk at breakfast frozen. Bed fairly hard compared to other hotels in the area. Good location, close to highway and restaurants. Walking distance to Miners ballpark.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Marion Illinois on April 7th. Two nights after we checked out, I noticed a $250 charge on my credit card, in addition to the $87.47 fee for the room. I called, was told that it was a smoking charge, and that I needed to talk to Jeremy the manager on duty about it. I asked when he’d be in, and was told the next morning. I didn’t get a call back. I called the Holiday Inn tollfree number and opened a claim number. They were very supportive. I explained that neither my husband nor I smoked and we would be happy to have a blood test to prove this. I finally talked to Jeremy and he told me it was a smoking charge. He personally had gone to the room, smelled smoke and had to have the room deep cleaned and we were being charged for that and the loss of use for that night. I was flabbergasted!! I called both the Holiday Inn toll free number and my credit card company to dispute the charge. I feel this is a scam..anyone else have a similar experience?

The location of this lovely new hotel is the best. Located in a new developing area of Marion known as the Hill. Good restaurants,are within walking distance. The famous 17th Street BBQ home of the multiple blue ribbon winner of BBQ cookouts. The owner has been featured on morning news shows, Travel channel, Food channel etc. Buffalo Wild Wings soon to be open across the street. IF you love baseball the minor league team stadium of the Miners is located behind the hotel. Menard is just down the road. Besides a good location this hotel is clean. Extremely clean. Grounds is kept up well too. The employees all must be scrutinized before hiring with the requirement to be kind and friendly. Everytime you pass someone who works there they smile and greet you. I am going to mention 2 employees who stood out. Taylor who worked the day shift at the check in/out desk and Bonnie who ran the daily breakfast. By the way the staff seemed like they genuinely liked each other and filled in or pitched in during heavy used times. In other words helped another to do there job. All the employees seemed to enjoy their job and seemed proud to be employed at this Holiday Inn Express. Well managed hotel. Bonnie ran the breakfast bar efficiently keeping it full even up to 15 minutes before breakfast closing time. She offered a large variety of items to choose from. It varied slightly from day to day. Bonnie said when she travels she gets tips from other breakfast managers on how to make her breakfast bar better. Now that is dedication. We had a king suite and was very satisfied with the rooms offerings and cleanliness. It is wonderfully dog friendly but charges a daily pet fee which is for cleaning after a pet. Enjoyed our stay under the circumstance of having a housefire. We loved having a good place to rest our head and being able to face a new day to deal with effects of a fire with a good healthy breakfast. Thank you to all at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites of Marion, Ill. I and my husband will wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone
