Wow. What a lovely hotel. Great location. Impeccable staff and amazing meals. Beautiful room. Jump on bus right out the front.. Breakfast is a highlight. Full buffet with everything from cheeses and smoked salmon to eggs cooked to order and sweet delights.

We booked into the 'mansions' on the recommendation of the travel agent. After a seamless check in we were shown to our room, with peeling paint and no reception on the television. After many calls to the manager we were eventually moved to another room overlooking the courtyard, still dated but working. During our stay the 'included' breakfast was minimal and served by a skeleton staff (often on their phones) due to it being the off season (so we were told). The location allows for walking along the foreshore and enjoying the ocean (weather permitting). Due to ill weather we booked a facial & massage in the in-house salon and were told they were finished 45 minutes into the 60 minute massage. However after the manager got involved and we were given a 15 minute massage the next day. We would not recommend the salon. During our stay we used the complimentary car service offered to guests, however we were told the hotelwere unable to honour our booking at the last minute and the hotel paid for a taxi. This hotel has a lot of potential, but seems to be resting on its reputation, hopefully our stay was during an off week for the establishment.

Our stay at Winchester had a warm and welcoming feel. The staff and service was very personalized. The shuttle service was very efficient, really a 10 min interval from the time of a call until they pick you up. Also the fact that a Citibus stop is right across the street was convenient. And the location is great with a lovely walkway along the sea and some great restaurants close by. I will definitely use this hotel again in future. Love the "old town" character it has and would love to have dinner in the courtyard in Summer.

We had a really fabulous stay at Winchester Mansions. The staff were superb ! So friendly and accommodating . The hotel itself is a little old but has been maintained well. Our room was a little dated but for me that wasn't a problem as it added to the old world charm of the hotel. I didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar ( which is frequented by locals) was fantastic with a lovely porch to sit out in the sunshine ( when it wasn't blowing a gale ! ) again the staff in the bar were very friendly and we made some very memorable moments ;-) For me the location was perfect. You are right on the promenade so going for long walks was easy, a bike hire place is a 5 min walk away.... It is close to the V and A waterfront if that is what you would like to do. There are a few restaurants and cafes close by in Sea point - we went to NV 80 which I would recommend. I felt safe enough during the day but I don't know if I would walk around at night. We went on a fantastic private wine tour with a lady called Elle 0027 84 5166898. All in all a wonderful 4 day stay in Capetown.

Over 5 nights we REALLY loved our stay. The detailed touches for a returning guest was wonderfull with a small box of chocolates and a bottle of wine in the room. We took the opportunity to experience almost everything the hotel has to offer and was not disappointed with a single thing. This was a wonderful hotel and we're very thankful for all the staff making our experience a wonderful one. Special thanks to check-in, restaurant staff and the cleaners.

We stayed at Winchester for our 25th anniversary celebration. We chose to stay in Sea Point / Camps Bay because it's one of the most beautiful places in the world. We did research on hotel in cape town and Winchester had some of the best reviews. We were not disappointed. The staff were exceptional in their hospitality. A special thank you to Gwen who takes customer satisfaction very seriously. We were really spoilt....We were upgraded to a lovely sea facing room because they knew that it was our anniversary, and we were able to watch sunsets and tandem paragliding from our bedroom window. The breakfast was just fabulous...and could be enjoyed from the outside terrace with a spectacular view. Tony and Venecia Barries

I booked The Winchester for my elderly mother to stay in as I felt it would be the most suitable with regard to comfort, caring staff and a good breakfast. As well as being centrally located. She had the most wonderful time there. I requested a quiet room not too far from the lift. The room was clean with special touches of a complimentary bedtime chocolate and the bed turned down with the heater on. Perfect to come back to after the cold night air. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I can highly recommend this hotel.

A warm welcome by reception staff who made us feel we were long time guests -- esp so as our flight arrived CPT 2 hours late. The location is wonderful being on the waterfront (notably so on 7th june when Cape Town had its worst storm in 30 years and waves were crashing over the foreshore - spectacular). Truly a classic hotel, makes you think of old time hotels like Raffles in Singapore, and the 3 floor rooms are laid out in a square around an internal courtyard laced with bougainvillea. All hotel staff, whether dining room (great breakfasts), bar, cleaners or reception were efficient, friendly and courteous.

The location of the Winchester on the waterfront was perfect for watching the waves of the Atlantic Ocean roll in and the stunning sunsets while sitting and sipping sparkling on the balcony bar - an absolute treat. In front of the hotel is a huge lawn area where paragliders land constantly after their thrilling ride and the back drop is mountainous. This hotel is an ole worldly establishment with the rooms surrounding an atrium, lovely feel about it. We were a group of six travelling together, we all had rooms on different floors and locations and all the rooms were comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly when we made enquiries on where to go to eat and shop and were spot on every time. The courtesy car was a convenient feature and we used it twice for going out to dinner downtown. The V&A Waterfront was only a short distance by car but you can walk it, takes about 45 minutes. Great variety of shops and a lot of high end ones as well. The buffet breakfast was excellent, the variety was incredible, had a European feel about it. We all enjoyed our stay at the Winchester Mansions and would recommend to friends. So pleased we were allocated this hotel and not the Hilton downtown.

3rd time at the hotel had a great stay. Accommodation is neat, clean and location is good. Food was delicious. Staff friendly EXEPT stay away from the bar. The staff is not very competent, rude and can do with some training in hospitality.
