Booked well in advance and if you do you can turn up whenever you like. It starts at 11am until 2pm with a massive selection of foods to choose from. The jazz band are excellent with most in their 80's but they can really play and it was an excellent way to spend a brunch. The hotel manager was very attentive and everyone really enjoyed themselves, My only issue was the service charge applied to the extra glass of champagne we had. I thought what equated to 9 english pounds was excessive for bringing 3 glasses of champagne over so we didn't pay it.
Great location and lovely hotel with beautiful view by the seaside; however, my husband and I were disappointed to find that our beds comprised of two twin beds placed side by side. We have stayed in numerous hotels abroad and are not unaccustomed to two twin beds being placed together to make a double bed; however, what was highly disappointing was that one single double bed sheet was not used to cover the two twin beds but instead had two single sheets with a obvious gap between the two beds and two separate twin blankets were placed on the bed. We were visiting South Africa in celebration of our anniversary but instead, we felt like two divorced or separated couple during our stay in this hotel.
Winchester Mansions is on the front at Seapoint. It is around a 5 minute drive from the V&A waterfront (hotel shuttle bus service) and a 50 minute walk by the sea. The Rooms are comfortable and have all the necessary amenities. The restaurant is great and there are options of, full on a la carte or bar meals in the evening. The bar is busy with both tourists and locals. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The Hop on Hop off bus has a pickup point immediately outside the hotel. Would definitely recommend if not looking for a resort hotel.
Very good hotel and facilities but need shuttle or taxi for sightseeing. Nevertheless the free shuttle provided to the waterfront was very useful and the drivers very accommodating. We would go there again.
This is one of the older buildings in Cape Town, certainly as far as hotels go and it is really lovely. Comfortable rooms, sea views, attentive and friendly staff and only a short hop on the free shuttle bus to the V&A and city center. The included breakfast was excellent with a choice of 'continental' or 'full English' as well as omelettes etc. We did have one evening meal in the restaurant which was OK but there is so much choice to eat elsewhere, try those first. Otherwise a really nice stay and it also has it's own swimming pool.
Every now and again you stay in one of those properties and, over breakfast, calculate how much it would cost to live there. Winchester Mansions is one of those places. A perfect location, staff that are not only a laugh a minute but consummately professional, and where care and kindness is shown by all. May I move in please? PS Opposite Hop On Hop Off bus stop. Free shuttle to huge Mall. Uninterrupted views of Atlantic...am sad to be leaving.
We were so happy to once again spend time at the Winchester Mansions. The staff have been and still are warm, friendly and professional. We would highly recommend the hotel, the location is very well situated.
From the minute we arrived the service could not have been better. Early check-in and late check-out were both organised with the minimum of fuss by extremely friendly and helpful staff. The location was perfect - well away from the bustling and noisy Waterfront and yet convenient for sightseeing, with a City Sightseeing stop right outside. Ideal too for paragliding, with a landing spot on the beach in front of the hotel, and for easy access to local beaches. Great breakfasts.
Spend almost one week at Winchester Mansion, and it couldn’t have been any better. Beautiful place, and the staff was just fantastic. Our trip was booked through GET Africa, so we didn’t know anything about it before we arrived. Thanks to the very beautiful staff for such a nice stay.
We loved our 8 night stay at the Winchester Mansions. We were so impressed with the warm, helpful staff who always were quick to answer our requests. The breakfasts were fabulous and all dietary needs were met. New Year’s Eve was lovely with cocktails and drinks by the pool. We were serenaded by a colourful band. Dinner was served in the courtyard and a jazz band had everyone singing and dancing. Unfortunately we were inundated with torrential rain. The staff happily moved most the guests and others were accommodated. It was a night to remember. Our room (102) faced the beach so we were able to listen to the street musicians and watch the paragliders land right in front of us. The facilities included a fridge, coffee/tea, a spacious room with an enclosed balcony. Another special feature is the courtesy minivan that drives the Guests to the V and A Waterfront. There is secure parking on the property for a reasonable fee. Thank you Winchester Mansions for taking great care of us and for being so caring with my husband’s ankle injury. I highly recommend this hotel to all who visit Cape Town.
