Room was very noisy because the people next to us had kids and the man constantly shouted at them. The walls are very thin. Parking was a huge problem. Breakfast served in a very small area. DSTV is extra but the channels are still limited. Service on arrival poor.
I stayed here for 1 week prior to the Cape Argus and had 2 rooms one by the pool which was a superb little cottage and then 1 on the top floor which had superb views and what I have booked already for next year ! Amazing people running the place a superb breakfast every day with great local produce and just a friendly place to be in Capetwon
Comfortable and very individual place! We spent in total 6 nights in the Sweet Lemon and enjoyed very single Day. All Staff is very friendly and helpful, specially Thandy, Linnet and Tateida. They organised everything for us, had many informations and took care for us in a very special manner. We can definitely recommend this place for people who are interested to stay at a special place and don't need the standard service of a large hotel chain. Endeavor the place and enjoy your stay!
Our booking was cancelled late afternoon and they did not offer any solution or compensation, which to me is a bloody shame. This is no way to treat guests and a zero performance. We will not consider this guest house - or one of their other locations - when we are in Cape Ton again, in April.
If you like really smart funky room decor, comfortable beds and a nice swimming pool to swim in, this is a great Bnb for you! The location is good, being close to the Cape Town Cbd and waterfront, and within walking distance to the excellent Sea Point restaurants. However, parking is a problem as this spot is in a small street alongside a couple of blocks of flats and the Bnb doesnt have its own parking area. There is also no tea or coffee in the room, which is a bit odd for the rates they charge. And if you need to leave before 8am to get to a meeting like I did, you'll miss breakfast. On the whole I would suggest this is a sweet option for relaxed holiday travellers, but a little on the tricky side for rushed business stays.
PROS The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. You can see that they are doing this business for a while and that they know what they are doing. The majority of the staff represent probably the best aspects of the place. The room was also reasonable clean, including breakfast and the whole place itself. CONS As we travelled a while around South Africa we stayed in a number of comparable places. This place was by far the most expensive we stayed. Unfortunately, it was far from being the best. The place itself was alright, even our toilet was incredible noise for like 1 minute after flushing (irritating at nights) and that our room was next to reception and we were bright awake with noise every morning between 7-8am. Still that would have been kind of ok, if it would not have been so expensive (during off-season in March). Also the location is pretty bad if you have a car, as you always have to drive through the whole city coming back from basically nearly everywhere. Costs 30 min a day which you spend in traffic as you are likely to return somewhere between 4-7pm from your day activities. Considering the room, there was a table, but no chair for the table, so the only place to sit was an old wooden chair in the corner (too high to use on the table) and the bed. Room was not too comfy and noise. Likely they have other better rooms. Long story short the place is kind of fine, but not for such an expensive price.
The property is top notch and so are the two girls looking after it. Pool, breakfast terrace etc. Everything is available. Only a few minutes away you have good restaurans and shops. About 50 minutes walk and you are at Water Front in Cape Town. No parking problem.
What a lovely place with great food and excellent service from friendly, helpful staff! Close to variety of restaurants and walking distance from the seafront. The room (studio) was beautifully furnished, clean and spacious.
A locally decorated Guesthouse, feels like being home! We stayed in the cottage. Great breakfast! Staff were very helpful. Location is great, 15 min drive from anything in the city. Only thing, Wi-Fi should be complimentary. Recommended!
