My work booked me this hotel for a week. The room was fine, the breakfasts ok, staff friendly, but the dinners were terrible. I travel frequently, I often do not stay in up-market hotels, but the chef at this hotel does not know how to cook! I worked my way through the menu trying to find something edible but everything was ghastly. The chef was clearly trying hard, but not succeeding. In desperation I ordered fish and chips, which is not something I often eat, but I thought might be a safe choice. There was large amounts of bad-tasting soggy batter, the fish had lots of bones and tasted old, the chips were not crisp and tasted of stale oil, and the salad was 50% raw onion. Oh dear!

We called in for lunch one day & were happily surprised by the lovely dining room. The menu was quite varied & the food we chose very good. We were talking to one of the Managers who was very accommodating & showed us one of the rooms, as we had been asked, by overseas visitors, to recommend a good Hotel for them to stay. The room we saw was beautifully decorated & looked very comfortable with a really magnificent view over the whole of Cape Town (wonderful after dark I would think). Very centrally situated for overseas visitors &, here again, this particular Hotel is one of the more 'up market' of the Protea group. I have since been advised that the Protea Hotels are franchised, so this obviously has a great impact on service.

I wish I had discovered this hotel earlier in my travels. I may not eat a lot but if you claim to serve food make sure it is great and this hotels breakfast was top notch. As they say 'eat breakfast like a king (queen in my case) I was thoroughly impressed. The bed was very comfortable after a 35hr trip I was bushed my body was grateful to the bed. There was no closet in the apartment I have no idea if thats the idea. Free but limited wifi. Loved the lobby.

Its not over the top pricing, but then again its a Protea hotel. Pity about no warm water in my room on a very cold early morning wake up. They made a mean vegetarian pasta for me for dinner, and sitting in the lounge with a craft beer for dinner was cool. The managers were on the ball and very attentive.

I've been staying here for a few days on business and so far my stay really couldn't have been better. The apartment is spacious and comfortable and the staff are so friendly and attentive. At dinner I've been served by Phumza on at least two evenings and the service has been really great, a real credit to the team. The same applies to quite a few other team members from the waiting staff and the reception desk who arranged for my room to be made ready ahead of schedule when I arrived early and wanted to check in so I could get refreshed and head to a meeting. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the team at this hotel. Well done to everyone and thank you!

This property is good for business trip. Room size is decent. Breakfast spread is good. Wifi is free but limited. One thing which is bit of inconvenience is that there is no lift. If you wish to carry your luggage to your room then you would struggle. Cape Town is facing drought this year, hence try to get some drinking water from store.

Last week my colleague and I facilitated a one week workshop for 27 Mediclinic staff at this hotel. From the minute, I walked into the hotel to register, I was struck by the friendly, helpful and ‘going the extra mile’ atmosphere. I knew instantly I was in a space where I would feel comfortable and cared for. Each member of staff I had the privilege of meeting reflected a caring and customer oriented culture. Staff members who shone particularly are the lady at receptionist who never tired of assisting us with queries and support needs, Ashley in the restaurant who kept a watchful eye on our needs and offered me a cup of coffee before I needed to ask him, to the ever warm and friendly Everisto who carried my workshop trolley case up and down the stairs with a broad smile. The participants in the workshop even referred to the staff as good examples of people who each take responsibility for serving customers, responding appropriately to their needs and helping to make their stay a happy one. Congratulations Protea Hotel Durbanville. Your staff contributed to making the workshop a truly memorable occasion.

One of the better hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. I shared the unit with a collegue. It has 2 bedrooms, a downstairs and upstairs one, ensuring complete privacy, It also has a lounge and kitchen, Very clean, comfortable and modern, yet understated. Staff were friendly. The hotel looks out onto the Durbanville vineyards,

Protea is a good choice if you are travelling with your own car and if you don't want to stay in downtown Cape Town. Hotel offers apartments style accommodation and the quality was very good if not excellent. Breakfast is plentiful and comes with good variety of choices. Wi-Fi tended to require periodical check-ins but otherwise worked nicely. I had just a quick overnight stay but was definitely pleased with their offering!
