I was unsure about the Star Inn for our anniversary weekend when reading reviews posted a while ago but booked anyway knowing it was the sister inn to the Congress Inn across the street--where the amenities are plentiful. The Star didn't disappoint but thrilled us to have a room with an ocean view, (albeit small) but size didn't matter as it was fairly quiet on the second floor during a later October weekend. The king size bed was incredible comfortable and the products and terry cloth robes, and other amenities offered at the Congress in a first class touch. I would definitely return for the accommodations, the location and the attention to detail.

A friend referred us to the Star and we are happy we gave it a try. Great central location in town. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff. Our room was on the third floor (no elevator, which we didn’t mind, but could be a problem for some people) nice to wake up in the morning and have a view of the ocean! Nice size room, King bed, very clean and staff refreshed linens, etc., each day. Hoping to return again soon.

Just returned from a family trip to Cape May. We had two two bedroom suites in the Carriage house, and two efficiencies in the part of the Inn adjacent to the parking lot. It worked out really well for my family of 4 grown children and their spouses and 4 grandchildren, as well as my husband and I. The little lobby is adorable and I was hopeful the rooms would be as cute! They were not. But the shore is tough on a place and although I don't know when the rooms were refreshed, they looked tired. The efficiency I stayed in had a bright pink velvet sectional sofa with a contemporaty light fixture and a seagrass area rug. The rug was really worn and made the room feel shabby. The little kitchenette was really handy. The little fridge was adequate for drinks and breakfast stuff. The bathroom was awful! The is no where to put your things other than a small shelf behind the toilet. The hair dryer is also just worthless, and the nozel was missing on mine. The bed and linens very comfortable. The twice a day maid service was really nice. As hard as we tried you can't help but track in some sand. After the first time in the outdoor shower trying to rince off, we skipped it. It smelled really bad and was not user friendly! The Carriage house rooms (I was told by my family) were fine, but also tired but had full kitchens. The best thing is that you get to use all the amenities of Congress Hall, and the beach service as this is part of Cape Resorts group. The absolute best part was the Consierge service. They were amazing!!!! So helpful and friendly!!!!!! LOVED them!

Well ,we found another gem in the Star Hotel in cape May . Not an easy reservation to achieve , but we were fortunate to score a few days the end of August and were open minded about some of the reviews posted,I.e. too small , no elevator, a little pricey. However , we were lucky to reserve a king size bed and it was all good from there on. The front desk staff were there if you needed her, the frequent “Hello “ from her were cheerful and sincere. The location excellent and being a sister of Congress hall makes it a”must try”. We liked it and will return again.“God Willing”

As usual, the Star delivered on our most recent visit. We’ve been staying here for the better part of the past decade. It’s great, one half block to the beach, access to the Congress Hall pool and beach service. All good stuff, especially if you’re trying to get a few kids out on the beach for the day. My only suggestion (not complaint) is it would be great if there were awnings on the second story. The sun is intense in the afternoon and it’s hard to sit outside until around 7 pm. Thanks for a great stay!!

We spent a few nights at The Star in the Inn section. The Inn section is located in the old building with multiple rooms. Our room was very clean, the queen bed comfortable, nice bathroom and a strong ac. Maid service was great twice daily. My only complaint was the size of the room. Way too small to spend any time comfortably. We also had access to Congress Hall’s pool and their beach service. The pool section has two pools, one adults only. Food and beverage service was good and friendly. I enjoyed a fantastic lunch - guacamole and chips. We didn’t make it to the beach so I can’t comment on how the beach chairs and umbrella operation works. The hotel location is perfect, close to everything. We parked our car and never needed it until it was time to head home. We look forward to our next visit.

We stayed at The Star for 2 nights in early June. We have been passed this property many times and were eager to stay there. When we made the reservations we were unaware that The Star consists of 3 separate buildings. While we thought we would be staying in one of the suites, we were actually booked at the inn. We were a little disappointed as the suites look really nice. The inn is an old house with nine rooms. We were in Room 2 on the second floor. The room was “cosy”, and consisted of a queen bed, a dresser, a very small chair and a nicely appointed bathroom. For two nights it was ok, I wouldn’t want to stay in that room much longer. They also offer 2 carriage house rooms in the third building so make sure you ask the right questions when making your reservation. While staying at The Star you have access to the pool at Congress Hall as well as the beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach across from Congress Hall. We went to the pool and it was quite nice. They offer a separate adult pool which was nice to be separate from the kids. The servers were very nice and set up your chair for you then served food and drinks which was very nice. It was a very pleasant stay, just make sure you ask the questions to get the room that you want.

We stayed here for four nights recently during the Memorial Day weekend. The first night we were given a room that was fairly small with no real space to sit; the bed, however, was very comfortable and it had a large shower. The next morning we found out that we were given the wrong room when the management staff came over, apologized and switched us to a much more spacious and comfortable room. They also gave us a couple of vouchers to spend at the Blue Pig restaurant in Congress Hall. We were also charged for the small room, not the large room, for the one night that we spent in. Very impressive service, that. All the staff we interacted with at Congress Hall was polite and efficient. The whole atmosphere was very welcoming.

We stayed Sunday night (mothers day) and the package we purchased included a credit towards dinner at the Blue Pig plus a late checkout (1 pm). We stayed in room 3 which was a corner room. Very nice and extremely clean room. Pleasantly surprised. Shower is a little small but doable. Dinner at the Blue Pig has very good and convenient. The only downside was housekeeping wasnt aware of our late check out and woke us up at 11 am. (Maybe housekeeping should be aware of who is staying late ahead of time.) Other than that a very nice experience and will definitely be back.

We’ve stayed at the Star several times now and each visit gets better and better. While some of the rooms are small and could use some minor updates, they are always very clean. The location is wonderful, it’s always quiet, parking is super easy, the staff is nice and some rooms have great ocean views. We really enjoy it here.
