This hotel was awesome for our first 2 nights in Europe. Having endured a 21 hour flight from Australia it was heaven to check into this hotel. There was so much room and everything you would need to be comfortable. A kitchen including tea and coffee, lots of included bottled water, well appointed bathrooms with l'occitane products. The breakfast was limited but fresh and delicious. The hotel is located in a hip area of town away from the centre but was easy walking distance to the sights and railway station. Our room did face onto the railway line but the view was leafy and the trains going by did not disturb us There is no air conditioning but there were fans which kept us cool. The yoga mat provided in the room was put to good use on the ample floor space The staff were friendly and very helpful I would highly recommend this hotel!
I stayed with my family. Everybody loved it so much. Every part of hotel is great design which gave us a lot of joy to appreciate. Bedroom and living room were awesome with a lot of space. Its location is quiet and the best part is that hotel employees are all friendly. I definitely want to visit again!!
Perfectly nice, unpretentious, lovely linen sheets, great mattress though on the firm side. Suites give on a sometimes noisy road, so go for rooms in the annex if you like to sleep with open windows. Excellent service.
The communal space, the lobby especially, is quite tight when it comes to space, so the 'design' efforts can feel a little overwhelming in close quarters. After a long night out we were very glade to be welcomed to a magnificent breakfast with a decent spread of cheese, cold meats, fruit and delicious homemade cakes and pastries. There’s an effort to keep food organic and from local producers, where practicable. Thank's a lot and we will be back =)
We stayed here during July 2016. The staff were absolutely spot on. So friendly and helpful - showed us all the best placed to go, how to get there, bus routes, current events. Just what we needed. The hotel itself is simple but just what you need, the rooms are small but clean. The weather was very warm during our stay and a fan was provided in the room, air con would have been better but it really didn't dampen the stay. Great staff, great service, great location for getting around the city either by bus or by walking.
We stayed here on the final night of our two-week honeymoon, before our flight from Zurich. The staff upgraded us to one of their penthouses, which was very large and well-appointed. Lots of natural light and contemporary (yet comfortable) decorations. The vibe of the hotel is very modern, but also warm and inviting. It was very quiet and the bar/restaurant were very convenient. GREAT breakfast and the staff was extremely helpful and kind. Couldn't recommend this place more.
Family of four with 3 and 6yo. Stayed Mar-2017. Firstly a huge thank you to housekeeping who loaned us a clothes airer! I went to a nearby laundromat, did washing and dried it back in the apartment! Thanks so much. I would highly recommend this for families. The two bedroom apartment we were given was on first floor and was actually two adjoining rooms - a one bed apartment with a kitchen and lounge and a one bed suite with lobby - nonetheless the set up worked fantastically for us. The park down the road was great too. (nb. that we brought a portable cot/crib for the 3yo. Both bedrooms had a queen bed) Blackout shutters - we slept very well each night thanks to pitch black rooms! The noise from the train line did not interrupt our sleep at all. The apartment and had a very spacious living area and wifi was excellent. Staff were very friendly! It is a little out of the way - about a 10min tram ride into the city and the area is a little hipster, but its Switzerland so still nice. We were in Zurich for 3 nights - there is little to see - i would only recommend two if with children and use the extra day in the mountains.
I spent a night at the Hotel Greulich. It is beautifully designed and is really interesting architecturally. It is named after the street in which it is located and the street is named after Herman Greulich, a communist colleague of Karl Marx and a member of the second Internationale. It looks dramatic from front and rear and the room I stayed in, in the courtyard was very comfortable. The hotel is close to tram stops that take you to many of the important location in Zurich including the Hauptbahnhof. The hotel was quiet and the bed comfortable. The hotel will not be to everybody's taste as the rooms are not your normal rectangular rooms but have interesting design features especially in the bathrooms. Staff and the welcome were friendly and the breakfast was excellent in a pleasant restaurant
This unique, less than 30 rooms hotel is a great place to unwind in peace and quiet just moments away from all that Zurich has to offer. If you like staying in more of a residential neighborhood, then this is the place for you. We stayed in Deluxe room 4, which we were led to by the very friendly and helpful front desk staff, just past the birch tree grove. Normally we don't stay in hotels that don't have interior hallways to access the rooms, but I'm glad we made the exception for this one. Our room was off of an open air, protected courtyard that was between the three sides of the hotel. When we return to Zurich, this hotel will be our first choice.
We enjoyed a two-night stay at the Greulich. Walking to the hotel from the station (using the hotel's own directions, which only work if you happen to leave the station somewhere you can see the Post Office building!) was fairly long, but we soon found the hotel, on a corner in a residential area of the city. The modern design was immediately apparent and was one of the reasons we chose this over other cookie-cutter hotels on offer. Check-in was friendly and our room was out the back of the hotel, meaning going outside and through the small forest in the courtyard. The whole place exuded a modernist/industrial/brutalist style from outside and the room continued the theme, we loved it! The room was really something unique, which was great to see, although the somewhat see through bathroom arrangement was unusual. The location was good, 15-20mins level walking along residential streets into the heart of the city (or catch a nearby tram). This hotel was what we expected - something a bit different but well located for the things we wanted to do in Zurich. If you're after a mega-comfy, plush style of place, this isn't the one for you, but if you want a break from the norm to experience something different (and maybe uniquely modern Swiss?!), then it's definitely worth considering.
