I stayed overnight for meetings. The hotel was truly lovely. The rooms are traditional and beautifully appointed with big new bathrooms. For a classic hotel there was a very good number of plugs for computers and phones etc. The staff was outstanding, top flight and very, very professional- really some of the best I have seen in Switzerland. My only regret was staying for a long weekend.
From the moment we were picked up at the airport by hotel staff until we were dropped off at the train station the experience at this hotel was first class! As a member of LHW we had the privilege of being upgraded to a beautiful lakeview suite. The suite in the original building, was sumptuous, comfortable and had a huge terrace to enjoy the wonderful view. Housekeeping was faultless and every day the fresh fruit and bottled water was replenished. Breakfast was as expected with great coffee and the service top notch ,especially from Diego who remembered how we liked our coffee each day! Actually most staff were friendly, knowledgeable and professional with special thanks to Giovanni at reception and the multi tasker Riccardo who addressed me by my name from the onset to the end of our stay. The Splendide is all about class ,style and service..and I would recommend highly to all
best hotel wonderful service nice view excellent rooms delicious breakfast professional personal beautiful interior concierge services are excellent very recommend this hotel recommend everyone to visit this fabulous place
It was a whim, an off-chance to take advantage of the gorgeous weather on the Lugano side of the SwIss Alps. Looking at all the hotels on offer, this was the one that caught our eye, despite the price. But it was worth every penny. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left. Starting with the doorman who whisks your car away, to the charming receptionist who showed us to our palatial room with a view, to the friendly service in the bar, the concierge's advice on 'what to do', the helpful sommelier and the punctilious serve at dinner. When we splash out on a fabulous hotel we spend as much time there as possible. So after sampling the delights of Lugano, we had cocktails and then dinner in the hotel, which was delicious (NB probably best to come with smart clothes - I was unprepared - but nobody minded). The bed was comfortable, the linen crisp and welcoming, the bath and accompanying bath salts luxurious - and our huge terrace simply fantastic for a Sunday morning laze before we departed. Delicious chocolates and a good-night jellied fruit all add to the 5 star touches that make this hotel one to return to.
The hotel is located in front of the lake which is probably the only good point about it. The outside of the hotel is divided in 2, one beautiful building, the other side being a pile of concrete. In terms of services, you have the basic needs of food and drinks, other than that nothing is well made, and no effort put into place. An exemple could be of what other guests shared with us: "Room service is so bad here, that it took us less time to order from the nearby restaurant than to actually get the order completed on the phone" There is no spa or no wellness, only a therapist can come, but is usually available if booked 2 days in advance (according to concierge), which is incredible when you come for a week-end I would assume! Other than that, the hotel decided to stop the A/C during our time here, even though it was still warm outside, therefore hot inside too. The reason being that people asked to have heating instead. I mean just by hearing this, it made us laugh of how bad things are here... In a real 5 star you get to choose whether you want it cold or hot in the room, not according to the trend (eventhough I'm sure this is just a poor reason said by Barbara the receptionist, who also made fun of the fact that we were complaining about not being able to be confortable in the hotel! How professional of her!) Anyways, the list could go on, but we decided to leave half way through our stay to not endure this unpleasant experience anymore! We have reported this hotel to different hotel associations, trying to encourage mystery guests to pop up soon, to rank and rate this hotel to where it should stand. We stayed in a Deluxe lake view.
What a terrific property. Rooms Service Amenities and Dining all top the charts. A 5 star experience with the benefit of being a warm gracious delightful place to be. The views are exceptional but then Lugano is breathtaking at almost every turn. We are accustomed to the lakes nearby having been to Bellagio and having stayed at the Villa D'Este several times, but admittedly our experience at the Splendide, and being in Lugano may be exceptional. Admittedly, we were upgraded to an incredible room, but regardless everything else was so wonderful even being in the new wing would have been acceptable. All of this comes at a price but it was still well worth every expense. Don't miss taking a bicycle out for a ride around the lake. the equipment was excellent. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast yummy.
Royal! Splendid! The views from the hotel are breathtaking! The room itself it is breathtaking! The robes, the slippers, the little details -everything is just perfect to celebrate a new marriage. The breakfast was also fantastic! If I visit Lugano again, I will definitely stay there again!
My wife and I, accompanied by a life-long colleague and his wife, spent a couple of days at the Spendide as part of a Swiss Railways luxury holiday. I hesitate to use superlatives, but this has to be the finest hotel I have ever stayed in. The service throughout was both friendly and highly professional, and our two dinners in the restaurant were absolutely delicious. The hotel's location is perfect for strolls by the lake or exploring the old town, and we enjoyed spectacular views from our 6th room with balcony. Thank you to all the hotel staff who contributed to making our stay so memorable.
The place is amazing. It feels like staying in a palace. It is really wonderful. The breakfast view is another plus. It overlooks the lake and amazing place to enjoy a really good breakfast. Even the spread is v good. The only reason for not a full rating is because they don't even have water heater or coffee maker in the rooms.
This was my second visit, I was with a media group of ten, to this lovely hotel, the staff were fantastic from reception to breakfast, to the bar, every detail in the room was lovely. The rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms. The beds are made up with super soft pure luxury cotton and so comfortable. If you liked to be looked after and spoiled then this is your place. you can walk acroos the road to the lido in summer and have a dip in the lake. LOVE this place. Great breakfast with a huge buffet, and the restaurant is excellent.
