We stayed from 13-20 Sept with a fabulous room overlooking the hotel pool and Lake Lugano with extensive mountain views. The hotel was well maintained and clean everywhere. All staff were very helpful and lots of advice on where to go and what to do was available from reception staff. .There was limited free parking on site and also expensive garaging. Breakfast was also expensive unless bookings were made direct with the hotel. Dinner was not quite as good as we would have expected in such a good hotel an we found better restaurants in the village of Campione D'Italia
I spent a couple days in this delightfully located place. Views over the lake are magnificent, food in the restaurant very good and the service friendly. The town itself is very tidy and suitable for jogging and strolling. The hotel has a small swimming pool.
Excellent stay for one night. Loved the swimming pool and especially the view. Staff were very friendly. Room was great and immaculate, the aircon worked perfectly. Perfect location en route from England to Italy, would definitely stay again.
We have just stayed here for four nights. We arrived by train and the number 439 bus leave from Lugano and drops off at the hotel, it takes 16 minutes. The hotel then looks back across the lake towards Lugano. It's also 5 mins away from the nearest train station. So as far as location goes, great. The hotel also provides a free pass which allows free travel on all buses and trains in the Ticino region. The gentleman on reception spent a long time with us printing out itineraries for this region, including the other lakes and giving us so much help and information. The hotel itself is wonderful. So quiet and the pool and sunbed area allows views across the lake and has plenty of beds and space, free towels are provided. The room had air-conditioning, a very comfy bed and a lovely bathroom. Breakfast had a good continental choice and smoked salmon and cold meats. All the staff were very curious and polite. We liked the fact that we chose to stay slightly away from the city of Lugano, it allowed us to explore more and also visit Campo D'italia, the Italian town 90 metres from the hotel. I would really recommend this hotel, a gem on the beautiful lake.
We arrived after a long drive from Germany. It was very hot. We were offered an upgraded room and accepted. We were told that the a/c worked by inserting a card (any card) into a slot and then operated by a remote control. We went up to our room, card trick did not work. A/c remote control was broken. We called down to the front desk and after two calls a staff member came to check on the a/c, told us he had fixed it but after he left the a/c was not cooling adequately. He was sent back and was unable to resolve the issue. We then received another free upgrade to a suite that did have air conditioning that worked. There was ugly construction going on at the site that we were not informed about prior to our trip. We were told that there were towels available pool side, so to keep cool I went down for a swim without a towel. There were no towels pool side. I had to walk back to my room dripping wet. The taxi service that we requested from the Hotel to take us into town was frankly grungy and over priced. We did have breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and thankfully it was pretty good and the female staff member at the front desk was helpful with resources but after a rocky start we never felt comfortable here.
I booked this after reading many of the good reviews online. We booked directly through the hotel's website. We arrived on a very hot day after a drive from Venice to find that they had no record of our reservation. We showed them our confirmation and luckily they had a room. They were apologetic, but it was still frustrating and time consuming. We went to our room and got settled. Also, I did not see any inkling of the renovations another reviewer talked about. We noticed our room was quite hot (30+ degrees). We had overheard another couple complaining about their A/C not working when we checked in. We went to the front desk and were given a remote control to work the A/C. Needless to say, it worked in the living area, but not in the bedroom. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Good food, friendly but slow service. Our lake view room also overlooked the road and there is quite a bit of construction going on above the hotel. At breakfast, we heard a different couple again complaining about the air conditioning not working in their room. Due to all of this, we checked out a day early. The hotel very kindly called and apologized and said they had fixed the A/C in our room, but we had already checked out at this point. My husband summed it up best by saying "never have we paid so much for so little"
We visited Hotel Campione twice in our holiday. We had a lovely stay. The staff was very friendly, helped us with sight seeing experience in the area (monte bré) + comfortable room. + Good food (Diner, breakfast) + and the swimming pool was fantastic with a great view at the lake. We recommend this hotel.
Majority of rooms have been completely renovated, we stayed in a not-yet renovated room which was still nice. Hotel was recently re-painted, got new terrace/balcony glass separators. Great breakfast with local produce (cheeses, salume, etc). Location is great: walking distance (~10 min) from the centre of Campione d'Italia (great restaurant tip: the Monello), convenient for trips to Melide (Swiss-Miniatur), Morcote, Mendrisio (outlet shopping), Lugano. Beautiful panorama to enjoy from the terrace (breakfast/lunch) and the pool area. Cleverly designed children's pool (preventing kids to go into the big pool). Very friendly staff. We'll never stay in Lugano again (overpriced, less nice/much more expensive hotels, less child friendly) and happily go back to the Hotel Campione! PS: Price levels are fair (for the rooms, also for the parking eg 15.- per night for the garage), but many first-time-visitors are generally shocked (or unprepared/uninformed) by the overall price level.
Beautiful room, fantastic views, friendly staff, good food. Location is very convenient to Roma Plaza and casino. The room was extremely comfortable and the view from our patio balcony was beautiful. The front desk staff was very welcoming and had very helpful suggestions for lunch locations nearby.
After a long working day it was brilliant to enter at Hotel Campione and enjoy the friendly stuff and the clean and well equipped room. Furthermore the hotel is close to ITA border and close located to the lake. The area is very beautiful and invited for hiking. Keep on Campione Team!
