After a great but tiring drive from Jasper, when we reached this hotel late in the evening, we had to wait till eternity to be able to check-in. This in spite of there being two persons manning the front-desk. During check-in they make you sign a form at dozen different places, which seems like a weird contract with weirder clauses. The security amount they charged at the time of check-in, took them 1.5 months to refund. By the time they are done with you, you are left with the feeling, why are you here? On the premise, there are no amenities, except a coffee dispenser. No washer-dryer, no break-fast, no cleaning of the rooms, no nothing, except just a room with a claustrophobic view of the mountains.
Stayed two nights in September. Had a room on second floor (no elevator!) with two queen beds. We had chosen the hotel for availability and price. The staff was friendly. But didn't told us anything about Internet or breakfast. But the informations were available in the ring folder at the room. Rooms are spacious and beds are ok. TV is very small (but who needs a TV anymore?). The rooms are a bit noisy (trains, road, but especially the shower of the room next door) but quite clean. There is no breakfast (I expected at least some coffee). The second day, the room had not been cleaned nor were the beds made. At least, the WiFi had a good speed! So, a place to sleep, not more.
I did not expect much from this hotel, it was a last minute booking and one of the only options left in Canmore. However, I did expect the room to be clean. My friend dropped something behind the table in between the beds, while reaching for it I accidentally grabbed a bottle of massage oil covered in hair. The used oil was not hard to miss and the cleaning staff should have found it if they were properly cleaning the room. I know dirty things happen at hotels but I should not have to be reminded of it while staying there. When I spoke to the manager the following morning, her response was 'this is not a 5 star hotel'...that's it! Five star hotel or not, the room should be clean. It was disgusting and unacceptable. I would never stay here again nor would I ever recommend the hotel.
You can really spend a lot of money on accommodation in this ski town. If you are looking for a clean and budget inn, this is the place for you. It is just a few minutes drive from where all the action is. I especially like the paved path in front of the inn where I went for a nice jog in the morning. I stayed in Canmore because of a family emergency and the front desk lady was able to get me a late check out and shared resources that would help me navigate the situation. I would highly recommend this inn if you are looking for a basic and clean place to stay.
Loved my room. Very comfy bed and a jetted tub were perfect after a long day of hiking and touring. The fridge and microwave were very convenient. I crossed the street and walked along the river into town. A very lovely walk! Would stay here again
Mountain View Inn has the basics and is clean. The best part is the location - very close to the highway and downtown Canmore - walking distance to coffee shops, restaurant, and brewery. Rooms have a clean bathroom and a mini fridge. Downstairs, there is a small seating area with a coffee machine and tea kettle and microwave if you want to have somewhere to sit and eat.
If you want to be close to all the action and not spend a great deal of money, this is the place for you. Firstly, Canmore even though it’s smaller than Banff, it’s very pretty and has all kinds of shops and services. Second, the property has an excellent location which is close to everything. Third, the rates are great value for money and the rooms are clean and spacious. The only disadvantage is they don’t do daily housekeeping during the day, it’s only after checking out. Odd but I think that’s one of the reasons for their super competitive rates.
Turns out, at least for us, that hotels in Banff and Lake Louise are very, very expensive this time of year so we looked in the nearby town of Canmore and found this Inn. It is very reasonably priced, close to the highway, free wifi, free parking, only 17 minutes to Banff, surprisingly quiet, and the room we had was fine given the price. Just need to know there is no room service unless you wish to pay additional fee. Otherwise, we were quite happy- preferring to spend our money on afternoon tea at fancier hotels north of here.
Generous sized room with 2 double beds, TV, good wifi, fridge and microwave. Very friendly and welcoming staff who couldn't do enough to help. Big shout out to Wilma who even lent me curling irons. Pleasant walk to the centre either my main road or a nice walk along the river. Highly recommended
I and my wife have stayed here twice, once for 2 nights and once for 4 nights. The rooms we stayed in were nicely furnished and very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful, especially Elma - your so sweet, love you!
