Well deserved four star hotel, although it looks a bit retro-style, it is still a modern and good place to stay either one ore more nights. Spacious rooms, very clean, whole hotel well covered with quality wi-fi connection, excellent english-spoken staff, nice breakfast, well kept parking area, huge shopping mall 200 meters away, Florence airport is also near...well connected to a highway...I would sure stay there again...
Supposedly a 4 star hotel Vespucci has no minibar and no room service. If you want a bottle of water you can get it at the vending machine in the lobby. Don't forget the coins though ... Very disappointing
Our flight was cancelled, and Swiss Air put us up at this hotel. It was okay at best. You were told what to eat, and were not allowed to order from the menu. Food not great. However, hotel was clean, and bus shuttle back & forth was good. I would only stay here as required to be close to airport. An industrial area, and nothing to do or see.
The hotel has a classic design. Room was spacious and very clean. In-room wifi was also available and I love the variety of juices served at the breakfast buffet - my favourite was the multivitamin juice! What I like most about this hotel was that the staff were very nice and friendly.
Adress was not easy to find, navigation doNT forget to Check before drive, staff is helpful, parking is easy no need to pay, restaurant is a little bit expensive but realy very good, breakfast was inclusive not so much but enough and qualitative, Room is big clean warm, Internet no need to pay, i like super
Pros: Located in an industrial area, it's a nice hotel with good amenities, but it's pretty austere outside the property. The staff (both desk and service) was friendly and requests were handled promptly and efficiently. The room was a nice size, and relatively modern. The free breakfast buffet was fine, and the wait staff there was exceptionally good. Cons: The location is in the middle of an industrial are; if you want to run out for a bottle of water or a snack, you'll need to get in your car and find something outside of the hotel. There are no vending machines in the hotel, and the room minibar is expensive. There aren't that many available receptacles in the room (at least not in mine), so if you plan on charging your devices, you'll need a cube tap, or you'll have to unplug some lamps to get to a receptacle. There weren't any near the night tables either. Beware of the 'free' internet; it's terribly slow and inefficient, almost like dial-up. A 'premium' wireless connection is offered, and when it works, it's relatively fast, (not that fast, but better than the free). Many times, it also slowed to a crawl, or just stopped working, and I had to disconnect and re-connect several times before I got it going again. Perhaps it slowed down because too many people were using it. I also suspect their DNS isn't the greatest, and several websites took quite a while to find. My advice - forget the hotel wireless service (both free and paid), go get a SIM card for your phone, and then tether your phone to your computer or tablet. Much cheaper, and much faster.
It is a very clean and decorated hotel with very friendly staff . Room is specious and bright with big window. Everything is perfect but the only problem is the location of hotel which is quite far from Florence, however there is a train station close to hotel 15 mins by walk which makes hotel get close to Florence with only 2.20€ for each. Never get taxi from Florence to hotel which cost you more than 40€. Have lovely time in hotel and florence.
We stayed two nights in this quiet far out desolated hotel picked by our tour agency. During breakfast we witnessed a lady from a Taiwanese tour group who lost her handbag which she left in her chair while getting food. The huge breakfast room was empty except for our family, the three tables of Taiwanese and two young italian men sitting in a quiet corner. The hotel claimed they had no other registered guests eating and they had no security cameras either. Its no fun losing your passport on holiday. Please be careful even in this seemingly safe and quiet hotel. Otherwise this is a worn, bare and spartan hotel.
Arriving at Starhotels Vespucci these days is a challenge: The entrance is blocked by repair work and you have to find an alternate route. Which leads you behind the hotel just to see a bulding that resembles of a prison or something from Eastern European. But then - inside – eveyrything looks better. Actually - everything is great and well functioning as far as we could see (even a small TV in the bath room...). Anyhow: At last a breakfast in Italy with scrambled eggs&bacon, and at last an employee fluent in English and with considerable local knowledge. Very helpful!
We stayed here as second hotel in our citrus holiday package. Had emailed hotel before leaving for directions, all I got was get of train at calenzano, so assumed hotel would be visible, no!! The station is on industrial estate, empty on Friday afternoon, people we did find to ask wasn't sure, after 45 mins, walking around in 32 degrees we found it. Check in was easy enough, quite informative asked to get a beer, no! Bar shut, got to room no tea/coffee facilities, was not impressed. Room was okay, nice size, functional, Shopping centre across road, with big supermarket. A lovely bar up road, you pass on way to hotel if you walking, a real gem. Lovely little restaurant on same road, two lovely Italian ladies, one cooks one fronts it, beautiful good. There is nothing really wrong with hotel, just too far away from Florence, 30 mins by train approx. when you know where you going it takes 15 mins to walk 1km from station. Do not get on trains where you need to change to get to calenzano, we got stranded on a station for 1hr 45mins at night as we were given incorrect info. Wouldn't recommend for those using public transport. Hotel has no soul
