Yes, I booked thru Booking.com and intentionally stayed there - - mistake - - but everything else had been booked for/from the rodeo the preceding week. I must have gotten one of the more recently renovated rooms (up front) but that still didn't condone the filthy carpet (I wore socks the entire time, then threw them away) nor the small, inadequate towels nor the various (a lot) 'wrongs' of the room! The couch in the room looked nasty; I refused to even sit on it. I walked to the new Dollar Tree next door and got cleaning supplies to do what I could to enhance my comfort level. Everything that was brought in from the car was put on the desktop as I wasn't at all comfortable with setting anything on the floor or elsewhere! Upon arriving home, everything was left outside for cleaning later as I didn't want to carry inside anything I may have inadvertently picked up. Any pros? The property 'manager' was decent. The cons? Where do I start? Will never stay there again!!!! p.s. I wasn't aware there was a pool, let alone if it had water in it. If it was taken care of in the same manner as the room, I probably wouldn't have used it anyway!
Pros.. The roaches seemed to be timid and stayed under the refrigerator and behind the couch with cum stains. Cons.. the pet fur all over the room appeared to be of the cat species. This was great for my allergies. Over all, if my buddies suv isn't sitting on blocks tommow morning with the wheels missing everything will be good. Oh and the towels are to small and hard.
This was booked through Hotel.com and did not look bad on line as all hotels were booked, I was very upset when I got in the room, and the smell was overwhelming, the floor and comforter was filthy, I did not stay here although the room was paid for. Im sure done with booking with Hotels.com.
We scheduled the room because it looked okay online and it is near where we planned to meet family members. The Rivers Inn meets our most basic needs, but I cannot recommend it to others. Stained carpet, curtains coming loose from their hooks, and water drip lines on the ceiling suggest its age and condition. The manager attempted to be helpful, but when we sought his help in connecting to the Internet, he shrugged and said he couldn't get online either. Stay here if its great location near the Mississippi works for you too, but do be aware of what you're getting into.
The bathroom is small, outdated and cramped; towels not soft and too small. Room had an odor -- needs airing out. If you want a cheap place to stay this it, but set the bar too high. Management was friendly. The owners could make it look nice with a little outside paint and redoing the bathrooms, plus airing out the rooms.
3 of us stayed here due to soccer tournament booking all area rooms solid. The mold and mildew was so strong I had to leave door open. Not able to sleep. No other rooms available. Trapped. Sheets were dirty with brown crud. Hotel changed them. Everyone felt itchy after staying here. The floor was soft...water damage. By far the WORST motel ever ! The room was cramped and old. They charged our company 56.00 per room. As day sleepers/Nite workers...Loss of sleep deeply affected us. Go sleep on a curb...before you sleep here.
Nothing to write home about, view wise. Older motel, crowded parking and pool is unused. The shining gem to this motel is the manager. Like a drill sarge, he made sure people used the proper parking, watched constantly so no shenanigans went on and made sure the rooms were clean, had plenty of towels and if you had a problem, he was johnny on the spot. Inexpensive stay, basic room and secure.
The hotel is now called The Rivers. it is currently under renovation. There are several rooms totally renovated, some in various stages of renovation and some still not touched. I checked in for 12 days for work and was given a single in the non-renovated section. it was so small me my dog barely fit and it was stinky (i always carry spray).I tried to move but there was a rodeo in town so had to wait. The manager moved me 2 days after i checked in. i was put in a remodeled room..ehhh at least it was bigger. by bigger i mean a small double with 1 of the beds removed. but it was enough room for me and my road dog. as i always mention it is more important the the hotel not only accept dogs but not make me feel uncomfortable about having him with me. they were very dog accommodating and there was plenty of open space for walking. Because of the Siemens blade factory a few miles away there will always be a truckers and pilot cars at the hotel. GOOD POINTS: dog friendly, cheap, good wi-fi, micro & frig, as much ice as i wanted, close to my work BAD POINTS: not one day of room service in 12 days, small, paper thin walls, smelled, lot of flies
Holy crap. That pretty much sums up this wonderful experience. I would rather live in a van down by the river. It is cheap, but at least they can clean the rooms. I guess it is hard to clean the floors when they are wet and moldy. The beds were not clean and there was one dirty, frayed through towel in the bathroom. The wonderful aroma of cigarettes and who knows what else really made this extra delightful. And the flies were great. I probable inhaled three or four during the night. But luckily there were plenty to go around. My biggest fear was that the swamp thing would rise from the carpet during the night and abduct my wife and kids. Seriously! Needless to say, we got in late and this was the only vacancy. It was inexpensive but this is just disgusting. We left at first light and hopefully we have no long term illness that will result from staying here. Next time, I'll choose the van down by the river.
The manager does not understand English, refuses to allow guest ice. He is rude, as well as was seen harassing guest. My room was not clean and he refused to allow cleaning supplies. He don't like the smell. He yells at the children who were there and doesn't allow them on the playground equipment. I asked why and he showed me vegetables growing. Please tell me Fort Madison has a grocery store. And he didn't put water in the pool. Why does this site say breakfast and a pool? Worst service ever. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there.
