But it is cleanish and the breakfasts are ok. Not a nice place to walk to at night. Not ideal at all. Bad décor. I didn't think the staff were particularly friendly at all. All in all not a great experience and it would not be recommended to anyone else by myself.
The hotel itself was great but many cons. My honest opinion: Cons: HORRIBLE location. Yes, you are right outside the train station but this neighborhood is very ghetto. My boyfriend and I felt extremely uncomfortable walking around the streets past 9 pm (some streets are not lit at all which is very sketchy). No restaurants nearby that you can comfortably walk to at night. This is not the Budapest I wanted to see. Here’s my honest opinion: there is no Uber in Budapest and if you look to be outside of the hotel past 9pm I would not recommend. The subway and busses do not run all night. Unless you want to take the expensive rude cabs, it is very restricting to stay here. If you plan on returning to the hotel before 9pm, it is fine. Pros: gives you a complimentary touch screen phone with data to use everyday - SUPER helpful for getting around. Nice rooms, decent sized, nice bathroom, nice people. Overall, it depends on what type of vacationer you are- it’s a great deal if you don’t mind a bad location.
Sad, poor decor. needs updating. no kettle/coffee making facilities unless you pay an extortionate fee - never known this in a good hotel. these are minimum expectations. marked furniture. dirty carpets and scratched bath. early morning fire alarm 7am - no explanation given to guests by staff, no roll call to check everyone was out! very bad location, filthy backroad, bins overflowing. very uncomfortable, low bed with hardboard headboard. air conditioning worn out and moist. lift out of action and the second one suspect. overall a horrible experience . would never recommend and will not be returning.
The hotel is very good, centrally located and really worth the pricerate. As I already mentioned especially the receptionist Sabine scored high marks in giving good advice and ample suggestions. The public transportation is really excellent in Budapest. For us - 70+- all free of charge.
Very pleased with the service we received at the Royal Park Hotel during our recent stay in Budapest. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon we were greeted by a very friendly, helpful girl on reception. Thankyou to Szabina for your recommendations and service. No pushy sales.... Just polite helpful information given which resulted in us taking out an upgrade on our rooms. We upgraded to a superior room for an extra 18 euros a night. (Approx £16.) For this we got a bigger room, a coffee machine with coffee restocked every morning, a bottle of wine and a bath instead of just a shower. This was very welcoming after many long walks to soak achy joints after long days sight seeing. The hotel offers a good buffet style breakfast but be careful of timings when you come down for breakfast although you are informed that its generally busiest between the hours of 8-9am. Reasonable choice of breakfast items so Im sure you will find something for most tastes. The hotel is located a short walk from the nearest Hop on Hop off bus route and again Szabina gave us alot of information about the best deals to get. We chose a 48hr pass which also includes a river cruise up the Danube. Well worth the the trip as it takes you right past the very impressive Parliament Building amongst other things. There are a number of restaurants a short distance from the Hotel all at very good prices for food and drink. Our room also offered a FREE TO USE mobile phone giving you lots of information about all the tourist attractions and restaurants etc etc in Budapest. Its also free to call abroad and locally too. Great for ringing taxis etc. You are able to take this phone with you when you out and about so this was very handy indeed. The hotel isn't very big which I personally think makes the service more personal. All staff very friendly and definitely no complaints from us. You have to check out your room by 11am but we weren't actually leaving the hotel until much later. So reception staff allowed us to leave our bags in a secure place which were tagged and we were able to leave at 5pm. Thus giving us time for one last wander round to catch up on things we had missed the 2 days prior. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay here again if ever visiting the city. They even arranged a private transfer back to airport instead of getting a taxi as it is so very easy to get ripped off by taxi drivers if you dont know quite what your doing. This was marginally more expensive but excellent service. Thanks to all at the Royal Park Hotel
We stayed one night at the Royal Park Boutique Hotel while travelling through Europe. We chose the hotel because it was within walking distance to Keleti Train Station. The facility was clean and updated. The unique feature was that each room had a free cell phone you can use during your stay which is quite helpful if you do not have international data. There is a grocery store across from the hotel. Restaurants within walking distance. Very convenient. Look for Szebina at the reception. She always had a smile on and was extremely helpful to us.
we have booked 4 rooms in this hotel. hotel is Close to Keleti station. 5 min walk down. hotel located in narrow lane.. people in hotel very helpful and English speaking. rooms r small and clean. best part of the hotel is they will give u phone for free local call and some of the countries for international call free. also google map run fantastically.( picture attached ) i have never seen any hotel like this. next to hotel is lots of eating joints ( Mc donald, Burger King, Some pizza shop) good to stay here
The hotel's location was great. Close to Keleti station, close to hop on hop off pick up point, a SPAR convenient store, KFC, etc. Was safe area to walk even after sun set. Staff was great - very helpful and assisted where ever they could. Room was clean, comfortable beds and shower great. Only negative thing....no facility to make your own coffee - but, a kettle was made available to us by Reception staff.
We chose this because we wanted a decent hotel near Kaleti station. The staff was welcoming and always helpful. The room was clean, with adequate space for two people + luggage. In general, however, the place seems more like a basic, no frills lower end three star hotel. Looks and feels like it was updated years ago. Doesn’t have the quality of excellent three-star hotels (Courtyard, Hilton Garden, Holiday Inn, Mercure, etc.), much less four star hotels I’ve stayed in recently. I’m curious how this hotel can consider itself four star. The bedding and linens are basic and seem kind of worn around the edges. The cable only has a dozen or so channels. Only a couple news channels in English. No CNN. Breakfast seemed adequate but, after three days, it seemed like different day, same stuff. I would return here, but set my expectations lower and plan to experience a clean, quiet, safe basic three star hotel.
This hotel was chosen because its proximity to the Keleti train station. The accommodations were fine. The reception staff was really helpful with great command of English. We asked alot of logistical questions about getting around and received quality advice. The breakfast was absolutely great with a broad selection of healthy options as well as pastries, and eggs & bacon.
