Strengths: We liked our room which had a view to the garden and not to the very busy street. The room was usually equipped (refrigerator, water heater) and with enough towels for both of us. The hotel has a parking garage for cars and very good connection to all public transfer (bus, tram). We liked very much also sauna and whirlpool. Personal was kind and helpful. Weaknesses: At the time of our stay (early November) it was a little too hot in our room. Since it was not really hot we did not ask for lowering the temperature. The problems was also not to open the window because of bugs, coming from garden. Next problem could be an elevator, which is slow and people can sometimes wait longer time at busy hours. Therefore we suggest to have a room in the 1st floor.
Having never been to Budapest and therefore not stayed in a hotel there before, it would be unfair to rate things as less than v good; for the want of comparison. Staff were poly-lingual and very helpful. ..................................... As milk is not supplied in the rooms, when asked, the night receptionist gave us a wee jug of fresh milk. Nice touch. A very adequate b/fast is supplied at €10 pp extra and worth it, in our opinion. Scrambled eggs is the backbone of the hot option but the cold meal/cheeses option is equally sufficient. "Full" Irish/English b/fast interpretation is not available, but the website states that only a limited hot meal is available. The dining area is small so early attendance is advised. We arrived at 0900 on our last morning and had to do with a soiled table - crumbs, etc from the previous diners, so it was this or go hung(a)ry, if you'll pardon the pun. Fresh K&F, etc but failure to clean up by staff. I wouldn't rule it out because of this demerit, however. Heating is not adjustable in the rooms but the windows open widely, unfortunately letting street noise in, but as the hotel is not city centre, we didn't find this a huge problem, but just to be aware of it. It has a "Tripadvisor" winner 2013 award displayed and it not a bad hotel. It was part of a city-break flights incl deal, (self!!) rated as 4*. Ultimately... we'd recommend and stay there again but only for short stay duration. It's 100 m from a bus stop and about 10 mins from city centre.
Wonderful hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Explained bus and tram options to get to city centre. Location close enough to city, but not noisy. Good value for money - hotel had a spa, but we didn't use
A 20 minute walk from the city centre. Maybe 5 using the excellent bus service. Breakfast nothing special. Room good enough but noisy if facing the main road (we were but not bothered by the noise). Receptionists were brilliant, helpful and knowledgeable. Don't expect British TV (again no probs for us). Just about good value for money in my opinion.
We booked a short break at the Mediterran which is a short bus ride or taxi ride to the city centre. The staff were absolutely fantastic and very welcoming. Rooms are clean, fridge is stocked up with beverages and price list is also present and costs are very reasonable. You will need to buy milk if you want a drink in the room and bring your own tea/coffee if you don’t like Nescafe. Breakfast - there was a good selection, cereals, continental or a hot plate with bacon, local sausage and lovely scrambled eggs you just help yourself. Hotel staff can advise on bus routes etc. Taxi to the airport was £30 UK in Forints, but could be more during the rush hour so give plenty of time to get there as roads become gridlocked between 8am - 6pm. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Thanks folks.
Lovely stay only 30 minutes walk to the town or a 5 minute bus ride from round the corner. The room had all the neccesities you would need and if not you could ask reception who were very helpful. Only wish they gave milk so you could drink the coffee in the room.
I really enjoyed staying at the Mediterran, it is really easy to get there , from the airport , and the service is excellent !The place is really cosy and clean . There is private spa , you can book 1 hour and half for only 6 euro. I trustly recommend this hotel !
We spent 3 nights at this hotel and had a fantastic time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the AC was fab. (really needed as it was very hot!) Our room faced the road and we couldn't hear the traffic at all. We all slept incredibly well. (Probably due to all the walking we did!) The staff couldn't do enough for us. The receptionist was exceptional- so helpful and spoke very good English. He booked a dinner-river cruise for us, sorted out tickets for the Szechenyi baths, gave clear directions, helped with bus tickets etc. Nothing was too much trouble- so polite and friendly. Thank you! (Sorry I can't remember your name!)The breakfast was super- lots of choice. Even though the hotel was a little away from the main attractions, the buses were so frequent and nearby this did not matter at all. We had a fantastic time, thank you.
Spent 3 nights here. Located on Buda side of Budapest. Just a short bus ride from the centre. Take an 8, 110 or 112 from Astoria, just 6 stops. Comfortable, clean rooms, reasonable choice for breakfast. No evening meal at hotel but just 70 metres up the road is a great pub with extensive menu. Two of us had main course, desert and a beer for approx £22. Next to main road, so a bit of traffic noise, but didn't keep us awake! Bus tickets can be purchase at hotel as well.
Spent two nights here. Great location for public transport. 10 minutes walk to Liberty Statue. Surprised the restaurant doesn't open in evenings but pub on the corner was excellent. Underground parking was a real bonus. Very friendly and helpful staff who spoke very good English and helped me stutter through a few Hungarian words.
